Latvijas Universitāte jubilejas gadā iekļūst starp 5% pasaulē labāko universitāšu

LU 2014.  gadā atzīmēja savu 95 gadu jubileju, augstākajā līmenī apliecinot savu nacionālo nozīmību un starptautisko konkurētspēju. LU pērn tika iekļauta divos no prestižākajiem pasaules augstskolu reitingiem, ierindojoties starp 5% pasaules labāko universitāšu. Webometrics reitingā LU ieņēma godpilno 929.  vietu, būtiski pakāpjoties no iepriekšējā gada 1327. vietas. Ņemot vērā, ka reitings uzskaita 22 000 atzītu augst-skolu pasaulē, tas ir ļoti augsts rezultāts, kas no Latvi-jas augstskolām izdevies tikai LU. Eiropas Savienības mērogā LU ieņēma augsto 329. vietu, tādējādi pietu-vojoties savam stratēģiskajam mērķim – sagaidot mūsu Alma Mater simtgadi, iekļūt Eiropas labāko universitāšu simtniekā. LU jau otro gadu pēc kārtas pērn iekļuva arī QS World University Rankings reitingā, ieņemot 701.–800. vietu. LU ir pirmā un pagaidām vienīgā Latvijas augstskola, kas iekļuvusi šāda līmeņa reitingā. LU jubilejas gadā zīmīgi tika aizsākts arī viens no lielākajiem izglītības infrastruktūras projektiem atjaunotās Latvijas vēsturē  – LU Akadēmiskā centra Torņakalnā celtniecība. 2014.  gada pavasarī svinīgi tika ielikts pirmās ēkas  – Dabaszinātņu akadēmiskā centra – pamatakmens, bet jau rudenī tika svinēti spāru svētki. Plānots, ka 2015.  gada augustā tiks pabeigta Dabaszinātņu akadēmiskā centra celtniecība, tas kļūs par ĢZZF, ĶF, BF, kā arī daļas no MF un FMF Optometrijas un redzes zinātnes nodaļas mājvietu

un jau šoruden uzņems pirmos studentus. Jaunā LU studentu pilsēta un Latvijas Nacionālā bibliotēka Torņakalnā tuvākajā nākotnē veidos mūsdienīgu un inovatīvu Latvijas izglītības un zinātnes vidi, kurai nav līdzīgas ne tikai Baltijas jūras reģionā, bet arī Eiropā. Pateicoties ASV uzņēmēja Džona Medvecka atbalstam un 50 ziedotājiem, kas atsaucās viņa aicinājumam, pērn tika izveidots LU Biznesa ideju fonds. Bet jau šī gada sākumā tika uzsākta unikāla studentu uzņēmējdarbības veicināšanas programma  – “Studenta uzņēmēja gēns”, kas sniegs dažādu LU fakultāšu studentiem iespēju, apgūstot uzņēmējdarbības akadēmiskos pamatus, attīstīt reālas biznesa idejas un pretendēt uz kopumā 72 000 eiro lielu � nansējumu uzņēmējdarbības uzsākšanai.Visas 13 LU fakultātes 2014. gadā nopietni pilnveidoja studiju programmas un integrēja pētniecību mācību procesā, LU zinātnieki guvuši starptautiski nozīmīgus panākumus, bet studenti pierādījuši savu konkurētspēju. LU cilvēki, labākie mācībspēki un profesionālākie darbinieki, ir iemesls, kāpēc pie mums studē spējīgākie pašmāju studenti un gadu no gada pārliecinoši pieaug ārvalstu studentu skaits. Panākumi kalpo par iedvesmu nākotnes uzvarām, tāpēc lai LU 100-gadi sagaidām ar pārliecību un misijas apziņu, ka Latvijas Universitāte ir garants valsts attīstībai!

University of Latvia in its Anniversary Year Enters the 5% of World’s Best Universities

2014 was the year of University’s 95th anniversary, which was celebrated by con� rming its national signi� cance and international competitiveness to the highest level. Last year UL was included in two of the most prestigious world university rankings, entering the 5% of the world’s best universities.UL took the honourable 929th place in Webometrics Ranking, moving up signi� cantly from the 1327th place taken in the previous year. Given that the rating accounts for 22,000 recognized universities of the world, it is a very good result, among the Latvian universities achieved only by UL. At the level of European Union, UL took the high 329th place, thus approaching its strategic goal – in anticipation of our Alma Mater centennial, to enter the top one hundred of Europe’s best universities.Last year was the second consecutive year when University of Latvia was also incorporated in the QS World University Rankings, taking the 701-800th position. UL is the � rst and so far the only Latvian university to enter a rating of this level.Signi� cantly, the anniversary year saw the launch of the infrastructure project which is one of the largest both in education sphere and the history of renewed Latvia – construction of UL Academic Centre in Torņakalns. In the spring of 2014, the foundation stone of the � rst building – Academic Centre of Natural Sciences – was laid solemnly, and already in autumn the roof rafters rose to the sky. It is planned that in August 2015, the Academic Centre of Natural Sciences will be completed and house FGES, FCH, FB, as well as parts of the FM and FPM’s Department of Optometry and Vision

Science, and welcome its � rst students in the autumn. � e new UL student city and the National Library of Latvia in Torņakalns in the near future will form a modern and innovative environment for Latvian education and science unique both in the Baltic Sea region and Europe.� e support of US entrepreneur John J. Medveckis and 50 donors who responded to his call, enabled creation of UL Business Ideas Fund last year, and this year a unique business student incentive program – “Student entrepreneurial spirit” was launched, which will provide students of di� erent UL faculties with an opportunity to master the academic basics of entrepreneurship, develop realistic business ideas and to be eligible for a total of 72,000 EUR in � nancing for business start-ups.During 2014 all 13 UL faculties seriously improved the study programs and integrated research into the learning process. UL scientists gained internationally recognised success, and the students, in turn, proved their competitiveness.UL people, the best teachers and the most professional sta� are the reason why we enroll the brightest students of Latvia, and the number of foreign students grow con� dently with each year. � e success serves as an inspiration for future victories, therefore may we welcome the 100th year of the UL with con� dence and a sense of mission that the Latvian University is the guarantee of the country’s development!

STUDENTS, STUDIES AND STUDY ENVIRONMENT

STUDENTI LATVIJAS UNIVERSITĀTĒ

LU ir tradīcijām bagātākā augstākās izglītības iestāde Latvijā. 2014. gada beigās LU mācījās 14 020 studenti. 2014. gadā budžeta dotētajās studiju vietās LU studēja 6837 studenti (pamatstudijās – 4181, augstākā līmeņa studijās – 2656).2014.  gadā LU tika uzņemti 4752 jaunie studenti  – pamatstudijās 3036, bet augstākā līmeņa studijās  – 1716. LU P. Stradiņa medicīnas koledžā 2014.  gadā studēja 951, bet LU Rīgas Medicīnas koledžā – 692 studenti. Rīgas Ekonomikas augstskolā un Rīgas Juridiskajā augstskolā, kuru līdzīpašniece ir LU, bija attiecīgi 497 un 495 studenti.

DOKTORANTŪRAS STUDIJAS

LU piedāvā plašas iespējas tiem, kas turpina studijas doktorantūrā. 2014. gada beigās LU studēja 804 dok-torantūras studenti, aizstāvēti 106 promocijas darbi, bet doktora zinātnisko grādu 2014.  gadā ieguva 102 doktoranti. Vislielākais aizstāvēto promocijas darbu skaits bija bioloģijā – 12, vadībzinātnē – 10 un � zikā – 7. 2014. gadā LU bija 18 doktorantūras skolas, kas nodrošina doktora studiju programmu starpdisciplinaritāti. LU doktorantūras studiju programmas izvēlas arī daudzi citu augstskolu absolventi.

