Staff Committee (PA) The Staff Committee deals with most of the human resources issues and ensures that the existing laws and regulations, for example those applying to employment or pay scale grouping, are applied properly. Occupational Health and Safety Committee (AAS) The Occupational Health and Safety Committee is responsible for the observance of the rights and duties within occupational safety and contributes to shaping workplaces, work flows, and work environments. Further Education Committee (AWA) The Further Education Committee cooperates with the Youth and Apprentices Representation and deals with all issues related to persons serving an apprenticeship or gaining further qualifications. Data Privacy Protection Committee (DSA) The Data Privacy Protection Committee prepares decisions of the Staff Council that are related to the use of data processing technologies at KIT while ensuring that the data privacy rights of the employees are safeguarded. Gender Equality Committee (GLA) The Gender Equality Committee is responsible for enforcing at KIT the gender equality rights determined by the German Basic Law. Conflict Prevention and Social Matters Committee (ASK) The Conflict Prevention and Social Matters Committee represents the social interests of the employees, arbitrates between employees in the case of conflicts at work, and deals with all issues of substance abuse. The KIT Staff Council

watches over the equal treatment of all colleagues in compliance with law and justice independent of their gender, religion, nationality, birth or social origin, political or union activities or attitudes,

moves general measures to the benefit of the employees,

watches over the compliance with laws, regulations, and works agreements,

forwards employees’ labor grievances and suggestions to the employer and ensures that they are taken care of,

contributes to the avoidance of accidents and health hazards, supports those responsible for occupational safety, and stands up for the implementation of health and occupational safety measures,

represents the interests of severely handicapped or equivalent staff, supports their occupational development, and cooperates with the representatives for disabled employees,

looks after gender equality and cooperates with the gender equality representatives,

concludes works agreements.

The KIT Staff Council is governed by the regulations of the Baden-Wuerttemberg Employee Representation Law (Landespersonalvertretungsgesetz – LPVG).
