General

Calibrate

The calibration set a define mechanical fix-point, which use as zero point for the encoder

system. A adjustment template fix the zero point. The drive system store this value.

Latching position drive (German: „Rastpositionsfahrt“)

This process is necessary only for synchronous motors, for adjust the motor encoder to the

rotor of the motor. The encoder stores this value permanent. The drive system set the motor

current dependent of rotor position (motor management).

Reserve motors normally ready adjust at factory.

Synchronous motors know by type name: DS...(example: DS100M35)

Attention please

It is absolute necessary to follow the instructions to build-in the adjustment template.

Auxiliary means

• Program: MPP_Toolbox.exe

• Cable PC-COM to connect -X23 MDrive (Baumüller Controller)

Cable: 9pins SubD connector male and female

Preconditions

• Circumferential register and lateral register set to zero • Unloading the product

• Set Impression ON with operator keyboard or directly the pneumatic valve

Steps

− Adjustment template must build-in, follow the adjustment instructions, if necessary dismount guards

− Connect PC and motor controller (MDrive) − Start program MPP_Toolbox and set up the unit, choose operation „calibrate“

− Carry out („Start“ und „Continue“)

- Set unit „free“ – remove hand wheel, close all guards, clear faults

- Set hardware signals through loading product or set unit in setup mode

Program works interactive, all steps are explain.

Check

• Simple check you can do with the automatic plate positioning. Test if the stop point correct.

• Build in adjustment template and read out with MPP_Toolbox operation: „M0-check“.

The value should be between 359,95..0.05 degree.

− Adjustment template must build-in, follow the adjustment instructions − Connect PC and motor controller (MDrive) − Start program MPP_Toolbox and set up the unit, choose operation „get latching position“

− Carry out („Start“ und „Continue“)

- Set unit „free“ – remove hand wheel, close all guards, clear faults

- Set hardware signals through loading product or set unit in setup mode

Important

Through this operation „latching position“ get the calibration value invalid for folder-types KFZ - with only one encoder on the motor side. Following have to calibrate the folder.

This is not necessary on folder KFN.

Tips

Always the process can interrupt through Safe STOP push button.

During the process you can watch a oscillate movement.

Drives with faulty latching position:

• Motor haven’t full moment

• After the switch on the motor do uncontrolled move, turn direction is indefinite

Causes:

• Read error between MDrive controller and encoder, know when after a reset the fault not more exist

• Encoder fault

Printing Unit [Regioman / Uniset 65 / Uniset 75 / Geoman 70]

Preconditions

• Circumferential register and lateral register set to zero • Unloading the product • Mobile box connect in the drive control cabinet • Set test switch on, the drive that you work on

• Set Impression ON with operator keyboard or directly the pneumatic valve

Steps

− Press Safe STOP push button prior to working in the unit hern

− Adjustment template must build-in, follow the adjustment instructions, if necessary dismount guards

− Press button ones „calibrate“: signal lamp will sparkle

(background: now present angle stored)

− Remove adjustment template! Do not move the cylinder!

− Set unit „free“, remove hand wheel, close all guards

− Release Safe STOP push button − Press operating box „calibrate“: the horn ring 3s, do start the calibration in the next 12s with: − Press operating box „calibrate“ again to start calibration: signal lamp is on, cylinder will turn on

After the detection of sensor the cylinder stop, the calibration is finish: signal lamp is off

− Set test switch off, disconnect the mobile box Tips

Always the process can interrupt through Safe STOP push button: - Press Safe STOP push button, then - Reset the procedure: press simultaneous button „+“ und „-“ signal lamp off

Do you interrupt the process, so is invalid the calibration. It is necessary to do a complete cycle.

− Press button ones „calibrate“: signal lamp will sparkle

− Release Safe STOP push button − Press button ones „calibrate“: signal lamp will sparkle (background: now present angle stored) − Press operating box „calibrate“ again to end the calibration: signal lamp is going off

Hint: The folder do not turn on, because the encoder is mount direct!

− Remove the adjustment template

− Set test switch off, disconnect the mobile box

Check

Steps

− Press Safe STOP push button prior to working in the unit hern

− Adjustment template must build-in, follow the adjustment instructions, follow the adjustment instructions of the folder manual

− Remove the adjustment template, the folder brake holding still the unit

− Press button ones „calibrate“: signal lamp will sparkle

(background: now present angle stored)

− Release Safe STOP push button

− Press operating box „calibrate“: the horn ring 3s, do start the calibration in the next 12s with:

− Press operating box „calibrate“ again to start calibration: signal lamp is on, cylinder will turn on

− After the detection of sensor the cylinder stop, the calibration is finish: signal lamp is off

− Set test switch off, disconnect the mobile box

• Unloading the product • Mobile box connect in the drive control cabinet • Set test switch on, the drive that you work on

Preconditions

• Check the free motion of motor drive, which needs to set up with the new latch position:

system 1 motor 2 motors example folder with one motor,

exfeed, infeed folder with two motors

prepare folder: should not be in the near of the tucker blade, move with handwheel in the middle of an

easy range

dismount the motor which needs to set up

− Press mobile box „approach latched position“-button once: the warning horn will sound. − After that starts the process. The motor shaft should make a rapid jerk into the latch position. − The process is finished, then the lamp „approach latched position“ is OFF. IF you think the

procedure was not O.K., repeat it. − Set test switch off. − Disconnect the mobile box

Important

Through this operation „get latching position“ get the calibration value invalid for folder-types KFZ - with only one encoder on the motor side. Following have to calibrate the folder.
