La Llarona The Weeping woman
A popular legend.
The background song La Llorona is a famous Panamanian Mexican characteristic of Isthmus of Tehuantepec (Oaxaca) known particularly for its verse “Cover me with your shawl
Llorona because I'm dying of cold ”. The song has no specific author, but many singers have created
or copied lines that make it a story of love and pain very representative of the Mexican Revolutionary period, although
it is believed its origins come from pre-Hispanic times. Along with the Adelita and La Cucaracha,
La Llorona became a popular song widely used, but unlike the others, there are many versions that say different things.