STUDIJU PROGRAMMAS UN E-KURSI

LU 2014.  gadā bija iespēja studēt 132 studiju pro-grammās (divās 1. līmeņa profesionālajās, 52 pa mat-studiju, 54 augstākā līmeņa un 24 doktora studiju pro-grammās). Licencēta un uzsākusi darbu otrā līmeņa profesionālā augstākās izglītības studiju programma “Zobārstniecība”. Licencēta arī jauna LU P. Stradiņa medicīnas koledžas pirmā līmeņa profesionālā augstākās izglītības studiju programma “Ārstnieciskā masāža”. � e UL is the higher education establishment rich in traditions. At the end of 2014, 14,020 students studied at UL. � e study places subsidized from the state budget were occupied by 6837 students (4181 in the undergraduate studies, and 2656 in the graduate studies).In 2014, 4752 new students were enrolled in the University: 3036 – in the undergraduate studies, and 1716 – in the graduate studies. At the UL P. Stradins Medical College in 2014 there were 951 students, whereas at the UL Riga Medical College – 692 students. At Stockholm School of Eco-nomics and Riga Graduate School of Law partly owned by the UL there were 497 and 495 students, respectively.

DOCTORAL STUDIES

� e UL o� ers vast opportunities to those who continue their studies in doctoral programmes. At the end of 2014, 804 doctoral students studied at the UL, 106  promotion theses were defended, and the doctor’s degree in 2014 was received by 102 doctoral students. � e biggest number of promotion theses was presented in biology – 12, management science – 10 and physics – 7. In 2014, there were 18 doctoral schools at the UL ensuring the interdisciplinary character of the doctoral programmes. � e UL doctoral study programmes are chosen by many graduates of other higher education establishments.

STUDY PROGRAMMES ANDE-COURSES

In 2014 UL provided the opportunity to study in 132 study programmes (two 1st-level professional, 52 undergraduate programmes, 54 graduate and 24 doctoral study programmes).A second level professional higher education programme “Dentistry” has been accredited and launched. 2014 also saw the accreditation of a new � rst level professional higher education programme “� erapeutic Massage” at the UL P. Stradins Medical College.Master’s study programme “Social Work” has been re-organised and become a professional master’s study

profesionālo maģistra studiju programmu “Sociālais darbs”. Maģistra studiju programmā “Pedagoģija” izveidota jauna apakšprogramma “Mākslas pedagoģija”. Savukārt maģistra studiju programmā “Eiropas studijas” izveidotas trīs jaunas apakšprogrammas.Izglītības tematiskajā grupā LU īsteno 11 studiju programmas, humanitāro zinātņu un mākslas jomā  – 33, sociālo zinātņu, komerczinību un tiesību jomā  – 45, dabaszinātņu, matemātikas un informācijas tehnoloģiju jomā – 42, kā arī vienu studiju programmu inženierzinātnes, ražošanas un būvniecības jomā. 2014.  gadā LU no 5273 izveidotajiem e-kursiem ak-tīvi bija 4555 e-kursi, kas ir par 1161 vairāk nekā 2013. gadā. 2014. gadā LU tika piedāvātas 92 tālākiz-glītības un profesionālās pilnveides programmas, kas ir par 14 vairāk nekā 2013. gadā. Pavasara semestrī tās ap-guva 869 klausītāji, bet rudens semestrī 1497 klausītāji.

UNIVERSITĀTES ABSOLVENTI

LU 2014.  gadā absolvēja 3675 studenti, no tiem 62%  absolventu beidza pamatstudiju programmas. 73% absolventu bija sievietes.

STUDENTU SERVISS

LU Studentu servisā konsultatīvais un informatīvais atbalsts 2014. gadā nodrošināts integrēti akadēmiskos, karjeras un psiholoģijas jautājumos. Pārskata periodā nodrošinātas 100 individuālās karjeras konsultācijas un 242 konsultācijas psiholoģiskos un personīgos jautājumos, 30 konsultācijas e-vidē. 2014.  gadā aktu-ālākie jautājumi bija studentu atgriešanās studijās pēc studijām ārvalstīs, studiju pārtraukuma, identitātes jautājumi un nedrošība par profesionālās darbības uzsākšanu. Grupu semināru piedāvājumus izmantojuši 106 studenti un LU absolventi. Karjeras prasmju pilnveidošanai tiek nodrošināta “CV darbnīca”, kas pārskata periodā novadīta 60 studentiem. Lai izglītotu skolēnus par izglītības un karjeras izvēli, LU fakultāšu un Studentu servisa pārstāvji viesojās Ventspilī, Valmierā, Madonā, Kuldīgā, Gulbenē, kā arī uzņēma skolēnu grupas Universitātes telpās. Rīgā skolēniem bija

programme “Social Work”. Master’s study programme “Pedagogy” sub-programme “Pedagogy of Art” has been established. Master’s study programme “European Studies”, in turn, has three new sub-programmes. In the thematic group of education the UL provides 11 study programmes, in humanities and arts  – 33, in social sciences, commerce and law – 45, in natural sciences, mathematics and information technologies – 42, as well as one study programme in engineering, manufacturing and construction. In 2014 4555 of the 5273 developed e-courses were actively used, – by 1161 more than in 2013. � ere were 92 continuing education and professional development programmes o� ered at UL – up by 14 programmes in comparison with 2013. In the spring semester these programmes enrolled 869 individuals, and in the autumn semester – 1497 individuals.

GRADUATES

In 2014, 3675 students graduated from the UL, of whom 62% � nished the undergraduate study programmes. 73% of the graduates were female.

STUDENT SERVICES

� e UL Student Services in 2014 provided integrated consultations and information regarding academic, career and psychological matters. In the reporting period 100 individual career consultations and 242  consultations in psychological and personal matters were delivered, 30 consultations were provided via Internet. � e most topical issues in 2014 included resuming education after returning from the studies abroad or after a gap period, identity matters and insecurity regarding commencement of professional activity. Group seminars were attended by 106 students and UL graduates. For improvement of career skills the CV Workshop is provided and in the reporting period it has been attended by 60 students. To educate the pupils about the choice of education and career, the representatives of the UL faculties and the Student Services visited schools in Ventspils, Valmiera, Madona, Kuldīga, Gulbene, and received groups of pupils at the University. In Riga, pupils had an opportunity to participate in 18 classes, as well as to attend individual and group career consultations at the Career Centre.During 2014, Student Services in collaboration with ULSP implemented support activities for the 1st year students. � e cooperation with the social partners continues to expand, including companies that engage in activities during the study process. During 2014, experts delivered 31 guest lecture in various UL faculties. Employers also became involved in organizing seminars for students, informing about practice / employment opportunities, scholarship competitions, as well as students’ personal and professional skill improvement.

Darba devēji iesaistījās arī semināru rīkošanā studentiem, informējot par prakses/darba iespējām, stipendiju konkursiem, kā arī studentu personīgo un profesionālo prasmju pilnveidi. 2014. gadā mūsu studenti viesojās Statoil Fuel & Retail, AAS BTA, JYSK, “Spilva”, kā arī Prakse.lv organizētajās Atvērto durvju nedēļas ekskursijās.

STUDIJU VIDES UZLABOŠANA

LU 2014.  gadā palielināts studijām un pētniecībai nepieciešamais informācijas resursu klāsts un uzlabota studiju vide  – labiekārtotas bibliotēkas, mācību un darba telpas. LU Dabaszinātņu un matemātikas izglītības centra telpās FMF atklāta mobila, universāla un mūsdienīgi aprīkota mācību klase, vasarā FMF atklāts Energoefektivitātes centrs, bet 2014. gada beigās pabeigta LU Botāniskā dārza žoga rekonstrukcijas 1. kārta, un tagad 739 m garais jaunais žogs ietver dārzu gar Slokas, Kandavas ielu, Jūrmalas gatvi un Dzirciema ielu. Pateicoties uzvarai LU Fonda projektu konkursā, LU HZF ierīkotas trīs āra auditorijas.

STUDENTU DIENESTA VIESNĪCAS

LU studentiem, kas nedzīvo Rīgā, tiek piedāvāta iespēja studiju laikā dzīvot dienesta viesnīcās. Septiņas LU dienesta viesnīcas nodrošina 2598 gultas vietas. Regulāri notiek dienesta viesnīcu labiekārtošana. Kopsummā 2014.  gadā LU dienesta viesnīcās veikts remonts 62  712  EUR apmērā. Ar LU SP atbalstu 2014.  gadā 62  sociālās grūtībās nonākuši studenti saņēma 50% atlaidi dienesta viesnīcu īres maksai.

