The LEDER & SCHUH Group

The company is one of the largest shoe retailers in Europe and is continually strengthening its market presence. The main business areas are CORTI, DOMINICI, HUMANIC, JELLO and SHOE4YOU. As the market leader in Austria, number two in Hungary and Slovenia, number three in the Czech Republic and gaining mar-ket share in Germany and Slovakia, the company has been able to continually im-prove its market position, despite increa-sing competition. In Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania the LEDER & SCHUH Group has launched and is seeing its concepts be-coming establishing. In Poland, restructu-ring has been completed and in Switzer-land three locations have been closed. The LEDER & SCHUH Group currently has more than 370 locations and has been pursuing a consistent growth rate now for many years. Due to challenging global economic conditions, 2012 was a difficult year for the retail fashion industry. This was especially the case in the CEE coun-tries where the LEDER & SCHUH Group underwent painful, but necessary restruc-turings.

A heritage stretching back over 100 years in shoe production combined with mo-dern retail experience are the foundation of the LEDER & SCHUH Group’s position in the footwear industry. Shoe styles and culture are blended to the benefit of our customers. We also pride ourselves in our ability to spot fashion trends early, our relationships with top international pro-ducers, system controlled procurement transactions, sophisticated logistics and demanding quality management systems that ensure customers can have the very latest styles. At the same time, our atten-tion to quality in all aspects results in the highest production quality and attractive pricing.

Today, about 4.300 employees generate a sales of 543 million Euros. In everything we do, we focus on the individual. We also believe that team spirit and an open work environment are essential to our success. Ultimately, we conduct our business with one overarching objective – to impress our customers everyday with new and ex-citing fashion.

Das Unternehmen ist einer der größten Schuhanbieter Europas. Die wesentlichen Geschäftsfelder sind CORTI, DOMINICI, HUMANIC, JELLO, SHOE4YOU und STIEFELKÖNIG. Als Marktführer in Öster-reich, Nummer 2 in Ungarn und Slowenien, Nummer 3 in Tschechien, sowie mit wach-sender Bedeutung in Deutschland und der Slowakei, gelingt es dem Unterneh-men trotz zunehmendem Wettbewerbs-druck seine Marktstellung erfolgreich zu behaupten. In Bulgarien, Kroatien und Rumänien hat die LEDER & SCHUH Grup-pe den Markteintritt geschafft und ist da-bei, sich mit ihren Konzepten zu etablie-ren. In Polen wurde die Restrukturierung abgeschlossen, die drei Standorte in der Schweiz werden geschlossen. Die LEDER & SCHUH Gruppe verfügt derzeit über mehr als 370 Standorte und verfolgt seit vielen Jahren einen konsequenten Wachs-tumskurs. 2012 war jedoch aufgrund der globalen wirtschaftlichen Rahmenbe-dingungen, ein schwieriges Jahr für den modischen Einzelhandel. Das hat insbe-sondere in den CEE-Ländern auch für die LEDER & SCHUH Gruppe schmerzliche Umstrukturierungen notwendig gemacht.

Über 100-jährige Schuherzeugungs-tradition und modernstes Einzelhandels -Know-how bilden heute das Funda-ment der LEDER & SCHUH Gruppe in der Schuhwelt. Schuhmode und -kultur werden zum Vorteil der Kunden vereint. Frühes Erkennen von Modetrends, ko-operative Kollektionsentwicklung mit in-ternationalen Spitzenproduzenten, sys-temgesteuerte Beschaffungsvorgänge, eine ausgefeilte Logistik und perfektes Qualitätsmanagement lassen den Mode-vorsprung für Kunden erlebbar werden. Gleichzeitig resultieren daraus höchste Produktqualität und eine attraktive Preis-gestaltung.

Code of ConductThe LEDER & SCHUH Group does not own any production facilities; instead it has its products manufactured by hund-reds of partners worldwide. Our Code of Conduct commits all suppliers — among other things — to comply not only with local regulations regarding labour, social and environmental laws, but with inter-national standards, as well. The Code of Conduct is not, however, the only volun-tary agreement we have imposed upon ourselves. For years now, we have been orienting ourselves to the OECD (Orga-nisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) guidelines for multinatio-nal corporations, the policy statements of the ILO (International Labour Organizati-on) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

With its “Code of Ethics”, the LEDER & SCHUH Group calls on its employees to be respectful not only towards one ano-ther, but towards its stakeholders, as well. The company holds every individual in esteem and respect and protects their rights, regardless of their national origin, religion or gender. Discrimination, harass-ment and bullying are not tolerated. The company strives to provide each em- ployee with a safe and healthy workplace.

Quality ManagementWe strive for perfect product quality, which is why our products are tested in accordance with strict quality controls in order to guarantee good workman-ship and high wearing comfort. Require-ments concerning materials used in pro-duction can be found on the Internet, on pages accessible specifically to our sup-pliers. The pages are continually updated according to the latest findings in mate-rials research. Compliance with the con-tractual obligations is checked regularly in the course of supplier audits. Our goal is to exceed all legal requirements by living up to the high expectations of our customers.

