Entrepreneurial output
The rate of creation of new businesses in Canada is regularly higher than the rate of business closures.
A bit more than half of Canadian businesses survive their first five years of activity.
The survival rate of Canadian businesses is better
than that in other countries.
Entrepreneurial output
The rate of entrepreneurship has been stagnant or dropping in the country since 2005.
To evaluate the number of new entrepreneurs in the country, we counted Canadians who became independent workers and who also hired employees. These people made up 0.3% of the active population in 2005 compared to 0.23% in 2011.