LU STUDENTU PADOME

LUSP pārstāv LU studentu intereses akadēmiskajā, sociālajā un kultūras jomā. 2014.  gadā visu fakultāšu studentu pārstāvniecības organizācijās darbojās vairāk nekā 300 vēlēti studenti, LUSP  – 31 fakultāšu vēlēts pārstāvis un četri biroja darbinieki.2014.  gadā, lai veicinātu studentu sadraudzību un saliedētību, LUSP ir organizējusi tādus pasākumus kā “LU Māja” Muzeju naktī, jauno studentu svētkus “Aristotelis”, LUSP sporta spēles un divas studentu talkas Botāniskajā dārzā. Akadēmiskajā jomā kopā ar Studentu servisu attīstījusi “Mentoru programmu” un piešķīrusi � nansējumu studentu zinātnisko un akadēmisko projektu realizēšanai gandrīz 2000 EUR apmērā.

In 2014 our students visited the Statoil Fuel & Retail, AAS BTA, JYSK, “Spilva” as well as participated in Open Door Week excursions organized by Prakse.lv.

IMPROVEMENT OF THE STUDYENVIRONMENT

In 2014 the UL increased the choice of information resources required for studies and research. � e study environment was further improved by equipping libraries, study and work facilities. � e mobile, modernly equipped multi-purpose classroom was opened at the UL Natural Science and Mathematics Education Centre, FPM, the summer saw the opening Energy E ciency Centre at FPM, but the 1st phase of the fence reconstruction at the UL Botanical Gardens was completed at the end of 2014, and now the new 739 m long fence encompasses the garden along Slokas iela and Kandavas iela, Jūrmalas gatve and Dzirciema iela. � e successful participation at the UL Foundation project competition provided support for constructing three outdoor classrooms at the UL FH.

ACCOMMODATION

� ose UL students, who do not permanently reside in Riga, can � nd accommodation in the student residence halls during their study years. Seven UL residence halls provide 2598 beds. � e residence halls are improved on a regular basis. EUR 62 712 were invested in renovation in 2014. With the support from ULSC, 62 students facing social problems received a 50% discount on their accommodation fee payments.

UL STUDENT COUNCIL

ULSC represents the students’ interests in academic, social and cultural matters. In 2014, the representative organisations of students at all UL faculties employed more than 300 elected students, ULSC–31 representative elected by the faculties and four o ce sta� members. To promote student fellowship and unity, during 2014 ULSC has organized activities like “UL House” at the Museum Night, the annual freshmen celebration “Aristotle” (“Aristotelis”), ULSC Games and two events of joined voluntary work at the Botanical Gardens. In the academic sphere, together with the Student Services, the Mentor Program has been developed and almost 2,000 EUR grants have been distributed to fund student research and academic project implementation.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE STUDENTS

� e competition “� e Best Young Translator” held by the translation agency Skrivanek Baltic was won by English language specialist Ieva Aleksandrova, the

Konkursā “Labākais jaunais tulkotājs”, kuru rīkoja uzņēmums Skrivanek Baltic, par uzvarētāju kļuva angļu valodas speciāliste Ieva Aleksandrova, LU studiju programmas “Rakstiskā tulkošana” 2. kursa studente. Žurnāla “Jurista Vārds” studentu pētniecisko darbu konkursā LU JF studenti pierādīja sevi kā studentu līderus pētniecībā tiesību jomā Latvijā. Latvijas Ekonomikas attīstības foruma konkursā par labākajiem studentu zinātniskajiem darbiem pirmās divas vietas ieguvušas LU EVF studentes, vēl trīs  – saņēmušas atzinību. Pasaules studentu komandu programmēšanas sacensību ACM ICPC atlases sacensībās pārliecinošu uzvaru Baltijas valstu konkurencē atkal ieguva LU DF studenti.

MECENĀTU STIPENDIJAS

Ik gadu LU studentiem ir iespēja iegūt LU Fonda mecenātu stipendijas. 2014. gadā LU Fonds piedāvāja 14 stipendiju programmas izciliem, sabiedriski aktīviem, centīgiem studentiem (arī ar nepietiekamu materiālo nodrošinājumu). Stipendijas saņēma 362  LU un citu Latvijas augstskolu studenti, un to kopējā summa bija 443 160,61 EUR. 2014. gadā nodibinātas astoņas jau-nas stipendijas. 2014. gadā LU paspārnē sācis darboties Biznesa ideju fonds. Tas ir Baltijā pirmais biznesa gran-tu fonds studentiem, kura ieceres autors un mecenāts ir ASV uzņēmējs Džons Medveckis. Biznesa ideju fondu pašlaik veido vairāk nekā 188 000 EUR, ko saziedojuši 70 privātpersonas un uzņēmumi. 2014. gadā LU Fonds realizējis 39 mācību vides un rekonstrukcijas projektus, kurus ir atbalstījuši un kuros iesaistījušies 45 uzņēmumi un privātpersonas. 2014.  gada rudenī Latvijas Uni-versitātes Fonds noslēdza ziedojumu kampaņu, ku-ras mērķis bija savākt līdzekļus LU Lielās aulas ērģeļu atjaunošanai. Šim mērķim ziedojumos LU  Fonds ir saņēmis vairāk nekā 41 000 EUR.

In the competition of scienti� c works organised by the Latvian Economic Development Forum the � rst two places were taken by students of UL FEM, and three more students received recognition. Participation in the international student team programming contest ACM ICPC once more brought victory to UL FC students who competed with other teams of the Baltic States.

PATRON SCHOLARSHIPS

Every year the students can compete for the schol-arships o� ered by UL Foundation patrons, and in 2014 14 scholarships programmes were o� ered to out-standing, publicly active and industrious students (in-cluding those with insu cient � nancial means). � e scholarships in the total amount of 443,160.61 EUR were received by 362 students from the UL and other higher education establishments of Latvia. In 2014 eight new scholarships were established, and under the auspices of UL Business Ideas Fund started its opera-tion. It is the � rst business grant fund for students es-tablished in Baltics, and the author of its idea and the patron is American Latvian entrepreneur John J. Med-veckis. Business Ideas Fund currently consists of more than 188,000  EUR, donated by 70 individuals and companies. In 2014 UL Foundation has implemented 39 study environment and reconstruction projects, in-volving and supported by 45 companies and individu-als. In the autumn of 2014, the University of Latvia Foundation concluded a donation campaign aimed at raising funds for the UL Great Hall organ restoration. For this purpose, the UL Foundation has received more than 41,000 EUR in donations.

UL SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS

� e scienti� c research in UL structural units in 2014 was implemented both by sta� and students. A total of 901 UL publications were placed in the prestigious databases Web of Science and Scopus (respectively, 310 records and 235 publications, and 591 record and 347 publications). Over the last six years (from 2009 to 2014), more than 2500 records of UL researchers’ work have been stored in the Web of Science database. 1530 of these are scienti� c articles. � e thematic distribution of journals shows that 67% of the UL publications for 2014 have been in the journals of the � rst quartile and 33% – in the journals of the second quartile. As in previous years, the most signi� cant topics included nuclear physics, optics, chemical physics, gastroenterology, food, microbiology, pharmacy, computer sciences and mathematics. Among the Latvia’s greatest scienti� c achievements listed by LAS for 2014, in theoretical science the experiment conducted by the German and Latvian scientists was recognised. During this experiment, the splitting of on-demand electron pairs in a nanoelectronic “quantum accelerator” was demonstrated for the � rst time (UL FPM Physics Department, � eoretical quantum nanoelectronics group led by Assoc. Prof. Vjacheslavs Kaščejevs); UL ISSP scientists have developed and applied a new evolutionary algorithm method for research of crystalline and nanocrystalline materials’ local structural and thermal disorder, using X-ray absorption spectrum analysis; the geolinguistic maps of Baltic languages have been created and compiled in the edition “Atlas of Baltic Languages. Vocabulary 1. Flora”, which clearly reveals both the spread of vocabulary and semantics’ phenomena characteristic to both languages in shared areas thereof, as well as speci� c phonetic and morphological qualities, and furthermore, language contacts (UL Latvian Language Institute and the Institute of the Lithuanian Language). Among the practically applicable methods LAS has accentuated the high-resolution mass spectrometry methods for determination of persistent organic pollutants in the Baltic Sea and the Latvian inland water � sh and other foods, developed by UL FCH and Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment Research Institute Bior.UL FEPA Education Research Institute researchers to-gether with the State Education Development Agency presented an OECD Programme for International Stu-dent Assessment 2012 survey of the Latvian students’ knowledge and skills in the � nancial sector, as well as announced the results of an OECD international learn-ing environment study devoted to teachers’ working conditions.

