₪ In the summer of 1960, 26-year-old Jane Goodall arrived on the shore of Lake Tanganyika in East Africa
₪ studied the area's chimpanzee population
₪ the trip meant the fulfillment of Jane Goodall's childhood dream
₪ At that time, it was unheard of for a woman to venture into the wilds of the African forest

• worked under Professor Louis Leakey, who then sent her to Gombe, Africa, to study the residence chimpanzee community
• Needed her mother to accompany her to Africa at first (due to restrictions)
• Chimpanzees were very wary of Jane Goodall initially
• Subsequently, she had to enter University so that her researches will be taken seriously
• Professor Louis Leaky then sent her to Cambridge to study

• At her time, female scientists were always discredited, but she proved to the world that she could come up with sound theories about the chimpanzees and their way of life
