Assalammualaikum and salam sejahtera.
This is the first time for me to be given the opportunity to say a few words in the first publication of a revived ‘Journey’ for 2008. It has been almost three years since most of us here have seen ‘Journey’, which was last published in 2005.
The new ‘Journey’ will carry new and refresh look as it is only not meant to be a communicating tool among ourselves internally, but also for our associates, partners and clients. So, the design and new look is part of our branding exercise for CTRM and its Group of Companies. Apart from playing its roles in communicating information, updates, achievements and events across the Group, ‘Journey’ will also be the ‘bridge’ to link all personnel in Cyberjaya, Subang and Melaka; and vice versa. I hope ‘Journey’ would be well received by all of us here. There is room to be improved and that is where all of you come in. Any
Assalammualaikum and Salam Sejahtera
As a rookie with CTRM, I am honoured to be entrusted with responsibility to resurrect Journey, which last seen the light of day three years ago.
I admitted that it was a big challenge for me to carry out this task for I will be definitely compared with my predecessor. This is a fact, which I cannot run away from. Our style may be different, but the objective will remain the same. Journey will still play its crucial role as communication tool.
For the first edition, we have selected several news and updates to be included and published for our benefits. The highlight of this issue has to be RADOME, which we will be supplying to the RMAF.
We also include some news and updates on our current business diversification and expansion plans, which tell us why we choose Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A 350XWB as the cover for this issue. Yes, they are part of our future business plan in composites aero structure manufacturing.
And right now, I am preparing myself to be bombarded with suggestions as well as criticism from you guys, hoping to make the next edition and many editions to come are a better one. I would also like to take this opportunity to invite those who are interested to be part of the editorial team for this magazine, please email me ASAP.
I hope Journey will be able to serve you well today and years to come and I will see you in the next issue scheduled in Decmber 2008.
Have a nice and productive day.
The Editor.

Message from The CEO
Assalammualaikum and Salam Sejahtera,
Today we are blessed to see ‘Journey’ being given a new lease of life to continue its mission in communicating all the updates and achievements of the Group to all parties, internal and external. Most of us here would still remember that the last ‘Journey’ was issued in 2005. Some of us have even thought that ‘Journey’ has reached its final destination. But today, ‘Journey’ is back with a new and fresh look, to continue its mission.
In this first issue for 2008, most of the news it carries will be from January 2008 until June 2008. It also carries news and information onthepreviousLIMA2007aswellastherecentDSA2008.Thesewerethetwoexhibitions,whichCTRMparticipatedtoshowcaseournew products and services, especially the defence related equipment, as this would be one of our focus in business diversifications and our platform to penetrate the local market and eventually the regional market.
‘Journey’ will serve us internally and also externally. It will be the link between us and our clients, partners and associates, communicating all the updates and achievements from across the Group. I am sure that after this first issue for 2008, there will be a lot of feedbacks and ideas from all of us on how to further improve the next issue of ‘Journey’. I believe that the Editorial Team would appreciate all these feedbacks and ideas. Please be part of the team in preparing ‘Journey’ to become an informative and useful reading material. Remember, ‘Journey’ is from us and for us.
Finally, I would like to extend my heartiest gratitude and appreciation to the Editorial Team for making this first issue a success. Business Section Incorporated in November 1990, CTRM was entrusted with strategic roles in developing high-tech based industry, namely the composites and aerospace industries for sustainable development into the future.
Since then, CTRM gained the trust of its customers as one of the most competitive and competent composites aero structure manufacturer and is a part of global supply chain of Airbus and Boeing. It is a huge achievement for a company established in a country, where aerospace industry was non existent until 15 years ago.
CTRM is expanding its composites activities as it rides the new tide in the aerospace industry with the introduction of new generation aircrafts of Airbus A350 XWB and the Boeing787 Dreamliner. CTRM is positioning itself to become the preferred composites supplier for both aircrafts.
Having established a strong foothold in the aerospace industry, CTRM is not letting its eyes off the other industries which can provide a good return by optimising its skills and capabilities in the composites technology.
CTRM AU is the gateway for CTRM to expand its business activities in non-aerospace segment. Currently, CTRM AU is fulfilling its contract obligation to design, manufacture, install and commission two units of RADOME for the Royal Malaysian Air Force. With this contract, CTRM is confident that the regional market for its RADOME is well within its grasp. CTRM AU is also cruising at high speed as the Official Repairer for teams participating in the Formula BMW Asia 2008.
Another subsidiary, CTRM Aviation has rejuvenated its activities when it received the JAR 145 certification. The company currently leased out Eagle aircrafts and provide maintenance and service work for various customers.

