• Apuleyo. (Madaura, actual Argelia, h. 125 - Cartago, hoy desaparecida,actual Túnez, h. 180)• Se formó en retórica en Cartago y acudió a Atenas para iniciarse en la

filosofía platónica. También estudia jurisprudencia en Roma.• la Apología de Apuleyo o Sobre la magia. Apuleyo fue acusado de

brujería y procesado en Roma el año 158 .

• La Metamorfosis o El Asno de Oro divertida obra escrita en prosacomo una sátira de la sociedad de su tiempo.• Se basó en Lucius o el asno, obra escrita a finales del siglo I a.C. por

Lucio de Patrás y que narra distintos sucesos de conversión dehombres en animales, y también en las numerosas situacioneshumorísticas que formaban parte de las narraciones del griego

Arístides y de algunos sofistas.• Se desarrolla en la Tessalia, tierra de las artes mágicas tal como ñeldescribe.

• Protagonista, Lucio, que acaba convertido en asno al que le sucedenmuchas aventuras.

• Una narración principal de la que parten otras historias.

• La magia y las brujas están presentes en toda la obra.
