Notice is hereby given of a public participation process in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act 107 of 1998) (“NEMA”)

and the EIA Regulations (2014) as amended, as well as the National Water Act, 1998 (Act 36 of 1998) (“NWA”); for the application for environmental authorisation (EA):

EnviroAfrica cc has been appointed by Napier Berries (Pty.) LTD. to undertake the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed project. Project Description & Location: 34° 29'' 49.29”S 19° 54' 11.24”E

This application is for the proposed clearance of not more than 20ha of natural vegetation for an agricultural development on Portion 3 Farm No. 143, Vierfontein, Napier. The proposed location overlaps existing agricultural land. According to maps on Cape Farm Mapper the vegetation that can be expected on the site is Overberg Sandstone Fynbos; the site partially falls within a Critical Biodiversity Area Category 2 (CBA2: Terrestrial) and an Ecological Support Area Category 1 (ESA 1: Terrestrial); and the Klipdrifriver flows past the western border of the farm with a non-perennial stream intersecting the property.

Description of Alternatives:

Alternative includes layout options and the option of not proceeding with the proposed development (the No-Go option) will be discussed in the application process.