Business Section CTRM TO LEAD LOCAL GENERAL AVIATION INDUSTRY
Not content with its success in composites aero structures manufacturing, CTRM is now making waves in the local General Aviation (GA) industry.
CTRM Aviation (CTRM AV), another subsidiary of CTRM has been diversifying its business, from the assembly of composites light aircraft Eagle 150B, to leasing activities and now will be providing MRO services to light aircraft of GA.
CTRM AV was awarded DCA Malaysia Approved Maintenance Organisation certification in August 2007. It is the highest level of approval ever awarded thus making CTRM AV the only organisation approved to provide maintenance for light aircrafts in GA category.
With this award, CTRM AV is now qualified to perform maintenance on light aircrafts such as Eagle 150B, Cessna 300 and Cessna 400. DCA Malaysia has also approved engineers from CTRM AV
to sign off the Certificate of Release to Service for other types of light aircrafts, such as the Diamond DA40 & 42, Piper PA34 & PA28 and Cirrus SR3G. CTRM AV also provides Out of Base Maintenance by posting itsengineersand technicalpersonnel in Ipoh,KotaBahruandBintulu. It also offers maintenance services in Subang, Johor, Sandakan and Bangkok.
To cater for this business expansion, CTRM AV is investing RM 5 million to expand its existing facility in Melaka. Which is sure to revolutionise and set new standards for local GA industry.

CTRM IS ON STEADY COURSE FOR FUTURE CONTRACTS
CTRM has established itself as part of global supply chain in composites aero structure for major aircrafts manufacturers, both commercial and military. The current value of contract of RM 2.47 billion will keep CTRM busy until 2022.
The new Airbus A 350XWB
The skyrocketing fuel price has created need for major aircraft manufacturers to produce a new generation of passenger aircrafts with new material and design that will increase fuel efficiency for airlines around the world.
The new Airbus A 350XWB is a new generation of passenger aircraft with new design and capability to complement the existing fleet of Airbus A 380.
The new aircraft is 30% more fuel efficient and able to cruise at Mach 0.85. The total bookings for the new Airbus
A 350XWB is at impressive 362 units from airline companies and private customers.
Boeing is also introducing its new aircraft, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Boasting new design built with mostly composites materials it is claimed to be 20% more fuel efficient and also capable of cruising at Mach 0.85. The total booking for Boeing 787 Dreamliner is at 448 units from airlines around the world.
As these two aircrafts will be built mostly using the composites materials, it presents a unique opportunity for CTRM to offer its expertise, knowledge and capabilities of manufacturing composites aero structures required by both world-renowned aircrafts manufacturers.
After all, CTRM has been and is still supplying composite aero structures for both aircraft manufacturers for different category.

In conjunction with the previous Defence Services Asia (DSA)
2008, CTRM was awarded a contract to design, manufacture,
supply, install and commission 2 units of RADOME by the Ministry
of Defence Malaysia for the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
This was indeed another testament to the capabilities and
technological know-how possessed by CTRM in its effort to
diversify its business activities and becoming a reputable local
defence contractor.
RADOME is a sphere shape structure built to protect the radar
antenna or radar dish from the damaging environment elements
that might effect the rotation of radar, which in turn could cause
the radar not the be operational at its maximum capacity to
safeguard our national airspace.
RADOME
Materials used to build the RADOME must be able to withstand
the damaging environment elements and at the same time
must not block the electromagnetic wave emitted by the radar
antenna.
As such, armed with more than 17 years of experience in
manufacturing composites aero structures for major aircraft
manufacturers, CTRM applied its know how and the technology it
possessed to design, manufacture, supply, install and commission