LU ZINĀTNISKIE SASNIEGUMI

LU struktūrvienībās veiktajos zinātniskajos pētījumos 2014.  gadā piedalījās gan darbinieki, gan studenti. Prestižajās datubāzēs Web of Science un Scopus kopā bija ievietota 901 LU publikācija (attiecīgi 310 ieraksti un 235 publikācijas un 591 ieraksts un 347 publikācijas). Pēdējo sešu gadu laikā (no 2009. līdz 2014. gadam) Web of Science datubāzē iekļauti vairāk nekā 2500 LU pētnieku darbu ieraksti, no kuriem 1530 ir zinātniskie raksti. Starp LZA nosauktajiem 2014.  gada nozīmīgākajiem zinātnes sasniegumiem Latvijā teorētiskajā zinātnē minēts Vācijas un Latvijas zinātnieku veiktais eksperiments, kura laikā pirmo reizi demonstrēta elektronu pāru skaldīšana nanoelektroniskajā “kvantu paātrinātājā” (LU FMF Fizikas nodaļas kvantu nano-elektonikas teorijas grupa asociētā profesora Vjačeslava Kaščejeva vadībā); LU CFI izstrādāta un pielietota jauna evolucionāro algoritmu metode kristālisku un nanokristālisku materiālu lokālās strukturālās un termiskās nesakārtotības pētījumiem, izmantojot rentgenstaru absorbcijas spektru analīzi; izveidotas un apkopotas baltu valodu ģeolingvistiskās kartes izdevumā “Baltu valodu atlants. Leksika 1. Flora”, kas uzskatāmi rāda gan abām valodām raksturīgo parādību kopīgo areālu izplatību leksikā un semantikā, gan arī fonētiskās un morfoloģiskās īpatnības, kā arī valodu kontaktus (LU Latviešu valodas institūts un Lietuviešu valodas institūts). No praktiski izmantojamām metodēm LZA akcentējusi LU ĶF un Pārtikas drošības, dzīvnieku veselības un vides zinātniskais institūta Bior izstrādātās augstas izšķirtspējas masspektrometrijas metodes notu rīgā organiskā piesārņojuma noteikšanai Baltijas jūras un Latvijas iekšējo ūdeņu zivīs un citos pārtikas produktos. PRESTIŽAS STIPENDIJAS ZINĀTNIEKIEM

LU Gada balvu par zinātniskās skolas izveidošanu saņēma Andris Actiņš un Ints Cālītis, par oriģināla pētījuma rezultātiem  – Filozo� jas un socioloģijas institūta pētniece Inta Mieriņa un MF profesors Mārcis Leja. Savukārt par izcilu promocijas darbu sumināti tika Andris Levāns un Aleksandrs Belovs. FMF asoc. prof. Vjačeslavs Kaščejevs saņēma apbalvojumu “Laiks Ziedonim” nominācijā zinātnē “Taureņu uzbrukums”. HZF emeritētajam prof. Viktoram Ivbulim tika pasniegta LZA Lielā balva. ĶF doktorants Toms Rēķis saņēma AS Grindeks fonda “Zinātnes un izglītības atbalstam” apbalvojumu “Sudraba pūce”. VFF prof. Aivars Stranga ieguva Vēstures izpētes un popularizēšanas biedrības balvu “Gada vēsturnieks”. LZA pavasara pilnsapulcē tika pasniegtas LZA vārda balvas zinātniekiem un jaunajiem zinātniekiem, apbalvoti tika arī vairāki LU pārstāvji.

ZINĀTNISKĀS KONFERENCES UNSEMINĀRI

2014.  gadā LU rīkoja 195 dažādas konferences, seminārus, zinātniskās diskusijas, vasaras skolas u. tml. LU 73. zinātniskā konference noritēja no janvāra līdz martam, un tajā bija iespēja noklausīties aptuveni 1500 ziņojumus vairāk nekā 130 sekciju sēdēs un 10 plenārsēdēs. FH Professor Emeritus Victor Ivbulis was awarded the Great Prize of LAS. � e FCH doctorate student Tom Rēķis received award “Silver Owl” of the JSC “Grindeks” Foundation “For the Support of Science and Education”. FHP Prof. Aivars Stranga was awarded the History Research and Promotion Society Award “� e Historian”. During LAS general meeting in spring LAS title prizes for young scientists and researchers were distributed, and a number of UL representatives received the prizes.

SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCES ANDSEMINARS

In 2014 UL organised 195 conferences, seminars, scienti� c discussions, summer schools, etc. � e 73rd Scienti� c Conference of UL continued from January to March. � e work of the conference was arranged in 10 plenary meetings and more than 130 section meetings, and in total more than 1500 reports were read. LU INOVĀCIJU CENTRS

Inovāciju centrs darbojas kopš 2006.  gada. Tā mērķis ir veicināt LU zinātnieku pētījumu rezultātu komercializāciju un sadarbību ar uzņēmumiem inovāciju jomā. Inovāciju centrs iesaistījās dažādās aktivitātēs (Ideju kauss, LU Studentu Biznesa inkuba-tors), sekmējot sabiedrības izpratni par inovāciju un zinātnieku lomu jaunu produktu izstrādē un ieviešanā.Pateicoties aktīvam Inovāciju centra darbam, 2014. gada vasarā darbu uzsāka LU, Rīgas Tehniskās universitātes un partnerorganizācijas no Norvēģijas veidotais Zaļo tehnoloģiju inkubators. Līdz 2014.  gada nogalei no 55 biznesa idejām deviņas bija saistītas ar LU.Inovāciju centrs sekmēja LU spin-o� uzņēmuma SIA InCell darbības attīstību un LU ĶF akadēmiskā personāla komandu iesaisti uzņēmējdarbībā, jau 2015.  gada sākumā nodibinot uzņēmumu Solid State Architects.

UL INNOVATION CENTRE

Innovation Centre has been operating since 2006. Its goal is to promote the commercialisation of the UL scientists’ research work and cooperation with businesses in the sphere of innovations. Innovation Centre was involved in various activities (Idea Cup, UL Student Business Incubator), contributing to public understanding of the innovation and the role played by scientists in new product development and introduction. � anks to the proactive work of the Innovation Centre, the Green Technology Incubator, which was established by UL, Riga Technical University and partner organization from Norway, started work in the summer of 2014, and until the end of the year of 55 business ideas nine were associated with UL.Innovation Centre promoted UL spin-o� company’s InCell Ltd. development, and UL FC academic sta� teams’ involvement in business, at the beginning of 2015 founding the company Solid State Architects.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

LU pievērš lielu uzmanību studiju procesa un pētnie-cības internacionalizācijai, lai piedāvātu visu līmeņu studentiem, zinātniekiem un mācībspēkiem daudzvei-dīgas iespējas studēt, praktizēties, kā arī veikt kopīgus pētījumus ar ārvalstu kolēģiem Latvijā un ārpus tās. Šādu piedāvājumu skaits pēdējos gados ir ievērojami audzis. 2014. gadā LU turpināja piedalīties sadarbības tīklos: EUA, UNICA, Campus Europae, UTRECHT network, nodeva BSRUN (Baltijas jūras reģiona univer-sitāšu sadarbības tīkla) sekretariāta funkcijas Vārmijas un Mazūru universitātei Olšteinā. Latvijas Universitāte aktīvi iesaistījās arī Baltijas inovatīvo pētījumu un Teh-noloģiju institūta (BIRTI) platformas projektā.

SADARBĪBAS LĪGUMI

LU ir noslēgti 136 divpusējās sadarbības līgumi ar augstskolām 43 valstīs. 2014. gadā tika noslēgti septiņi jauni divpusējie sadarbības līgumi ar augstskolām Indijā, Japānā, Kazahstānā, Ķīnā, Ukrainā.

APMAIŅAS STUDENTI

2014. gadā 465 LU studenti dažādās apmaiņas program-mās vienu semestri vai gadu studēja LU partneraugstsko-lās Eiropā, Amerikā, Āzijā. Arī LU kļūst aizvien pievilcī-gāka gan kā studiju, gan kā pētniecības vide – kopumā 543 ārzemju studenti izvēlējās apmaiņas studijas mūsu Alma Mater. Visplašākā apmaiņa notiek Erasmus pro-grammas ietvaros – LU noslēgti 768 sadarbības līgumi ar vairāk nekā 379 augstskolām 32 Eiropas valstīs.

