    Company Profile

In 1978, EMEK commissioned her own research and testing laboratory capable of performing all the routine and type tests of instrument transformers (except the short time current test for current transformers). Later, a 5 meter high climatic room capable of going down to -45C was added to the laboratory. In 1982, EMEK realized the first export of instrument transformers, when 145 kV current and voltage transformers were exported to WAPDA, Pakistan. In 1994, EMEK was granted ISO 9001 certification by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE). Additionally, EMEK was also accredited with ISO 9001 from Independent International Institutes since 1997, currently EMEK has ISO9001:2008 and 14001:2004 certificates from ABS Quality Evaluations INC valid till 2012. Emek has the annual capacity to manufacture 7500 units of oil filled and 35000 units of epoxy resin instrument transformers, 2000 units of disconnecting switches and 1500 MVAR of power capacitors.

EMEK ELEKTRK ENDSTRS A.. aim to manufacture high quality and reliable products, taking both safety and environmental requirements into consideration. EMEK quality for design and manufacturing, has been certified by both local and international institutes. EMEK has become a renowned world trademark for delivery, quality and service.EMEK was established in 1969 as the first company of BARMEK Holding and production began in a small workshop in Ankara. EMEK signed a licence agreement with Balteau, Belgium in 1971 for the transfer of technology to manufacture oil filled current transformers and inductive voltage transformers up to 170 kV. The agreement also included transfer of technology for cast epoxy resin instrument transformers. In 1972, EMEK moved to her new plant, 23 km from downtown Ankara. Today, the plant comprises of 11,500 m covered area and 27,500 m open area. In 1975, EMEK signed another technology transfer agreement with ICAR Italy, for manufacturing of capacitive voltage transformers and LV power capacitors.

  • Frequency50Hz, 60Hz

    Rated CurrentUp to 2500A

Short time Thermal CurrentShort time thermal current up to 40kA / 1 second is available.Under fault conditions pressure between contacts increase,

provide excellent short time current capability.

Number of PolesOne or three poles are availableEach pole contains a frame, two rotating post insulators and two

    main contacts that move horizontally.

Ambient TemperatureStandard design is suitable for temperature range -25 C to 40 C.

AltitudeStandard design is suitable up to 1000m above sea level.

Main ContactsSelf clearing silver plated contacts are able to withstand

environmental pollutants.Up to 1600A rated current main contacts are 20m silver coated

copper, for higher current levels 30 m silver coated copper is provided.

Finger type main contacts ensure auto alignment during the closing operation.

The pressure on the contacts in closed position is adequate for keeping the temperature rise within limits.

The main contacts rotate 90 degrees to open and close the disconnector.

Control CubicleThe control cubicle is made of high grade stainless

steel to prevent corrosion.Painting or similar maintenance is not required during

the switchgear lifetime. The control cubicle contains a thermostat to control

heater to prevent condensation.Breathing vents are fitted with brass screen mesh to

    prevent insect entry.

BearingThe bearings, which carry the major mechanical load of the

disconnectors, are made of stainless steel and Teflon (PTFE)components.

Bearings are closed to the environment and do not requiremaintenance.

The post insulators are mounted on rotating bearings, whichare mounted on the U type frame.

    DISCONNECTING SWITCHESAuxillary Contacts

Auxiliary contacts are procured from well knownmanufacturers who have specialized and are experiencedin this type or switches.

In our standard design 8NO 8NC auxillary contacts with two limit switches are supplied. The number of contact may vary according to request.

4 NO 4NC auxillary contacts for earthing blade is supplied in our standard desgin. The number of contact may vary according to request.

PackingThe disconnecting switches are packed in

rugged wooden crates which are suitable for overseas transportation.

Insulators and active parts are packed in separate boxes.

AssemblyBefore the assembly, following visual checks should be made;Ensure that there is no crack on the insulatorsEnsure that the surface of insulator is cleanEnsure that there is no damage on mechanical parts

Main BladesRed coloured aluminium main and earthing blades are supplied. Electrical and Mechanical interlock is supplied between main

    and earthing blades.

Earthing BladesThe material of earthing blades is aluminium which is provided

in red colour. In case required one or two earthing blades can be supplied.Motor and manual operating mechanism can be provided.

Operating MechanismMotor and manual operating mechanisms are available.

Control MechanismLocal/remote switch is provided to avoid local and remote

control at the same time. The universal joint between the gear box and the rotating

mechanism ensures silent and safe operation.

Motor The motors can be AC or DC upon request and can run

between 85% and 110% of rated voltage.Manual operation is

possible only after mechanical and electricalinterlocks are in effect, thus accidental motor operation during hand operation is impossible.

Motors can be controlled remotely or locally, with the push buttons located in the control cubicle.
