Redefining what’s possible with 3D imaging

As an oral health professional, you’ve worked in 3D your entire career. Drawing on your knowledge of anatomy, fine tactile sense, and 2D radiographic exams, you’ve become used to perceiving your patients’ anatomy based on mental three-dimensional reconstructions. Unfortunately, you’ve lacked appropriate technology to see exactly what you’re working with, which can lead to guesswork, reduced treatment efficacy, and a less efficient practice.

Enter Kodak 3D imaging – a more detailed physical manifestation of your mental picture and a new dimension of insight into the clinical situations you encounter every day. Affordable, safe, and customizable to fit the needs of both general and specialized practices, Kodak 3D extraoral imaging systems represent the most comprehensive lineup of 3D imaging systems on the market today.

Unmatched resolution

Using cutting edge technology, low-dose cone beam radiation, and industry-leading image software, Kodak 3D systems give you the best possible view of your patients’ anatomy. Not only do the images help you make better treatment decisions, but sharing them with patients and referrals allows you to communicate more clearly than ever before about treatment plans.

Unmatched safety

With radiation dosages as much as 80% less than competing 3D systems (see chart on page 16), Kodak CBCT imaging systems make getting great images faster and safer than ever before.

Unmatched flexibility

Depending on the needs of your practice, you can choose from systems that offer panoramic and cephalometric combined with 3D imaging, or dedicated CBCT systems with medium- and/or large-fields of view.

Unmatched software

With the most intuitive and comprehensive software you’ll find on the market, Kodak 3D extraoral imaging systems allow you to manipulate images in an infinite number of ways. This gives you the opportunity to look at any anatomical situation for every possible perspective, all with 1:1 anatomical accuracy. That means precise measurements and views that will give you all the information you need to plan and execute efficient treatments.

Unmatched integration

All Kodak CBCT imaging systems output industry standard DICOM images which easily integrate with other DICOM environments, including high quality printers. And because Kodak CBCT systems integrate perfectly with easy-to-use Kodak imaging and practice management software, you’ll receive everything you need to manipulate, print, share, and archive your images.

Top and Bottom Right: The Kodak 9000C 3D system is a hybrid 3-in-1 solution that presents a complete and versatile diagnostic imaging modality. Incorporating cutting edge “one shot” cephalometric technology with high-quality panoramic imaging enhanced with high resolution 3D imaging, this unit is the perfect imaging system to cover all diagnostic imaging needs in the dental practice.

Top Left: The Kodak 9000 3D system offers a 2-in-1 solution for incorporating a high resolution panoramic imaging system as well as 3D imaging technology. This solution is perfect for practitioners who don’t require cephalometric imaging in their practices. This system is engineered specifically to allow the practice to benefit from two high resolution imaging modalities in one machine. With the 3D CBCT modality, this unit allows the highest resolution 3D imaging on the market.

Bottom Left: The Kodak 9500 conebeam 3D system has been engineered to obtain larger fields of view and is the perfect solution for practices that require more diagnostic information for complex orthodontic cases, implantology, complex pathologic imaging, orthognathic surgical cases work up, and generalized radiologic imaging of the maxillofacial area. This unit is available in two different configurations to fit your specific needs.

Orthodontics: better images for better treatmentComplement your cephalometric and panoramic imaging

Impacted supernumerary teeth can often be difficult to visualize with limited 2D imaging modalities. With the addition of high resolution 3D imaging, the diagnosis can be simplified. Information gained from the Kodak 9000 3D system allows the practitioner to evaluate the presence of supernumerary teeth, the position relative to the adjacent teeth with all anatomical accuracy, and any pathology associated with the impaction. This information allows for a confident comprehensive treatment plan along with key determinants for surgical approaches to removal, if required.

The Kodak 9500 3D system large-field of view gives you the ability to provide comprehensive dental and skeletal assessment of your patients prior to beginning treatment. Create all necessary images from just one 3D scan, including 2D lateral and frontal cephalometric, panoramic, SMV and TMJ images. This scan can even be used to produce a digital model.