STUDIJU PROGRAMMASSVEŠVALODĀS

LU piedāvā studiju programmas ne tikai latviešu, bet arī angļu valodā, kā arī citās svešvalodās. To skaits ar katru gadu pieaug. 2014.  gadā svešvalodā LU bija iespēja studēt 45 studiju programmās  – 23 pamatstudiju un augstākā līmeņa studiju, kā arī 12 doktorantūras studiju programmās. Kursi programmās tiek īstenoti ES valodās.

UL pays great attention to the internationalisation of the study process and research in order to be able to o� er the students at all levels, scientists and teachers a wide choice of study and practice opportunities and the chance to engage in joint research projects with foreign colleagues in Latvia and abroad. � e number of such o� ers in the recent years has signi� cantly grown. In 2014 UL continued to participate in the cooperation networks: EUA, UNICA, “Campus Europeae”, “UTRECHT net work”, and passed on the functions of BSRUN (Baltic Sea Region University Network) secretariat to University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. � e UL was also actively involved in the project on the platform of the Baltic Institute of Research, Technology and Innovation (BIRTI).

COOPERATION AGREEMENTS

UL has signed 136 bilateral cooperation agreements with higher education establishments in 43 countries. In 2014, 7 new bilateral cooperation agreements were concluded with the higher education establishments in India, Kazakhstan, China, Ukraine.

EXCHANGE STUDENTS

In 2014, 465 UL students studied in various one-semester or one-year exchange programmes at the UL partner universities in Europe, America and Asia. � e UL is becoming increasingly attractive both as a study and research location  – in total 543 foreign students chose the exchange studies at our Alma Mater. � e most extensive exchange is taking place in the framework of Erasmus Programme, where UL has signed 768 cooperation agreements with more than 379 higher education establishments in 32 European countries.

STUDY PROGRAMMES IN FOREIGNLANGUAGES

� e UL o� ers study programmes not only in the Latvian, but also in the English and other foreign languages. � eir number is growing with every year. In 2014, 45 study programmes were available in foreign languages at the UL  – 23 undergraduate and graduate programmes, as well as 12 doctoral programmes. � e courses in the programmes are delivered in the languages of EU.

PERSONNEL EXCHANGE

� e year 2014 saw continuation of the exchange programmes of teachers and students in the framework of Erasmus Mundus Action 2 projects Triple I and AURORA (exchange with the Russian universities), JoinEU-SEE III (exchange with the Western Balkan States’ universities) and AESOP (exchange with South African universities). Exchange of teachers and

2014. gadā turpinājās mācībspēku un studentu apmaiņa programmas Erasmus Mundus Action 2 projektu Triple I un AURORA (apmaiņa ar Krievijas augstskolām), JoinEU-SEE III (apmaiņa ar Rietumbalkānu valstu augstskolām) un AESOP (apmaiņa ar Dienvidāfrikas augstskolām) ietvaros. Mācībspēku un studentu apmaiņa 2014.  gadā turpinājās arī 2011.  gadā apstiprinātajā Erasmus Mundus projektā MOVER (apmaiņa ar Dienvidaustrumāzijas valstu augstskolām), kā arī turpinājās sadarbība projektu CENTAURI (apmaiņa ar Centrālāzijas valstu augstskolām) un Lot 3b (apmaiņa ar universitātēm Okupētajā Palestīnas teritorijā) ietvaros. 2014.  gadā Eiropas Komisija apstiprināja vēl vienu projekta pieteikumu (sadarbības programmā Erasmus Mundus Action 2), kurā Latvijas Universitāte ir viena no partneraugstskolām – LEADER (apmaiņa ar Āzijas augstskolām). Šajos projektos 2014.  gada nogalē tika uzsākta pieteikšanās, un nākotnē tiek plānota studentu, pasniedzēju un akadēmiskā personāla apmaiņa. LU akadēmiskais un administratīvais personāls aktīvi izmanto piedāvātās starptautiskās sadarbības iespējas (Erasmus+ programma un divpusēji sadarbības līgumi). 2014. gadā 99 LU mācībspēki un darbinieki lasīja lekcijas vai stažējās ārzemēs. Savukārt LU 2014.  gadā strādāja 93 ārvalstu viespasniedzēji un viespētnieki. SVARĪGĀKĀS ĀRZEMJU VIZĪTES

Katru gadu LU apmeklē vairāki augsti ārvalstu vie-si un notiek ārvalstu augstskolu delegāciju vizītes. 2014.  gadā LU viesojās 12 ārzemju delegācijas no Indijas, Japānas, Ķīnas, Lietuvas, Igaunijas, Vācijas, Taizemes, Itālijas. students in 2014 continued also in the framework of the Erasmus Mundus project MOVER approved in 2011 (exchange with Southeast Asian countries’ universities), and cooperation went on in the projects CENTAURI (exchange with Central Asian countries’ universities) and Lot 3b (exchange with the universities in the Occupied Palestinian territories). In 2014, the European Commission approved one more project proposal (in the framework of the cooperation programme Erasmus Mundus Action 2), in which the UL is one of the partner universities  – LEADER (exchange with Asian universities). Applying for those projects started at the end of 2014, and in future the exchange of students, teachers and academic personnel is envisaged. � e academic and administrative personnel of UL actively take advantage of the available opportunities for international cooperation (Erasmus+ programme and bilateral cooperation agreements). In 2014, 99 UL teachers and sta� members lectured or studied abroad. At the same time, 93 foreign guest teachers and visiting researchers worked at the UL during the past year. � e UL organised � ve international summer schools, as well as Heads of University Management and Administration Network (HUMANE) annual conference Measuring the University’s Performance: Data for Decisions, convening participants who represented 45 di� erent European universities.

NOTABLE VISITS

Every year the UL receives several prominent foreign guests and delegations from foreign universities. In 2014, the UL welcomed 12 delegations from India, Japan, China, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, � ailand, Italy. On their visits to the UL, many guests delivered lectures. � e lecturers included High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, the former BBC news pre-senter and host of the broadcasts � e Hub, BBC World Debates, Dateline London Nik Gowing, H. E. president of the Republic of Turkey Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, one of the most authoritative US commercial law ex-perts, practicing lawyer Joseph D. Lee, the great Argen-tine writer Mempo Giardinelli, and the Austrian writer Alfred Komarek.

� e highly educated and professional sta� is the most valuable asset of the UL. It concentrates the leading study and research potential in social and natural sciences, humanities and life sciences in the Republic of Latvia.

ACADEMIC PERSONNEL

In 2014, there were 2789 employees working at the UL as their basic or second workplace (868 with doctorate degrees), of which academic personnel accounted for 822, (631 with doctorate degrees), administration – for 209 employees. � e newly elected associate professors, professors, lecturers and leading researchers, together with the deans of the faculties were congratulated at the beginning of the new 2014/1015 academic year, whereas professors emeritus, honorary doctors and honorary members – at the ceremonial meeting of the UL Senate in September 2014.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND AWARDS

At the beginning of 2015 the awards were distributed to the best employees of the UL selected on the basis of the online survey results. � e best UL employees in 2014 were: Inga Medvedis, the Head of FC Laboratory, and Dace Simsone, the manager of the Student Service Register. � e UL SC Annual Prizes were distributed at the beginning of December and the honorary title of

SASNIEGUMI UN APBALVOJUMI

2015.  gada sākumā tika pasniegtas balvas gada labākajiem LU darbiniekiem, kuri tika noteikti, ņemot vērā elektroniskās aptaujas rezultātus. Par 2014.  gada labākajiem LU darbiniekiem atzīti Inga Medvedis, DF laboratorijas vadītājs, un Dace Simsone, Studentu servisa reģistra vadītāja. Decembra sākumā savus apbalvojumus pasniedza LU SP, par Gada dekānu tika atzīts TF dekāns Ralfs Kokins, par Gada pasniedzēju – EVF asoc. prof. Edgars Brēķis, bet par Gada tēla nesēju – FMF asoc. prof. Vjačeslavs Kaščejevs.

ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE UL

� e teaching sta� , scientists and researchers of the UL proactively join national and international institutions of a vast range: scienti� c, research, political, nongovernmental organisations, etc. FPM Assoc. Prof. Vyacheslavs Kaščejevs is the external advisor of Education and Science Minister. Four lecturers of the UL are members of Saeima (the Republic of Latvia Parliament). Prof. Inese Vaidere of the FEM is the Member of the European Parliament. Several teachers are also leaders of professional associations, e.g. Prof. Ingrīda Rumba-Rozenfelde, Dean of the FM, is also President of the Association of the Paediatric Rheumatologists, whereas Prof. Andrejs Ērglis is the Head of the Latvian Society of Cardiology. Representatives of several UL institutions are members of the Investigation Commission of Committee for State Security Archives. Andris Vilks, teacher of the Information and Libraries Study Section of the FSS, is the Director of the National Library of Latvia. Several UL sta� members work at the RL Ministry of Education and Science, at the LAS, in the Latvian Council of Science, in the decision making and supervisory institutions, regarding science and education at the EU level and as deputies in local governments. � e UL teachers sit on the juries of various competitions.

LU mācībspēki, zinātnieki un pētnieki aktīvi iesaistās plaša spektra nacionāla un starptautiska līmeņa institūcijās: zinātniskās, pētniecības, politiskās, neval-stiskās u. c. Izglītības un zinātnes ministres ārštata pa-dom nieks ir FMF asoc. prof. Vjačeslavs Kaščejevs. Četri LU mācībspēki ir LR Saeimas deputāti. LU EVF prof. Inese Vaidere ir Eiropas Parlamenta deputāte. Vairāki pasniedzēji ir arī profesionālo asociāciju vadītāji, piemēram, Latvijas Bērnu reimatologu asociācijas prezidente ir MF dekāne prof. Ingrīda Rumba-Rozenfelde, bet Latvijas Kardiologu biedrību vada prof. Andrejs Ērglis, vairāku LU institūciju pārstāvji ir Valsts Drošības komitejas arhīvu izpētes komisijas sastāvā. SZF Informācijas un bibliotēku studiju nodaļas pasniedzējs Andris Vilks ir Latvijas Nacionālās bibliotēkas direktors. Vairāki LU darbinieki strādā LR Izglītības un zinātnes ministrijā un darbojas LZA, Latvijas Zinātnes padomē, ES līmeņa zinātnes un izglītības politikas lēmējinstitūcijās un pārraudzības institūcijās, kā arī ir deputāti pašvaldībās. FINANCES AND DEVELOPMENT IN 2014

2014.  gadā LU budžeta ieņēmumi (bez aģentūrām) bija 62,4  milj. EUR. Ieņēmumi no valsts dotācijas augstākajai izglītībai veido 24,2% no LU kopējiem ieņēmumiem, no ES struktūrfondu projektiem  – 34,9%, bet pašu ieņēmumi no studiju maksas  – 18,0%. LU īstenojusi šādus Attīstības un plānošanas departamenta pārraudzībā esošus projektus: 22 ESF, 61 ERAF, 12 Eiropas Teritoriālās sadarbības programmas, trīs Eiropas Komisijas LIFE programmas, četrus NORDPLUS, vienu Latvijas un Šveices sadarbības programmas grantu shēmas “Šveices pētnieku aktivitātes Latvijā”, kā arī 16 Norvēģijas � nanšu instrumenta programmas “Pētniecība un stipendijas” projektus.Budžeta izdevumi 2014.  gadā bija 56  milj. EUR. Lielākā daļa LU budžeta tiek izlietota personāla atlīdzībai, dažādiem pakalpojumiem, stipendijām un kapitālajiem izdevumiem. Stipendiju apjoms 2014.  gadā bija 3  milj. EUR. Mācību līdzekļu un materiālu, kā arī periodikas un grāmatu iegādei 2014. gadā tērēts 115 tūkst. EUR.

In 2014, the income of the UL budget (excluding agencies) was EUR 62.4 million. Income from the government subsidy to the higher education accounted for 24.2% of the UL total income, from EU structural fund projects – 34.9%, and own income from tuition fees  – 18.0%. � e UL has realised the following projects under the supervision of the Development and Planning Department: 22 ESF, 61 ERDF, 12 European Territorial cooperation programmes and three European Comission “LIFE” programme projects, four NORDPLUS projects, one project within the grant scheme of Latvian-Swiss cooperation programme “Activities of Swiss researchers in Latvia”, as well as 16  Norwegian Financial Mechanism programme “Research and Scholarships” projects. � e budgetary expenses in 2014 amounted to EUR 56 million. � e greatest part of the UL budget was spent on the sta� salaries, various services, scholarships and capital expenditure. � e total volume of scholarships in 2014 was EUR 3 million. Teaching aids and materials as well as periodicals and literature in 2014 were purchased for EUR 115 thousand.

LU DABASZINĀTŅU AKADĒMISKĀCENTRA IZVEIDE

Latvijas Universitāte Torņakalnā plāno izveidot modernu centru ar vairākām ēkām, kas radītu ērtu, funkcionālu, ekonomisku un uz ilgtspējīgu attīstību orientētu studiju, pētniecības, darba un sadzīves vidi. 2014.  gada sākumā ģenerāluzņēmējs pilnsabiedrība LNK Industries group uzsāka būvniecības darbus Torņakalnā. Plānots, ka 2015. rudenī durvis vērs pirmā ēka – Dabaszinātņu akadēmiskais centrs.Dabaszinātņu akadēmiskais centrs ir pirmā kārta projektā, kas paredz izveidot mūsdienīgu zināšanu un jauno tehnoloģiju izpētes un apguves vietu. Tajā atradīsies ĢZZF, ĶF, BF, kā arī daļa no MF un FMF Optometrijas un redzes zinātņu nodaļa.Visā būvniecības periodā darbi notiek vairākās maiņās ar paaugstinātu izpildes tempu – astoņu mēnešu laikā tika pilnībā izbūvēts ēkas karkass no pamatiem līdz ēkas jumtam. 2014. gada 28. maijā svinīgi tika ielikts ēkas pamatakmens un laika kapsula, bet 28.  oktobrī tika atzīmēti spāru svētki. Visu šo laiku ģenerāluzņēmējs veica arī ārējo inženierkomunikāciju tīklu izbūvi teritorijā un līdz ziemas iestāšanās brīdim paspēja paveikt daļu teritorijas labiekārtošanas darbu.

ESTABLISHMENT OF THE UL ACADEMIC CENTRE OF NATURALSCIENCES

In the district of Torņakalns in Riga, the University of Latvia is planning a modern Academic Centre with several buildings in order to create comfortable, functional, cost-saving and sustainable development-oriented study, research, work and living environment.In 2014, the general contractor partnership LNK Industries Group – commenced building in Torņakalns. It is planned that the � rst building  – the Academic Centre of Natural Sciences will open its doors in the autumn of 2015.� e Academic Centre of Natural Sciences is the � rst round of the project, which provides for the establishment of modern knowledge and new technology research and learning space. It will house FGES, FCH, FB, part of the FM and FPM Department of Optometry and Vision Science.� roughout the period of construction the works con-tinue in several shifts with a high performance rate – within eight months the building’s frame from the foundation to the roof was fully constructed. On May 28, 2014, the foundation stone of the building and a time capsule were solemnly laid in earth, and the � n-

ished construction of rafters was celebrated on October 28. All this time, the general con-tractor also conducted the construction of ex-ternal engineering net-works in the territory, and upon arrival of the winter managed to ac-complish part of the area improvement.

RADOŠĀS AKTIVITĀTES

LU biedrība Juventus apvieno 20 mākslinieciskās paš-darbības kolektīvus, kuros darbojas 848 dalībnieki. Ar kolektīviem strādā 40 kvali� cēti diriģenti, kor meistari, baletmeistari, režisori, koncertmeistari. 2014.  gadā kolektīvi piedalījās 252  pasākumos. Vasaras spilgtākais notikums bija dalība 17.  Baltijas valstu studentu dziesmu un deju svētkos Gaudeamus laikā no 27. līdz 29. jūnijam Daugavpilī. Svētkos piedalījās 13 mākslinieciskās pašdarbības kolektīvi ar 478 dalībniekiem.Latvijas Universitātes pūtēju orķestris uzvarēja 6. Lat-vijas pūtēju orķestru konkursā, kas noslēdzās 30. martā.31. martā LU jauktais koris Juventus aicināja uz “Pavasara nakts koncertu” Sv. Pētera baznīcā. Koncerts notika dienā, kad visa pasaule sadevās rokās, lai domātu par enerģijas un resursu taupīšanu un vides saudzēšanu ikdienā Zemes labā, simboliski izslēdzot apgaismojumu uz vienu stundu.Koris “Minjona” jūnijā piedalījās 9. starptautiskajā koru festivālā Pomerānijā. Savukārt LU TDA “Dancis” latviešu tautas dejas un LU vārda nešanai pasaulē ar 40 dalībniekiem piedalījās starptautiskajā festivālā “Ohridas viļņi 2014”, kas norisinājās no 21. jūlija līdz 1. augustam Ohridā, Maķedonijā.

