AIRCRAFT

PRODUCT OF PROJECTA number of problems in the aerospace, cryogenic and gas turbine technology requires a large degree of compression of the gas at moderate total pressure loss.

As an alternative to traditional solutions, such as using multiple axial or centrifugal stage, it is proposed to use a completely new device - a shock wave compressor, which compresses the air in the optimum system running shock waves

Ways to achieve high compression

Associated problems

Increase the rotor rotation speed Reduction in efficiency due to the formation of supersonic flows

Increase the number of stagesGrowth in size, weighting the installation. In some industries the problem of reducing the size is particularly relevant

Traditional ways to improve the efficiency of the compressors is almost completely exhausted.

TECHNOLOGYThe best way to compress the gas is the compression in the shock wave.

The proposed scheme of wave compressor is a rotor with a network of specially

profiled channels. Spinup to the rotor frequency, providing a peripheral speed

greater than the speed of sound, creates a system of shocks, which compresses gas.

Advantages:•High compression ratio•Considerably smaller dimensions•High pressure recovery coefficient•Simplicity of design

The obtained parameters are superior to any of the existing multi-stage systems

MARKETSThere are no workable analogues in the world at this moment

Industry applications :•Combined Aircraft Engines•Auxiliary power units for aircrafts•Engines for small unmanned aerial vehicles•Gas turbine engines•Turbo-refrigerating units•Turboexpanders•Compressors for gas compressing and storage systems•Turbopump assembly•Ground-based gas turbine power plants

Competing development :The U.S. firm «Ramgen» is developing in this direction. They have not been able to create a working sample as they used the Osvatich solution in their calculations, which is not satisfied in the case of traveling shock waves.

By 2026, the market for aircraft engines for different purposes will be about $ 450 billion, and given the industrial gas turbines, the market size will be about $ 850 billion.

The largest markets are the engines of aircrafts and auxiliary power units to them, as well as gas turbine power plants. Further efficiency improvements in these areas is not possible without the use of a new type compressors.

The first prototype is scheduled to release by mid-2014.

The need for funding Result Terms of achievement

3.5 million rubles Release of an experimental prototype Q4. 2013

10 million rubles Creating a workable model End of 2014

Problem:The creation of a wave compressor requires the provision of high rotation speeds. Another innovative project of our team solves this problem by creating a new type of non-contact bearings.

NEEDS AND RESULTS

The outcome of the project will be the creation of a compressor with a high compression ratio and high efficiency, which has no analogues in the world. The simplicity of design, the small number of elements and the use of non-contact transmission provide an almost endless resource of the system.
