The Big Pain.“I picked the wrong career path.”
“Is it feasible, or am I crazy to consider this?”
“I have absolutely no idea how to make this happen.”
Where to Begin?
Get clear on:
…THE WHY?…THE WHAT?
…THE WHAT’S IT GONNA TAKE?
The WHY?Why do I want to make a change?
Why does this keep me up at night?
Why do I think this new path is going to be better?
The WHAT?What do / don’t I want to do next?
Do I have career capital in this?
What does this look like? Feel like?
What are these jobs called? What companies might hire me for this?
The WHAT’S IT GONNA TAKE?
Do I have the skills? Can I get them?
Do I need certifications? Classes?
Why do I think this new path is going to be better?
GUT CHECK Is it genuinely doable?
Do you have the courage?Do you have the resources?
Do you have the support?
Will you be able to live with yourself if you do nothing?
BUILD THAT PLANWhere do you want to end up?
What are the major steps? What’s your timeframe?
What does the schedule / to-do list look like each day or week?
Who do you need to meet?

SHIFTING YOUR BRAND
The easier you make it for the target audience to “get” you, the better the
odds they want to know more.
(So whatcha gonna do about that?)
NOBODY’S GOING TO DEDUCE
Make it “smack in the forehead obvious why you make sense
Connect the dots…… they won’t
Position your prior experience as a distinct advantage
MOBILIZE YOUR POSSE
Your people won’t know until you share the details
Be specific on how they can help you the most
Get them rooting for you
GET IN CAHOOTSFigure out who in this new industry
you need to know
Construct a plan to get on their radar
Genuine and curious beats ambushing (every day)
MODIFY THE PAPERWORK
Shift all marketing materials to this new goal – Resume, LI, Cover
Do not freak (it’s not a tattoo)
EVALUTE PROGRESS
The best date ever : YOU
How’s it going?
How’s it FEELING?
Any fine-tuning to be done?
WHEN IT’S SCARY
One small, deliberate and brave step every single day.
The most meaningful changes are rarely
the ones that were easy.
