PRAYERS
DEAR HEART OF Jesus In the past I have asked for many favors, this time I ask you for this very special one. Take it Dear Jesus and place it within your bro-ken heart where your father will see it. Then in your merciful eyes, it will become your favor, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for 3 days, promise to publish it and your favor will be granted. G.M.
PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail)Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven. Blessed Mother of the Son of God. Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth! I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to answer me in this necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Mary con-ceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal, you who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life you are with me. I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated from you in eternal glory. Thank you for your mercy towards me and mine. The person must say this prayer 3 consecutive days, after 3 days the request will be granted. This prayer must be published after the favor is granted. Thank you for favor received. W. J. B.

One day an infant will trans-form from a relatively seden-tary little person content to stare at the crib to an active adventurer satisfying his or her curiosity with just about ev-erything in the home. Making sure the home is safe for baby’s travels becomes essential.
While every child develops at his or her own pace, most par-ents can expect the day will soon come when their son or daughter will be exploring the home. While that notion can be exciting, it can also be a bit scary. That’s because studies indicate more than 2,000 chil-
Top 5 Baby Concerns in the Homedren die every year due to home-related injuries. Many of these children are under the age of 1.
Taking safety precautions around the house fi rst requires knowledge of the top dangers. Here is a list of known safety hazards around the home.
1. Choking hazards: Infants and toddlers are often enamored with their older sibling’s toys. These toys may have small parts or magnets, and can be chok-ing hazards for little ones. Be sure that small toys are not left strewn around.
Choking can also occur when
babies try to eat foods that are too sophisticated for unde-veloped teeth. Pieces of food should be no larger than a dime to help prevent against chok-ing. Children under 10 months old should only be given pureed food, or soft foods until molars for chewing and mashing de-velop.
2. Stairs: Falls account for many childhood injuries. Falls down stairs can be especially danger-ous. Be sure to block stairs with sturdy gates from investigative children. There are gates that are designed for the top and bottom
of stairs to make it easier to open and navigate for adults.
3. Water: It takes only a few inches of water to drown a young child. Never leave a baby unat-tended when water is around.
Secure toilet seats and be sure to keep within arm’s reach of the child when he or she is bathing.
4. Tipped-over furniture: There were 31 deaths in 2006 (and 3,000 injuries) resulting from
furniture and other household items, like TVs, tipping over and crushing children. Don’t place tempting items atop furniture. If furniture seems unsteady, al-ways use anchors to bolt it to the wall.

Just Like HGTV(MS) -- No other fl ooring option delivers the warmth, splendour and value of natural wood. To-day there are countless colours available to choose from as well as different species, each with their unique characteristics. One species that has been growing in popularity in recent years for its rustic charm and ultra -- durabil-ity is hickory.
A true North American classic, hickory is a slow growing species resulting in some of the hardest, most durable fl ooring found any-where. Hickory has been used for centuries by discerning homeown-ers looking for beauty, strength and a lasting impression.
According to designer Nancy Soccio of Dolce Design in Mon-treal, more and more consumers are looking for a rustic look from their fl ooring choices and have found durability, unique grain-ing patterns and a wide range of colours with hickory wood fl oors.
“This species features an opu-lent appearance thanks to its pronounced contrasting shades and range of natural tones,” she explained. “Hickory’s rough, tex-tured look harmonizes beautifully with rustic and modern decor alike. Its hardness and durability make it an excellent option for kitchens and high traffi c areas.”
The wood typically comes in many shades ranging from gold-

en beige to full-bodied brown. In fact, one of North America’s leading manufacturers, Mercier Wood Flooring, has launched a new series of hickory colours for this year.
Offered in its “Nature Collection”, the new colours are named after nature wonders such as “Fundy”,
“Hampton”, “Jasper”, “Terra Nova”, and “Tremblant”, these darker two tone stain colours fol-low the trend towards pronounced colour variations in fl ooring that is now in vogue.
“Mercier’s hickory line features absolutely stunning fl oors,” Soc-cio added. “It’s produced using
methods that accentuate the in-trinsic qualities of the wood, so that bold or subtle characters in the grain are revealed to create boards with rich and distinctly in-dividual patterns. This line of rus-tic fl oors gives you the feeling of being at your favourite ski lodge or chalet.”