Code of ConductDie LEDER & SCHUH Gruppe besitzt kei-ne eigenen Produktionsstätten, sondern lässt ihre Produkte von hunderten Part-nern weltweit produzieren. Unser Code of Conduct verpflichtet unter anderem alle Lieferanten dazu, nicht nur die lokalen ar-beits-, sozial- und umweltrechtlichen Vor-schriften, sondern auch internationaleStandards zu befolgen. Dabei ist der Code of Conduct nicht die einzige freiwil-lige Selbstverpflichtung, die wir uns auf-erlegt haben. Wir orientieren uns darüber hinaus seit Jahren an den Leitlinien der OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) für multina-tionale Unternehmen, den Grundsatzer-klärungen der ILO (International Labour Organization) und den UN Kinderrechts-Bestimmungen.

Mit ihrem „Ethikkodex” fordert die LEDER & SCHUH Gruppe ihre MitarbeiterInnen nicht nur zu einem respektvollen Umgang untereinander, sondern auch mit all ihren Anspruchsgruppen auf. Das Unterneh-men tritt jedem Einzelnen mit Achtung und Respekt entgegen und wahrt dessen Rechte, ungeachtet seiner Nationalität, Religion oder seines Geschlechts. Dis-kriminierung, Belästigung oder Mobbing werden nicht toleriert. Die Schaffung von sicheren und gesunden Arbeitsplätzenist uns ein großes Anliegen.

QualitätsmanagementPerfekte Produktqualität ist unser größtes Anliegen. Unsere Produkte werden nach strengsten Qualitätsrichtlinien geprüft, um gute Verarbeitung und hohen Trage-komfort zu garantieren. Außerdem sind alle Auflagen hinsichtlich verwendeter Materialien in eigens für unsere Lieferan-ten zugänglichen Informationsseiten im Internet ersichtlich. Deren Aktualisierung erfolgt ständig entsprechend den neu-esten Erkenntnissen in der Materialfor-schung. Die Einhaltung der vertraglichen Verpflichtungen wird in regelmäßigen Abständen im Zuge von Lieferanten-Au-dits überprüft. Unser Ziel ist es, über die gesetzlichen Vorgaben hinaus den hohen Ansprüchen unserer Kunden gerecht zu werden.

Certified Free From Harmful SubstancesAs a member of the expert body CADS (Cooperation at DSI), which is comprised of Europe’s largest shoe manufacturers and retailers, we continuously develop new standards in shoe production. This should assure the use of the latest, and most importantly, non-toxic materials. The LEDER & SCHUH Group, on the basis of CADS, has developed its own inspec-tion system as part of its quality manage-ment. Suppliers‘ production processes are also included, thereby ensuring all of the products carried by the LEDER & SCHUH Group are of high quality and do not con-tain harmful substances. Deliveries must be accompanied by certificates attesting that they are free from harmful substan-ces, issued by approved, internationally certified testing institutes. Our suppliers are obligated to use non-toxic materials and to comply with safety limit values for potentially harmful substances.

SustainabilityFor the LEDER & SCHUH Group all as-pects of sustainability are a more and more prevailing company principle. We are committed to protecting the environ-ment. We therefore also expect from our suppliers active support and participation in the introduction and further develop-ment of new processes which conserve resources, facilitate recycling, minimise pollution and perpetuate the natural en-vironment. Our shoes are not only tested to make sure they are free from harmful substances; the use of eco-friendly mate-rials is of utmost importance in the deve-lopment of new collections. The LEDER & SCHUH Group works with its partners on shoe projects taking into consideration environmental sustain-ability regarding the following topics:

Zertifizierte SchadstofffreiheitAls Mitglied des internationalen Experten-gremiums CADS (Cooperation at DSI), das aus den größten europäischen Schuh-produzenten und –händlern besteht, er-arbeiten wir laufend neue Standards in der Schuhproduktion, die die Verwen-dung neuester und vor allem schadstoff-freier Materialien sicherstellen sollen. Die LEDER & SCHUH Gruppe hat auf Basis von CADS ein eigenes Prüfsystem als Teil des Qualitätsmanagements entwickelt. Dabei werden auch Produktionsabläufe bei den Lieferanten einbezogen und die Quali-tät und Schadstofffreiheit der von der LEDER & SCHUH Gruppe geführten Pro-dukte sichergestellt. Den Lieferungen müssen Zertifikate über deren Schad-stofffreiheit von anerkannten, internatio-nal zertifizierten Prüfinstituten beiliegen. So werden unsere Lieferanten zu schad-stofffreien Materialien und zur Einhaltung von Grenzwerten bei potentiellen Risiko-stoffen verpflichtet.

NachhaltigkeitFür die LEDER & SCHUH Gruppe wird Nachhaltigkeit in all ihren Ausprägungen mehr und mehr zum gelebten Unterneh-mensprinzip. So verpflichten wir uns dem Schutz der Umwelt in Übereinstimmung mit allen anzuwendenden Umweltgeset-zen und Übereinkünften. Wir erwarten daher auch von unseren Lieferanten ak-tive Unterstützung und Teilnahme an der Einführung und Weiterentwicklung neuer Verfahren, die Ressourcen schonen, Recy-cling erleichtern, Umweltverschmutzung mindern und die natürliche Umwelt be-wahren. Unsere Schuhe werden nicht nur auf Schadstofffreiheit geprüft, der Ein-satz umweltfreundlicher Materialien steht bei der Entwicklung neuer Kollektionen im Vordergrund. Die LEDER & SCHUH Gruppe arbeitet mit ihren Partnern an Schuhprojekten unter Berücksichtigung ökologischer Nachhaltigkeit zu folgenden Themen:
