Management & Leadership

Further Education and Training Certificate: Leadership

Development (NQF 4)

Learners will develop competencies to utilise leadership skills to enhance service

delivery in a specific sector or context. Individual learners will benefit through

enhancing their personal competencies, knowledge and skills so as to be able to

complete tasks required in their employment contracts and by legislation.

The programme is targeted at learners who wish to gain the competence to fulfil

the requirements of their current job obligations; who wish to extend their

knowledge and understanding of leadership roles and responsibilities within their

respective environments and who wish to take on a leadership role in the private

sector or local government.

National Certificate: Management (NQF 3)

The National Certificate: Management provides a framework for learners to

develop competencies that will enable them to become competent junior

managers, supervisors and team leaders. It introduces theoretical concepts,

requires the application of a limited base of knowledge and trains a well-

developed range of skills that will enable learners to be informed workers in their

chosen industry with skills and knowledge allowing them to adapt to changes in

work procedures and processes in business and industry.

This programme is targeted at learners who are currently in or to be trained to

eventually fulfil junior management positions in an organization. Junior

management includes, but is not limited to team leaders, supervisors, first line

managers, section heads and first level of management in an organisation at

which an employee has other employees reporting to him/her.

Supply Chain and Logistics

National Certificate: Supply Chain Management (NQF 5)

The Supply Chain Management qualification provides learners with the

competencies required to engage in the processes and inter-relationships across

the supply chain so as to create sustainable value for organisations. This

qualification is aimed at overcoming the traditional functional approach to

operations and management, and at fostering supply chain integration to the

advantage of all stakeholders. Learners will acquire a strong understanding of the

supply chain environment and the effects of performance and risk within that

same environment. They will also be able to contribute significantly to the

development of, and effectively execute, the supply chain strategy within the

organisation that they work.

This programme is targeted at learners who are currently working in, or are to be

trained to eventually fulfil, middle to senior management positions in a supply

chain environment, where he/she functions or will be required to function at both

a strategic and operational level.

National Certificate: Management – Stores and Warehousing

(NQF 3)

The National Certificate: Management – Stores and Warehousing provides a

framework for learners to develop competencies that will enable them to

become competent junior managers, supervisors and team leaders. It introduces

the same theoretical concepts, skills and application as the National Certificate:

Management with four specialisation areas encompassing the use of stores and

warehousing in operations; the role of materials handling in the warehouse; the

role of stocktaking in ensuring inventory accuracy; and a deeper understanding

of the functions of the purchasing cycle.

This programme is targeted at learners who are currently in or to be trained to

eventually fulfil junior management positions in an organization, specifically in the

stores, warehousing and logistics departments. Junior management includes, but

is not limited to team leaders, supervisors, first line managers, section heads and

first level of management in an organisation at which an employee has other

employees reporting to him/her.

and technology processes. Learners will acquire a range of skills in the

Processes (NQF 2)

This Qualification is for any individual who is, or wishes to be, involved in a metal

and engineering manufacturing processes environment. The purpose of the

qualification is to provide learners, with the standards and the range of learning

required to achieve competence in the operation and monitoring of machines in

the metal and engineering manufacturing processes industry. This qualification

recognises the skills, knowledge and values acquired by learners involved in

This qualification is the fourth in a series for practitioners in the field of

environmental science, environmental management and waste management.

understanding of the concept of the environment and the basic principles which

General Education & Training Certificate: Food & Beverage

Handling Practices (NQF 1)

This qualification contributes to increasing levels of personal and product safety

and develops a common integrated and co-ordinated approach to the handling

of food and related products. A person acquiring this qualification will be able to

have an understanding of personal and product safety, life skills that will allow

them to be responsible citizens – which in turn, will provide benefits to the society

and economy of South Africa – and knowledge and skills in the handling of food

Sling Loads

This programme enables individuals to effectively sling loads safely before

allowing load-moving equipment to remove / move the load. On completion of

the programme, learners understand the importance of applying safe slinging

techniques and how this is achieved. A basic knowledge is included of weight