(MS) -- According to experts in the hardwood fl ooring industry, the hot trends for this year will be wider board fl oor designs and easier to in-stall options that you simply
Decor trends for 2012 Do-it-yourselfers “LOC-in” latest trend in hardwood fl oors“LOC” into place.
The recent innovation in the
fl ooring industry that contin-
ues to gain momentum with
designers, builders and do it
yourselfers alike is the Mer-cier Wood Flooring “LOC” product category. It’s an en-gineered fl oor that does not require glue or mechanical fasteners to install using a locking system optimized for low cost of production and superior installation charac-teristics.
“This product addition pres-ents customers with a user-friendly installation product for multi-story developments, basements, and is an ideal choice for the do-it-yourself market,” explained Michel Collin, Marketing Director of Mercier Wood Flooring, one of North America’s leading hardwood fl ooring manufac-turers.
This innovative engineered wood fl ooring with a 2G LOC features a 2mm sawn veneer of hardwood in either red oak or hard maple bonded to an HDF core. Solid wood will expand or contract with heat and moisture, whereas engineered wood flooring,
because it’s made of cross banded layers of wood, offers more dimensional stability, Collin explained.
In fact, for the past several years Mercier has offered its customers the widest variety of choices in the country al-lowing them to design their fl oor the way they want, thanks to their exclusive De-sign+ program. This year to answer the consumer demand for wider board designs, Mer-cier’s has added a 5” option to its LOC category in classic Red Oak and Hard Maple.
According to designer Nancy Soccio of Dolce Design in Montreal, consumers will appreciate these classic hard-woods made available in the popular wider options. “Red oak is a classic choice. It’s a hardy, noble wood that adds soothing warmth to your home with its pink highlights. While hard maple is more pale and uniform,” she added. “It’s dense, fi nely grained look combines harmony and
wellbeing to any decor.”
There are also established trends in wood fl ooring fash-ion that will continue to forge ahead, according to Collin, and these are the movements towards pronounced colour variations and rare exotic species. “Our exclusive line of exotic species from South America, for example, is sought after by discerning ho-meowners for its stylish rich natural shades blended with
the inherent hardness and du-rability of exotic woods.”
For the dark wood fl oor en-thusiasts, Collin said Mercier has developed beautiful new rich stains for its Heritage product line: Graphite and Macchiato for solid, engi-neered and LOC versions in varying widths. Valentine’s Day is often a time for adult couples to show their affection. But Valentine’s Day is a fun time for kids, too. Kids often enjoy handing out and receiving Valentine’s Day cards, and parents often enjoy seeing their kids’ crushes.
Another Valentine’s Day tra-dition kids enjoy is the annual Valentine’s Day party. Parents hosting the party this year can make the most of their holi-day party with the following tips.
* Let kids make the invita-tions. Kids will get a kick out of making Valentine’s Day in-vitations for all their friends. Tools of the trade include construction paper, glitter, stickers, and any other ac-cessories kids might feel are necessary. Parents who want to go the extra mile can take their kids around the neigh-borhood to hand deliver the invitations to their friends.
* Go big with balloons. No kids party is complete without balloons, and a Val-entine’s Day party should include pink, red and white balloons. If time permits, cre-ate an archway of balloons at the front door or tie balloons to the mailbox so other par-ents know where to drop the kids off.
* Don’t forget the candy and cupcakes. Kids might have ulterior motives for enjoy-ing Valentine’s Day that go beyond giving and receiving valentines. Candy and cup-cakes are as much a part of Valentine’s Day for kids as they are for adults. Chocolate and cupcakes are favorites for kids and adults alike on Valentine’s Day, so be sure to have some on hand for the party.
* Host a few Valentine’s themed games. Instead of standard fare like “Pin the Tail On the Donkey,” spice things up for Valentine’s Day with a few games with a Val-entine’s Day theme. If the
Host A Fun Valentine’s Day Party For Kids
weather permits, host a Val-entine’s scavenger hunt in the backyard. Include prizes like Valentine’s stickers and, of course, chocolate.
If the weather is too cold for a scavenger hunt, plan other activities that can be done in-doors. This can include some dancing to kids’ favorite mu-sic or even letting kids deco-rate the house themselves with Valentine’s themed decorations they made at the party.
* Accessorize. For the par-ty, purchase heart-shaped plates and red, pink or white utensils for the kids to eat with. For dessert, serve up a heart-shaped chocolate cake. TF112473
On average, $400 mil-lion in domestically pro-duced cut fl owers and $24 million in domesti-cally produced cut roses are sold every year for Valentine’s Day. There are roughly 20,000 fl o-rists in the United States, many of which are very busy delivering and sell-ing fl owers for Valen-tine’s Day. However, Valentine’s Day isn’t the busiest time for fl orists. In fact, a greater percent-age of fresh fl owers and plants are sold during the December holiday sea-son and on Mother’s Day (30% and 24%, respec-tively). TF112446

Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth! M. C. M

A career in agriculture can prove richly rewarding. While it’s common to envision overalls and tractors when imagining careers in agriculture, the opportunities to work in the agricul-ture industry stretch beyond the farm and into the corporate world. The following are a few of the paths men and women with a passion for agriculture can pursue.
* Business: Agriculture is big business, and the industry has many opportunities for those who want to pursue a career in business. Farmers and producers of agricultural products need someone to draft contracts for their agreements with the large corporations who dis-tribute those products. In addition, purchasing agents and agricultural fi nanciers are just two of the many career opportunities that enable men and women to work on the business side of agriculture.
* Social service: The agricultural industry also has positions of social service. In addition to food inspector, who ensures agricultural products are safe for human consumption, so-cial service positions within the agricultural industry include environmental consultant and conservation offi cer. Men and women can also work to develop programs that encourage youngsters to pursue careers in the agricultural industry.
* Production: Of course, the agricultural industry has a host of careers for those who want to get their hands dirty. Farms need to be plowed, seeds must be planted and fertilized and farms need to be well-maintained to continue operating effi ciently and effectively. Though technology has taken the place of many agricultural production positions, there are still many opportunities out there for those who want to work under the sun.
* Education: Those who want to share their love of agriculture with others can put their skills to work in the classroom. Agricultural instructors can train the next generation of ag-riculture professionals at the university or high school level, ensuring today’s farms are left in good hands tomorrow.
Agricultural career opportunities abound

(MS) -- Cold weather can play havoc with a vehicle’s battery, threatening starting and the ability to handle winter’s increased elec-trical loads.
“A conventional 12-volt bat-tery maintains about 40 percent of its capacity at 0 degrees F, so it’s very important to make sure the vehicle’s battery is up to the task when the weather turns re-ally cold. Most engines won’t start when cranking voltage drops too far below 12 volts, and a battery loses some of its available voltage and cold cranking amps (CCA) as it ages. So it’s a good idea to take precautions as the chill envelopes us,” said Andreas Tobler, Product Manager, Energy Systems for Bo-sch (www.boschautoparts.com).
Tobler suggested these precautions to avoid cold weather battery prob-lems:
* Check all battery and starter con-nections. Make sure they are tight and cables are top quality and in good condition.
* Make sure the alternator is op-erating at full capacity to keep the engine running and operate lights, windshield wipers and heater fan while keeping the battery charged. Replace it if questionable.
* Have the battery tested to make sure it has suffi cient capacity and is new enough to handle frigid temperature starting, heavy elec-trical demand. Install a fresh bat-tery if needed.
* If the battery charge is low, have it charged or use a modern porta-ble battery charger to keep it in top form. An occasional charge can keep the battery ready, as well as revitalize an exhausted battery.
Batteries to tame the elements
Bosch, a global premium battery leader, provides a comprehensive automotive battery program for domestic, Asian and European passenger cars, light trucks and SUVs, with 97 percent coverage of vehicles on the road in the conti-nental United States. This program offers quality batteries that provide a combination of cold-cranking amps (CCA), battery reserve ca-pacity and long life, and includes the S3 value performance battery, the S4 quality performance battery, the S5 premium performance bat-tery, and the S6 high performance AGM battery for the coldest and most demanding conditions.
The Bosch high performance S6 AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) bat-
Keep Your Car’s Battery Ready
tery, for instance, is meant to conquer the coldest winter, and features:
* 30 percent more deep cycle abil-ity and vibration resistance than conventional batteries
* Latest technology for start/stop applications
* Sealed and 100 percent leak-proof in any position, also for pas-senger compartment use
* 100 percent maintenance free under normal operating conditions
* 3-year free replacement/pro rata warranty
* Free roadside assistance
“Cold cranking amps (CCA) is the amount of current a battery can provide at 0*F (18*C). The rating is defi ned as the current a lead-acid battery at that tempera-ture can deliver for 30 seconds and maintain at least 1.2 volts per cell (7.2 volts for a 12-volt battery). In other words, CCA/cold cranking amps determine how much power is available to start the car on cold winter mornings,” Tobler said.
“Beat the frigid weather by mak-ing sure your vehicle’s battery is ready for it,” he said. TF112463