KULTŪRAS PASĀKUMI

LU Lielajā aulā 2014. gadā ir notikuši dažādi pasākumi ar LU māksliniecisko kolektīvu un citu Latvijas un ārvalstu kolektīvu piedalīšanos. 22. martā Lielajā aulā notika Jāņa Petera 75. jubilejai veltīts koncerts ar koru, solistu un instrumentālās grupas piedalīšanos. Pie klavierēm bija maestro Raimonds Pauls. Lielā aula bija mājvieta vairākiem Pasaules koru olimpiādes pasākumiem laikā no 9. līdz 19. jūlijam. Savukārt 16. novembrī aulu pieskandināja FMF jauktā kora “Aura” 10 gadu jubilejas koncerts “Dziedot dzimu, dziedot augu”. Lielo gada kultūras pasākumu virkni Lielajā aulā 18. decembrī noslēdza tradicionālais koncerts Ziemassvētku noskaņās studentiem un darbiniekiem “Ticu vienkāršam Ziemassvētku brīnumam”.21. maijā notika LU jauno mūzikas grupu konkurss “Hadrons 2014”, kurā uzvarēja mūziķu apvienība Dj Krankenwagen, kas pārstāv LU MF. Visa 2014.  gada garumā aktīva kultūras pasākumu norises vieta bija LU Botāniskais dārzs. Tur vasarā sāka darboties RIXC mākslas darbs “Dīķa baterija”, skaņu mākslas izstāde “Skan II”, kā arī notika vairākas izstādes un citi pasākumi.Viens no krāšņākajiem kultūras notikumiem bija LU SP organizētie jauno studentu svētki “Aristotelis”, kuri 2014. gadā notika jau 48. reizi. LU Studentu teātris iestudēja Šekspīra “Otello”, pirmizrāde bija 19. oktobrī. 2014.  gadā Rīga bija Eiropas kultūras galvaspilsēta, un LU notika daudzi “Rīga 2014” pasākumi, tostarp vairāki no iepriekš minētajiem.

CREATIVE ACTIVITIES

� e UL association Juventus unites 20 artistic amateur groups with 848 participants working under the guidance of 40 quali� ed conductors, choir masters, choreographers, directors and concert masters. In 2014 the amateur collectives took part in 252 cultural events. Last summer’s peak event was the participation in the 17th Baltic Students’ Song and Dance Festival Gaudeamus from June 27 to 29 in Daugavpils. Festival was attended by 13 artistic amateur groups with 478  participants. � e UL Wind Orchestra won the 1st place in the 6th Latvian Wind Orchestras’ Contest, which concluded on March 30. � e mixed chorus of the UL Juventus invited to the “Spring Night Concert” in St.Peter’s church on March 31. � e concert took place on the day when the whole world joined hands to think about energy and resource saving and protecting the environment on a daily basis for the bene� t of Earth, symbolically turning o� the lights for one hour. In June the choir Minjona participated in the 9th

International Choir Festival in Pomerania. UL folk dance ensemble Dance with its 40 members, in turn, promoted Latvian folk dance and the name of UL in the world by participating in the international festival “Ohrid Waves 2014”, which took place from July 21 to August 1 in Ohrid, Macedonia.

CULTURAL EVENTS

� e Great Hall of the UL in 2014 hosted various events with the participation of the UL artistic ensembles, and other collectives from Latvia and abroad.A concert dedicated to the poet Jānis Peters 75th anniversary was held in the Great Hall with participation of choirs, soloists and an instrumental group. Maestro Raimonds Pauls was at the piano. � e Great Hall was home to several World Choir Games events during the period from July 9 to 19. On November 16 the Hall was immersed in sound of the FPM mixed choir “Aura” 10th anniversary concert “I was born and raised singing” (“Dziedot dzimu, dziedot augu”). Great series of cultural events in the Great Hall on December 19 was concluded by the traditional Christmas concert for students and employees “I believe in a simple Christmas miracle” (“Ticu vienkāršam Ziemassvētku brīnumam”).UL new music band competition Hadrons took place on May 21, and the winner was the association of musicians Dj Krankenwagen, representing UL FM. � roughout 2014 UL Botanical Gardens hosted series of cultural events. � e art installation by RIXC “Pond Battery” (“Dīķa baterija”), “Still life” (“Klusā daba”) was unveiled, the sound art exhibition “It Sounds II” (“Skan II”) as well as many other exhibitions and events took place in the Gardens. One of the most picturesque culture events was the festival of freshmen “Aristotelis”, organised by UL SC and in 2014 held already for the 48th time.

SPORTS

LU sporta dzīvi organizē un vada Sporta servisa centrs. LU studentiem ir iespēja apmeklēt sporta nodarbības aerobikā, volejbolā, basketbolā, futbolā, beisbolā, frisbijā, galda tenisā, vieglatlētikā, kendo, � orbolā, distanču slēpošanā un dažādos cīņas sporta veidos. Sporta servisa centrs piedāvā dažādas sacensības, kurās studentiem un darbiniekiem ir iespēja pašu organizētās komandās sacensties ar citiem augstskolas biedriem. LU ir divas vecākās studentu līgas Baltijā: futbolā, kas jau astoņus gadus kopā pulcē 17 komandas, kā arī bas-ketbolā, kur vienpadsmito sezonu aizvada 11 studentu un mācībspēku komandas. LU ir viena no nedaudzajām universitātēm Baltijā, kur iespējams īstenot karjeru sportā. 2014.  gadā LU stu-dēja ap 300 augstas klases sportistu, vairāki studenti bija Latvijas izlašu kandidāti vai dalībnieki. Studenti, kuriem ir labi panākumi sportā, saņem studiju maksas atvieglojumus un īpašas stipendijas. Vīriešu basketbo-la komanda, kurā spēlē tikai augstskolas studenti, ir nopietna konkurence ikvienai profesionāļu komandai valsts spēcīgākajā čempionātā un katru gadu sagatavo konkurētspējīgus un citos klubos pieprasītus basketbo-listus. 2013./2014.  gada sezonā basketbola komanda “Latvijas Universitāte” “Aldara” Latvijas Basketbola lī-gas čempionātā ieguva 8. vietu, savukārt Starptautiskajā studentu basketbola līgā, startējot vairāk nekā 10 da-žādu valstu augstskolu komandu konkurencē, izcīnīja 3.  vietu. Latvijas studentu basketbola līgā un Latvijas XXIV universiādē tika izcīnītas 1. vietas, turklāt nepie-dzīvojot nevienu zaudējumu visu sacensību laikā. LU studenti plaši pārstāv Latvijas futbola virslīgas čempio-nāta komandu FS METTA / Latvijas Universitāte un 2014. gadā ierindojās 9. vietā starp citām profesionāļu komandām. Universitātes � orbola izlase izcīnīja 3. vie-tu Latvijas XXIV universiādē � orbolā un ir viena no spēcīgākajām Latvijas čempionāta 1. līgas komandām. Augstu līmeni un profesionalitāti attīstījušas LU karsēj-meitenes, tā pamatoti tiek uzskatīta par vienu no labā-kajām karsējmeiteņu komandām Latvijā.

UL Student theatre staged Shakespeare’s “Othello”, premiered on October 19. Riga was the European Capital of Culture, and UL hosted many “Riga 2014” events, which include several of aforementioned ones.

