TIMES SQUARE
Also known as Midtown Manhattan, Times Square sits along
Broadway between 42nd and 47th Streets. It’s the gateway to
the Theatre District and the part of New York City that every
one wants to see. It’s fun. It’s exciting. It’s crowded. Cafes,
restaurants, movie theatres, one-of-a-kind shops, and great
stores like Hershey's Chocolate and Disney line its streets.
Times Square—it’s “the” place to be!
TOP OF THE ROCK
*Admission Included*
Open 365 days a year, Rockefeller Center's newly renovated
Top of the Rock™ will win you over with its Art Deco look,
Swarovsky Crystal sculpture and chandelier. Begin with fun,
interactive exhibits on the mezzanine level, then ascend to the
open-air Observation Deck. 70 stories above Manhattan can
be very peaceful, especially when you view 360 degrees
through crystal-clear, transparent safety glass panels. See the
Statue of Liberty, New Jersey, the Bronx and Brooklyn and
wonderful Central Park. Timed entry serves as crowd control,
and the shop sells neat souvenirs of your visit.
Wednesday, November 21 CENTRAL PARK/XMAS SPECTACULAR
CENTRAL PARK FREE TIME
Planned in the 1850's by design competition winners Frederick
Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, this 843-acre naturalistic
urban park features a zoo, a theater, sports facilities, lakes
and entertainment. Among its many memorials is Strawberry
Fields, the pastoral tribute to the late musician, John Lennon,
who lived only steps away at the Dakota Apartment Building.
**OPTIONAL AT OWN EXPENSE**
*MET MUSEUM OF ART
Established since 1870, this iconic museum houses more than
two million works of art from all over the world, ancient
through modern times.
*CENTRAL PARK ZOO
The zoo has always held a special spot in the hearts of New
Yorkers who have come to adopt the animals as prized
members of the metropolitan community. The early
menagerie was home to “Murphy” the hippo and “Mike
Crowley,” the first chimpanzee ever shown in the United
States. In fact, when Mr. Crowley took ill, get well cards
poured in from fans all over the city.
*MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the most
famous attractions in New York City, and its architecture alone
makes the museum stand out. Spread out over several city
blocks, it's big enough to contain one of the world's most
important dinosaur collections. Add a 94-foot blue whale, a
recreation of an African rain forest and the Hall of Mammals,
and you've only scratched the surface of the millions of
artifacts and specimens at the world's largest and most
important museum of natural history.
FIFTH AVENUE
Enjoy a stroll down this magnificent avenue! Begin at the
southeast corner of Central Park and make your way past the
famous Plaza Hotel, Apple, Tiffany’s, Trump Tower, and Sak’s
Fifth Avenue.
ROCKEFELLER CENTER
A “City Within a City!” - Over twelve skyscrapers connected by
miles of underground passages, make up Rockefeller Center,
home to the G.E. Building, Radio City Music Hall, NBC Studios
and the famous ice rink.
RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL
The Hall opened on December 27, 1932, with a lavish variety
show and continued to feature films and stage productions
until 1979. At this point plans were made to convert the
theater into office space, but a combination of preservation
and commercial interests resulted in the protection of Radio
City Music Hall and in 1980, after a renovation, it reopened to
the public. The interiors of Radio City Music Hall were
designated a New York City Interior Landmark on March 28,
1978, and its exterior was designated a New York City
Landmark as part of Rockefeller Center on April 23, 1985.

9/11 MEMORIAL & MUSEUM
Occupying 8 of 16 acres at New York’s World Trade Center,
the street-level Memorial honors the lives of those lost in the
September 11, 2001 attacks. With the names of all who
perished inscribed in bronze on its twin memorial pools, and
the inspiring Survivor Tree still growing, the Memorial fulfills
its mission of remembrance.
MUSEUM RESERVATION
*Admission Included*
Located on New York’s World Trade Center site, The National
September 11 Memorial Museum explores the implications and
continuing significance of the events of 9/11. From the
glassed-in Entry Pavilion, the Twin Tower tridents point the
visitor down to the original foundation level and three main
exhibitions: Historical, Memorial and Foundation Hall.
Personal effects, photographs, first responder vehicles, and
more than 1,970 oral histories are some of the things that
teach about the World Trade Center attacks of September 11,
2001 and February 26, 1993, which together took nearly
3,000 lives.
SELF-WALKING TOUR
After your museum visit, enjoy some or all of the following
lower-Manhattan sites with your chaperone group. Applicable
entrance fees are at your expense.
*TRINITY CHURCH
The historic Trinity Church on Wall Street in New York City
features neo-Gothic flying buttresses, beautiful stained-glass
windows, and vaulted ceilings. It withstood 9/11 with little
damage and has played an important role in remembrance of
the event. During the Revolutionary War, the church's clergy
were Loyalists, while the parishioners included members of the
first and second Continental Congresses.
*WALL STREET
Wall Street is not only a street name: it is the personification
of the entire US financial system. The street is in Lower
Manhattan in the Financial District. Wall Street is home to The
New York Stock Exchange. The Federal Reserve Bank is
located next to Wall Street, and the head offices of the world’s
largest banks and other financial institutions are here.
Wall Street became the site of the inauguration of the first US
President, George Washington, in 1789. The Bill of Rights was
also adopted here.
*BROOKLYN BRIDGE
The Brooklyn Bridge was one of the great engineering marvels
of the 19th Century. Completed in 1883, it connects the New
York City boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn over the East
River. The very first steel-wire suspension bridge (with a main
span of 1,595.5 feet (486.3 m)), it was the longest suspension
bridge in the world until 1903. At a cost of $15.5 million and
at least 27 lives, it's no wonder that it has remained a
captivating attraction for locals and tourists alike.
*CHINATOWN/LITTLE ITALY
For more than a century, Chinatown has shared a border with
Little Italy but the border keeps expanding in China’s favor!
Enjoy the hustle and bustle and strange dialect of this colorful
area. For unique souvenirs, check out the shops on Mott,
Bayard and Mulberry Streets.
*THE HIGH LINE
The High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line
elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It runs
from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West
34th Street, between 10th and 12th Avenues.
*SOHO
Spend some time exploring one of the best shopping areas in
New York City. This former artist community of the 70’s has
been transformed into an exciting, trendy neighborhood. Its
loft apartments now sell in the millions!
