KINGS OF LEON - SUPERSOAKER

• Supersoaker by Kings of Leon is a song about love based in the 1950s/60s. We

see this throughout the video also as the effect used in the video is a vintage/retro

look.

• At the beginning of the video, we see it says ‘Sentimental girls’, this is a lyric from

the song which connotes the theme and narrative of the song and shows it’s

about love and girls.

• In the beginning, they have also used vintage glasses which were used in the 50s.

This shows the visual style of the video and what to expect throughout the music

video and the whole theme.

• Throughout the video, a lot of pop-art screening is used. By using this effect, it

gives off a rock and roll 1950s vibe.

• Also, a lot of different effects are used such as black and white and also sepia

effect. This reflects the different moods and colors in that time period.

• Kings of Leon have introduced the old fashioned Americana again which refers to

milkshake bars, rockabilly hairstyles and also the make up. The make up that is

used on females is bright red lipstick which is the style of people such as Marilyn

Monroe and females consider Marilyn Monroe to be their role model.

• The shot type used most in this music video includes close ups and mid shots.

These shot types are mainly used on the band members. This allows the

audience to identify their faces as it is a performance video and also it shows their

instruments. This is very common in rock videos as the audience also like seeing

the band perform.

• Their image throughout the video is shown to be vintage/indie clothing. This

shows they have matched it to the theme of their song. They are wearing jean

jackets, t-shirts and skinny jeans. This is a common for an indie artist/band to

wear therefore it shows they are keeping their representation of clothing the way it

should be.
