• Mustankorkea delivers biogas with 1,9km transfer pipe straight in to our facility
• Power plant runs on gas which has 30 – 75% methane
• Mustankorkea biogas has good qualities likehigh methane percentage and low siloxaneconcentration

• To burn the gas, it must be pressurized. Compressorspressurize gas up to 5,7 bar
• Double compressors are used for reliability and highusability
• One compressor is the master and the other is in slave mode. Automatic change is done if onecompressor fails or needs maintenance and thusenergy production can continue without any downtime

• Turbines need pure gas so activated carbon is being used to filter the impurities off
• Gas flows through activated carbon and harmful impuritieslike siloxanes are removed
• Tanks are doubled so that activated carbon can be changedwhile the turbines are running. This also creates high usabilityand cost effectiveness

• The gas is burned in Capstone turbine which rotates the generator and creates energy
• Turbines are similar to airplane turboshaft jet engines
• Turbines rotate at high speeds: 20 000- 60 000 revolutions per minute
• Power is adjusted by changing the amount of revolutions
• One unit produces 200kW

• Around 1 MW of energy is taken to heat up the district heating network of Jyväskylä city
• Equivalent energy production of about 470 households’ annual energyconsumption
• Water is heated and pumped to customers and recirculated back to the powerplant to heat it up again
• Energy is extracted in big heat exchangers

• Biogas is an enviromentally friendly fuel
• Exhaust gas is invisible and very pure compared to conventional methods
