Az új év kezdete mindig alkalmat ad arra, hogy értékeljük az eddig történteket, levonjuk a tanulságokat, és új célokat tűzzünk ki magunk elé. Mindig akad olyan tényező, amiben rájövünk, még van hova fejlődnünk. Azonban nem szabad csak a hézagokra koncentrálni, értékelnünk kell minden egyes eredményt, hiszen ezek mögött kemény munka áll. Bízom benne, hogy az ünnep mindannyiuk számára kel-lemesen telt, és élményekkel feltöltődve érkeznek vissza hivatalukba. Feladat az új évre is akad bőven, globális és mikroszinten egyaránt. Hiszek abban, hogy az egyéni törekvések és a példamu-tatás is képes elindítani egy pozitív lánco-latot. Ha helytállunk hivatásunkban, fi-gyelünk a körülöttünk lévő emberekre, egy szebb világot teremthetünk a környe-zetünkben. A saját felelősségünk, hogyan élünk ezekkel a lehetőségekkel, és a ránk ruházott hatalommal.

A 2017-es év igazán eseménydús volt itthon és a nagyvilágban is. A nemzetkö-zi politikai események közül kiemelkedő figyelem kísérte Donald Trump amerikai elnök és Emmanuel Macron francia köz-társasági elnök megválasztását. Hazánkról leginkább a sikeres sportesemények kap-csán lehetett hallani, melyek az országi-mázs építéséhez is jelentősen hozzájárul-tak, és tömegesen vonzották az idelátoga-tó turistákat. Örömünket szomorú esemé-nyek is beárnyékolták, mint például az olaszországi földrengés, a manchesteri vagy a barcelonai terrortámadás. Tiszta szívemből kívánom, hogy a 2018-as év sokkal békésebb időszak legyen szerte a világban!

Szerkesztőségünk idén is jelen lesz és tudósít a diplomáciai testület rendezvényeiről, valamennyi nemzeti ünnepről és fogadásról. Exklu-zív nagyköveti és konzuli interjúkkal, publicisztikákkal készülünk. Köszönjük eddigi bizalmukat, és a jövőben is arra törekszünk, hogy mindig izgalmas olvasnivalót ajánljunk.

The beginning of a new year always gives the opportunity to eval-uate the past events, draw a lesson, and set new goals for the future. There is always a factor where there is room for improvement. Yet it is not wise to concentrate on hiatuses, as every achievement must be appreciated, because there is hard work behind them. I do trust that everybody had happy holidays, and go back to work filled with nice experiences. There are a lot of tasks for the new year both on a global

and on a micro level. I am convinced that individual endeavour and setting of exam-ples can start a positive chain of acts. If somebody does well in their work, take care of the people around them then a better world can be built around them. It is the individual’s responsibility how they use these possibilities and the power con-ferred upon them.

2017 was a really busy year both in Hungary and in the world. In interna-tional politics special attention was given to the election of US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron. Hungary was in the news be-cause of the successful sports events, which greatly contributed to the building of the country image and attracted crowds of tourists. However, some sad events, such as the earthquake in Italy and the terrorist attacks in Manchester and Barcelona, cast shadows over the joy.

I wish from the depth of my heart that 2018 will be a much more peaceful year all over the world.

This year our editorial staff will be again present to cover the events of the diplomatic corps, as well as all the celebrations and receptions. There will also be exclusive interviews with ambassadors and consuls, and special articles. Thank You for Your trust so far and we will do our best to give You exciting reading in the future as well.