The Kodak 9500 3D system medium-field of view limits the field of view to the maxillomandibular complex – very beneficial for performing a comprehensive 3D radiologic examination of the patient before, during, or after orthodontic treatment. In this case, it reveals the exact location of the impacted left maxillary cuspid. The 3D volumetric rendering and cross-section viewing pinpoints the tooth’s location and the impact of its position on the surrounding anatomical structures.

Left Bottom: 2D image taken after root canal treatment demonstrating adequate obturation of the three canals in the mesial root. Prior diagnostic knowledge obtained from the 3D image allowed for identification of this canal pre-operatively.

Right Top: 3D image with a 76 micron high resolution axial slice clearly reveals three canals in the mesial root of the lower left first molar.

Right Bottom: Intraoperative view confirms the exact canal anatomy as seen on the Kodak 9000 3D system image obtained pre-operatively. This diagnostic knowledge can lead to expedited and more predictable treatment.

“ Cone Beam technology could be the most powerful addition to an

Endodontist’s armamentarium in the twenty-first century. Its ability to bypass

the problems of anatomic noise found in 2D radiographs is outstanding.

CBCT provides us with an improved ability to see apical lesions, predetermine

canal morphology, and clearly observe and accurately diagnose resorptions.

This helps us provide more accurate diagnoses, prognoses, patient education,

and treatment plans. Knowledge of the canal morphology before beginning

treatment effectively shortens treatment time and reduces the risk of “missed”

canals. This technology has been a great enhancement to my practice of Endodontics.”

Implantology: better images for better planning 3D images accurately portray the patient’s anatomy

Implant planning with 3D imaging modalities is rapidly becoming mainstream. The Kodak 9000 3D system has the ability to scan a wide range of areas. You can easily acquire a small, focused area (5 cm x 3.75 cm) of the maxillary or mandibular arch, the TMJ or Sinus. If your case requires larger areas, you can put the Kodak 9000 3D system into full-arch mode and acquire the maxillary or mandibular arch. Our comprehensive implant planning software makes treatment planning very simple and helps improve case acceptance.

“ Sometimes when we do a physical examination we believe there is enough bone

structure there to place an implant. It’s only after you

much bone as I thought was there.’ … certainly from

the treatment planning standpoint, it is invaluable to

have this tool.”

Advance visualization modules built into the 3D imaging module also allow for assessment of bone grafting and future implant surgeries.

“ One of the most effective ways that I have improved

my practice and case acceptance rates is by using

the scan as a teaching tool. I will sit down with the

patient and virtually place implants. This provides a

better mode than 2D radiography and allows my patients to conceptualize what the treatment plan entails. It also provides me

with the ability to send a CD to the referring dentist

so that we can evaluate the data if we need to confer

with one another. My patients also leave with a

printout of their treatment plan.”

3D sagittal slice identifies a maxillary right cuspid root fracture and large area of periapical low density, consistent with abscess formation. The palatal cortical plate of bone is still attached while the facial cortical plate is breached at the level of the fracture. Extraction and socket grafting is needed to repair and prepare the site for future implantation.

“ Utilizing an in-office dental CBCT for 3D diagnostics in preparation for and during

periodontal examinations and consultations is no longer an option, but a necessity. The

periodontist has always been thought of as the consummate diagnostician and treatment

planner in the dental community. Until now, we periodontists have carefully gathered

the 2D information and have skillfully imagined it in 3D, in order to make treatment

recommendations. Now, I can offer my referral team and patients accurate 3D restorative

guidance to improve our quality assurance and care. All of our doctors can easily navigate

the Kodak 3D software and our patients understand the 3D information presented. Finally,

CBCT is not just for implants but for restorative and periodontal diagnostics and treatment.

