For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribe. He depends the cause of the fatherless and the widow and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.

INTRODUCTION The nature and character of God is revealed

through His names. The name Adonai is a Hebrew word in a plural

form meaning Lords – emphasizing God as a Master. And this word Adonai in plural form used only of God.

It is used in the Bible a total of 449 times, 135 times used by itself, 315 times it is used with the name Jehovah.

The word Adonai has three different aspects in usage.

1. Jehovah Adonai emphasizes the fear of the Lord is the source of wisdom.

> Job 28:28… At sinabi nya sa tao “Matakot ka kay Yahweh’t magtatamong kaalaman. Magiging matalino ka kung ang sama’y lalayuan”

The word Adonai has three different aspects in usage.

2. Jehovah Adonai emphasizes God’s ownership of the world.

Awit 8: 3-8 … Ang likha mong langit, kung aking pagmasdan. Pati mga tala, bituin at buwan. Ano nga ang tao upang yaong alalahanin? Ano nga siya na sukat mong kalingain?

Nilikha mo siya na halos kapantay ng iyong luningning at kadakilaan.

Pinagmamasdan mo sa buong daigdig. Sa lahat ng bagay Malaki’t maliit.

Mga baka’t tupa, hayop na mabangis. At lahat ng ibong nasa himpapawid…

3. Jehovah Adonai emphasizes God’s claims of absolute obedience.

Malakias 1:6 … sinabi ni Yahweh sa mga saserdote. “Iginagalang ng anak ang kanyang ama at ng alipin ang kanyang panginoon. Ako ang iyong ama, bakit di ninyo ko iginagalang? Ako ang inyong Panginoon, bakit di ninyo ako pinagpipitaganan?

The term Adonai emphasizes the obedience that this Lord require from us.

As our Master and Creator, He made us who we are and what we are.

Everything we possess is on loan from God.We are stewards of God’s stuff.He has the right to rule our lives.

CONCLUSIONGod is our Adonai, our owner and

master. He alone has the right to tell us what to do.
