HISTORY
Kampung Simee is one of the new villages built by the British authorities
during the colonial days. In 1950, British government decided to surround the village
with an electric wire fence in order to prevent the villagers from communicating with
or supplying aid to the communists. According to the old villagers, Simee had only
about 10 houses when it. The population gradually increased followed by the
location of people from nearby places such as Kampung Kepayang and Hwa Keow to
Kampung Simee.
The first public facility in the village is the police station. This was followed
by the wet market and Chinese primary school. Period of during the emergency in
Malaya the village had only one exit gate. The gate was opened in the early morning
which was around 6.30am and it would be closed at around 6.00pm. In these days
most villagers worked as rubber tapper; tin mine workers, and farmers.
Simee was surrounded by rubber estates and tin mines. In the early days, the
village road was not tarred. Around 1963, the former prime minister, Tun Abdul
Razak, approved the resurfacing the village roads with bitumin.
After that, the population of Simee village increased as more Indians and
Malays moved in. Following that, Hindu temples and an Indian primary school were
construsted. This was followed by the establishment of the village mosque.
Nowadays, the village of Simee is surrounded by housing projects such as
Taman Wah Keong, Taman Bintang, Taman Mirindi, Taman West Pool, and Ipoh
Garden. The majority of residents from these housing estates patronize Simee’s wet
market for their daily groceries. That is one of the reasons behind the growth of
Simee new village.

PROBLEM
There is a shortage of parking lots around the wet market. As a result, the
villagers parked their cars and motorcycles at the junction of the road. This causes
massive traffic jam.
RECOMMENDATION
Although numerous public facilities and government departments are
available at Kampung Simee, this new village does not have a post office or bank. It
is recommended that the government considers setting up a post office. Kampung
Simee has primary schools only. We suggest that the government looks into
establishing a secondary school so that the children of Kampung Simee do not need to
travel far for their secondary school education. For the safety of the villagers, setting
up a fire station within or very close to the village is important.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Paragon Hotel is a new hotel recently built and located about 50 meters away
from Simee. With new accommodation being built, there are business opportunities
available around the area. For example new restaurants, gas station, car rental service
and convenience store could be started. Furthermore, with more and more public
facilities and government department building nearby, these are opportunities for
economic growth at Simee.
Besides, there is also a private specialist centre- Fatimah Hospital which is
located 150 meters away from Simee. This has made access to medical/facilities
much easier for the villagers. There are opportunities for tuition centers in Kampung
Simee. Currently, the parents at Simee send their children to nearby towns for tuition.
If there a tuition centre in Simee, it would likely be well supported by villagers.