Dentistry just got a whole lot safer.”– Dr. Steven J. Feldman, DDS, Periodontist, Venice, Florida

a new dimension ofvalueStarting at less than $100,000, you’d think the Kodak

9000 3D system would be a “no frills” entry level

system, but the truth is quite the opposite. The award-

winning 3D images are fast and brilliant. The software is

simple to use. The dosage is 10 to 30 times lower than

other 3D systems. The Kodak 9000 3D unit provides

cutting edge panoramic images and when upgraded

to a Kodak 9000C 3D unit also provides cephalometric

images perfect for initial diagnoses. When you put it all

together, nothing gives you as much image and as much

detail for the money as the Kodak 9000 3D system.

Designed to improve treatment outcomes

Say goodbye to guesswork and multiple treatment visits

– the Kodak 9000 3D and 9000C 3D systems quickly

deliver all the information you need to help make an

accurate diagnosis on the spot. That means faster

treatment and a more efficient, profitable practice.

Because the Kodak 9000 3D and 9000C 3D systems

feature a localized field of view, you enjoy images

with high resolution and smaller voxel size that make

it easy to see minute details other 3D systems miss.

Even demanding endodontic and single implant exams

are faster and easier than ever before.

Low dosage, high quality

The Kodak 9000 3D system provides doses that are

substantially lower than previously reported doses

produced by medium and large FOV CBCT units.+

Because exposure is confined only to the localized area

of interest, the systems stay true to the principle of

ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable), giving you

superior quality 3D images with better protection for

your patients.

Easy for patients, easy for you

With a streamlined user interface and computer-

controlled system, the Kodak 9000 3D or 9000C

3D systems make exams quick and simple. Once you

choose your region of interest, the device automatically

positions itself there. Then, you simply position

the patient using a unique bite block and lateral

supports. After that, it takes just seconds to make final

adjustments using the laser beam positioning guides.

Your patient enjoys a quick, comfortable experience –

and you get the best 3D image available today.

One of the biggest complaints we hear is that 3D

software is just too difficult to use. When we set out

to develop our 3D software, we kept this in mind. The

Kodak 3D imaging module is extremely intuitive, has a

short learning curve, and provides both the novice and

experienced user with all the tools they need to properly

evaluate and workup a case. Tools such as implant

planning, measurements, brightness and contrast, bone

density, obliques, cross-sections, MPR views, real-time

re-slicing, 3D rendering with custom color palettes, and

nerve tracing enable you to quickly and easily make full

use of your Kodak 3D system. If you need to share the

image and workup with your referral, simply click on the

CD icon and you can burn the complete image, along

with the 3D software, to a CD or DVD.

The panoramic view from the 3D volume displays the location of the mapped nerve canal as well as the vertical location of the implant.

Being able to display a transaxial view is critical to seeing the placement of the implant in the bone. The measurement of cortical and cancellous bone will let you know what you have to work with.

An overall view of the implant with the surrounding structures allows you to see how the implant will look and lets the patient get a better understanding of recommended treatment.

simplicity

Easily share data with anyone

Often, the data needs to be shared with a colleague or

referring doctor. The 3D imaging module has a CD/DVD

burning option that will copy the data as well as the

entire 3D software to a disk that can be shared.

Printing is easy, too!

Any of the views within the 3D imaging module can be

printed and added to a patient file, used for insurance

purposes, or even taken into surgery. Templates that

show an area of interest can be displayed in a wide

variety of ways.

Integrate images into patient records

in seconds

Capturing your active workspace into your patient’s

file is often a great way to maintain records on the

patient. The panoramic view from the Curved Slicing

tab or cephalometic view from a sagittal view can

be captured and maintained in the patient’s record.

The 3D rendering is the most understandable view

for a patient, and capturing the view that they best

understand can be done with 3D imaging module

screen capture tool.

Get instant density readings

Understanding the relative density of objects in the

3D volume is critical. A grayscale value of the images

is displayed in the lower right corner of the software

whenever you move your cursor over the area of

interest.
