Governmental forums

LACNIC is very active in the mayor governmental forums in the region.

LACNIC has been very involved in eLAC-2007, the action plan for developing Information Society in LAC region.

We have performed activities that contribute with the achievement of 25 of the 70 eLAC-2007 goals.

LACNIC participated in equal footing with governments in the development and negotiations about eLAC-2010, the new action plan making contributions in different areas like infrastructure, interconnection costs, IXPs and IPv6.

LACNIC and eLAC-2010

Particularly, goal 15 referring to IPv6:

“ Carry out actions geared towards promoting the adoption of the IPv6 protocol at the public and private levels with a view to making all public services offered via the IP protocol, as appropriate, available on IPv6 and ensuring that the main State infrastructure and applications are IPv6-compatible. Actions to be implemented will, to the extent possible, include the early implementation of requirements to ensure that government procure equipment and applications that are IPv6-compatible.”

Similar resolution was adopted by CITEL – OAS where LACNIC and ARIN are members
