Dear Santa,
you have asked for creativity to come up with new ideas to answer your increasing delivery, distribution and storage needs. Moreover, to provide an unforgettable experience for visitors from all around the world. So here we are with the new design of your logistics center for the city of Oulu - Santa’s Mountain.
From flat to raisedPerhaps the most important element of the new logistic hub is its mountain peak shape that represents strong logistic center which reaches heaven and creates “foretress” for “future foretresslike”, by its power and quality, products. This shape is inspired by the traditional gable roof design and mountain natural elements which grow up from the flat surface and transform it. The design is about new complex that highlights both nature and culture.
Creative working placeWhen approached to the site, the whole complex appears almost to grow from the ground. With 14000 msq approximatel total area of the building we offer you various programme and spatial division of this new two storey building complex. Whole hub is divided into three parts: storage area and office spaces on the first floor and privat area with Santa’s office, meeting room, terrace and lounge on the second floor. We also propose offices for the storage on the second floor due to the connectivity and better control under storage manipulation that you can easily enter from your office as well and see what is happening. To demonstrate RUUKKI’s power and increase creativity we design system of columns in tree shape which have different height according to the roof slope. This tree shape columns seem from particular point of view like pointed arch to manifest glory and wealthiness of your company.

Current pavilion is inspired by picture Zebras by the famous opartist Victor Vasarely. We decided to build it for 50s Anniversary of Opart, which will be next year. The pavilion is consisted of four similar struction, that are shaped from frames. The frames are rotated and structure made several levels. The real pavilion will be build from concrete and the model in the scale 1:20 was built from plaster by robot. We used robot for pressing the clay by desk in shape of arch, in the right angle and rotation. In the second part the robot takes out the clay. Finally we put plaster and liquid plaster in the form, that was created by robot. Real pavilion will be conected by tensioned cables.

Schwimmende Wandernde Galerie /Schulstudio Ing. arch. akad. arch.

Urbo Kune- the common city of Europe/ Theoretical work; consultant Ing. arch. akad. arch. Petr Hájek, Jan Tabor ( Forum experimentelle Architektur)
At the beginning I would like to say that Europe is consisted of a lot of different countries and nations, so my work is about how to find the way of connection. In Europe there are 46 countries, some of them are similar. Some of them are totally different .But I was looking for something what we had common. And I remembered the story the tower of Babel which we knew from Bibel. The story is about that people wanted to built the city as a tower in which they will not be disperse around the world. But the tower was more for the glory of men than for the God so he became angry and gave people different language. They didn´t understand each other and they had to go away so after that there were created nations. My idea is more about the nations than the countries because I think borders are sometimes not so natural. So Urbo Kune should be something like a treasury of each nation which can keep the culture, history and especially the language. Because the language was
the common attribute and using this character into the language group or family we can find the relationship. I would like to create the City of Understanding. The most difficult problem was to say where? Where should be this ,,city”?. That is very hard to say because in Europe there is no ,, free “ land or land of no one, and to find some code where it is right place I am still not sure about my conclusion. I didn´t want to prefer some country, where will be localized this city. I chose that it can be in the central point of Europe, but it is also not so clear because the borders of Europe are not defined. During the history of Europe there were a lot of central points, some of them were measured in favor of the country and I chose one, which was fixed by scientist an expert. It is situated in Lithuania. From this place I put directions where the languages grew. I got roots with one centre, because this is the one place which should be the same for all of them (only Samoyedic group is totally different). At the end
it looks like roots of tree, or branch, on the end of each branch is nowadays language like English, German, Italian and so on, there are also death languages for example Latin church, or totally death branch is Anatolian. You can start at point where you understand everything and through the building you can see and learn the protolanguage of your mother tongue. So you will go step by step in the centre of the building (language institute) and maybe if you will find some men from another root you will understand each other because the protolanguage should be same for all roots. It is only basic idea, because nowadays we don´t have any knowledge about this protolanguages, but maybe if we will put it together in this building we will see.

LINK PUBLIC & WATERFRONT ELEVATE THE BUILDING
Inspired by maritime forms (water, waves, wind & ships) the building is designed to symbolically reflect the impact of the museum on the national and international art scene by “causing waves” and by being visible even further than the harbor of Helsinki. The building, as well as the national art scene of Finland, is in a constant state of change which is articulated by the fluid forms and the dynamic shapes of the exterior. Regional timber used for parts of the structure and in the interior creates the high quality appearance of a luxurious sail ship.
To build the new Guggenheim museum in Helsinki is most likely one of the most interesting and challenging projects of this time. The outstanding site at the waterfront of Helsinki’s harbor, the proximity of the museum to the vivid city center of Helsinki and the precious sights and parks that surround this new building are just a few constraints that need to be considered for this proposal. The immense impact of the museum on the city of Helsinki, but also on the national and international art scene adds additional facets of responsibilities to this project. This proposal respects the existing surroundings and integrates itself within the built und public context by enhancing the quality of the adjunct public spaces. Its design is taking on the challenge to be the new sight in the city by communicating with the city and the world at the same time by its appearance and its particular function as a lighthouse. The proposed museum is linking the park with the waterfront in the harbor. The public gains access to the waterfront at the
main entrance in the north by generating a public plaza with an adjunct boardwalk along the museum. By lifting up the exhibition space the park is extended on the roof of the building and provides outdoor space for exhibitions, perfor-mances and public life with marvelous views over the harbor by granting the important views from the park towards the cathedral. The elevated museum improves the overall quality of all public spaces (plaza, terrace, cafes & restaurant) while securing the access and usability of the terminal and the dock level.
The south end of the building is designed as a tower, that frames the views from the city, but also functions as a welcoming screen towards the sea and the arriving cruise ships. The tower is visible from the sea and throughout the city so that the museum is becoming the new light house of Helsinki.