SPORTS

� e sports activities at the UL are organized and directed by the Sports Services Centre. � e UL students are given the opportunity to practice aerobics, volleyball, basketball, football, baseball, frisbee, table tennis, track-and-� eld athletics, kendo, � oor ball, cross-country skiing and various martial arts. Sports Services Centre provides various competitions,  – a great chance for students and sta� to organise the teams and compete with other university colleagues.� e UL is the home of the two oldest student leagues in the Baltics: football, already for eight years uniting 17 teams, and basketball, where 11 student and teach-ers’ teams are playing for the eleventh season.� e UL is one of a few universities in the Baltics provid-ing the opportunity to make a career in sports. In 2014 the UL was the study place for approximately 300 top-class athletes, several candidates and participants of the Latvian national teams. � e students who are success-ful athletes receive discounts on tuition fee and special scholarships. � e men’s basketball team consisting only of students, is a serious rival to any professional team in the strongest national championship, and every year prepares competitive basketball players, highly demand-ed by other clubs. During the season of 2013/2014 the basketball club Latvijas Universitāte won the 8th place in Aldaris Latvia’s Basketball League championship, whereas in the International Student Basketball League the 3rd place was achieved among the university teams of 10 countries. Both in Student Basketball League of Latvia and Latvia’s XXIV Universiade the team won the 1st places with no losses throughout the entire compe-tition. UL students are widely represented in Latvian

Higher League Championship team FS Metta / University of Latvia, and in 2014 ranked the 9th among other professional teams. University � oorball team won the 3rd place in the Latvia’s XXIV Universiade, discipline of � oorball, and it is one of the strongest Latvian Championship 1st League teams. A high level of professionalism is developed by UL cheerleaders,  – their team is rightly regarded as one of the best in Latvia.

BIBLIOTĒKU PIEDĀVĀJUMS

LU Bibliotēka nodrošina pakalpojumus deviņās bibliotēkās fakultāšu ēkās, pētniecības bibliotēkā Kal-paka bulvārī un attālināti tiešsaistē. Informācijas resursu krājums ir papildināts ar 17 077 jaunieguvumiem (t. sk. 171 e-grāmata) un kopā veido 1 662 932 informācijas resursu vienības, no kurām gada laikā izsniegtas 604 758. LU Bibliotēkas 10 bibliotēkas apmeklējis 492 841 lietotājs, reģistrēti 733 223 virtuālie lietotāji. Nodrošināta piekļuve 281 datubāzu resursam. Veikta topošās Dabaszinātņu bibliotēkas krājuma in-ventarizācija vairāk nekā 60 tūkstošu vienību apjomā.Izdotas trīs biobibliogrā� jas sērijā “LU rektori”, kas veltītas LU rek-toriem M. Zīlem, M. Prīmanim un M. Bīmanim. Atklāta pastāvīgā “Bibliotēku dārgumu“ ekspozīcija, bet Napoleona Ēģiptes ekspedīcijas oriģinālgravīras no Bibliotēkas ko-lekcijas tika izstādītas mākslas muze-ja “Rīgas birža” izstādē “Tutanhamo-na dzintars. Senā Ēģipte”.LU personāla informācijpratības izaugsmes vei cināšanai ir uzsākts in tensīvs konsultāciju un mācību darbs klātienē un attālināti (novadī-tas 223 nodarbības).LU Akadēmiskā bibliotēka ir vie-na no senākajām bibliotēkām Ei-ropā (dibināta 1524.  gadā). LU Akadēmiskās bibliotēkas kopējais krājuma apjoms ir 3,3  miljoni ek-semplāru. Tās rokrakstu kolekcija (90 659  eksemplāri) aptver laika posmu no 13.  gadsimta līdz mūsdienām. LU Akadē-miskās bibliotēkas atsevišķa un nozīmīga daļa – Misiņa bibliotēka (dibināta 1885.  gadā) ir pilnīgākā latviešu literatūras krātuve pasaulē (vairāk nekā miljons dažāda veida iespieddarbu, sākot no 17. gadsimta). LU Akadē-miskās bibliotēkas krājums 2014. gadā papildinājies par 33 tūkstošiem vienību jauniegūtās literatūras, lietotāju rīcībā bija elektroniskie tiešsaistes resursi atbilstoši LU studiju un zinātniskās darbības virzieniem. 2014. gadā lietotājiem izsniegti 1,3 miljoni dokumentu, reģistrēti vairāk nekā 16,6 tūkstoši lietotāju.

LU AKADĒMISKAIS APGĀDS

2014.  gadā LU Akadēmiskais apgāds laidis klajā 128 izdevumus: grāmatas, žurnālus, rakstu krājumus u. c. Tā apgrozījums 2014. gadā bija 180 518,34 EUR. Pla-šu rezonansi masu medijos izraisīja grāmata “Latviešu valoda” Andreja Veisberga redakcijā un Aldoņa Vēriņa grāmata “Latvietis un viņa peonijas”. 2014.  gads bija Akadēmiskā apgāda 10 gadu jubilejas gads, kurš tika at-zīmēts ar vērienīgu izstādi LU Akadēmiskajā bibliotēkā: lasītāji varēja aplūkot vairāk nekā 1000 grāmatas, kas izdotas apgāda pastāvēšanas 10 gados.

LIBRARIES’ STOCK

� e UL Library provides the services in 9 library branches located in the faculty buildings, the research library at Kalpaka bulvāris and online. � e collection of information resources has been complemented by 17,077 acquisitions (including 171 e-book) and in total comprises 1,662,932 units of information resources. From these 604,758 were borrowed by the readers throughout the year. 10 branches of UL Library were visited by 492,841 users, 733,223 virtual users have been registered. Access to 281 database resources has been provided.

� e stock inventory of more than 60 thousand units has been carried out for the future Natural Sciences Library.� ree bio-bibliographies have been published in the series “UL Rectors”, dedicated to UL Rectors M. Zīle, M. Prīmanis and M. Bīmanis. � e permanent exhibition “Library Treasures” was opened, and the original engrav-ings from the Napoleon’s Egyptian expedition, which are a part of the Library’s collection, were exhibited at the Art Museum “Riga Bourse” exhibition “� e Amber of Tutankhamun. Ancient Egypt”. To foster the information literacy of UL sta� , an in-tensive counselling and training work has commenced both on site and via remote studies (223  lessons pro-vided).� e UL Academic Library is among the oldest libraries in Europe (founded in 1524). � e total collection of the UL Academic Library comprises 3.3 millions of units. Its collection of manuscripts (90,659 copies) spans the period from the 13th century until the present days. A separate and unique part of the UL Academic Library – Misiņš’ Library (founded in 1885) – is the world’s rich-est collection of the Latvian literature (over one million various printed works dating back to the 17th century). LU ZINĀTŅU UN TEHNIKASVĒSTURES MUZEJS

LU darbojas Zinātņu un tehnikas vēstures muzejs, kurā ietilpst astoņas � liāles. 2014.  gadā to apmeklēja 9647  interesenti, aptuveni trešdaļa no tiem piedalījās LU Vēstures muzeja organizētajā Muzeju nakts pasākumā. Muzejs bija pieejams interesentiem arī Zinātnieku nakts laikā. Regulāri tiek eksponēts “mēneša priekšmets”. Veiksmīgi darbojās miniplanetārijs, kuru apmeklēja 1290 cilvēki. Izdots muzeja sagatavotais LU Rakstu krājums Nr. 800.

LU BOTĀNISKAIS DĀRZS UN RODODENDRU SELEKCIJAS UN IZMĒĢINĀJUMU AUDZĒTAVA“BABĪTE”

Botāniskajā dārzā ar mecenātu Borisa un Ināras Teterevu fonda atbalstu 2014.  gadā 7000 m2 platībā dārza centrālajā daļā ir atjaunota un paplašināta rododendru, alpinārija, ziemciešu un dīķa ekspozīcija. Fonds ir � nansējis arī vecā koka žoga nomaiņu pret metāla žogu 739  m garumā gar Slokas, Kandavas un daļēji Dzirciema ielu. Šajā gadā dārzu ir apmeklējuši 64 764 cilvēki.LU Rododendru selekcijas un izmēģinājumu audzētava “Babīte” 2014.  gadā reģistrējusi Anglijas Karaliskās dārzkopības biedrības Starptautiskajā rododendru šķirņu reģistrā septiņas jaunas rododendru šķirnes, kas selekcionētas prof. R. Kondratoviča vadībā. Kopējais LU izveidoto un starptautiski reģistrēto brīvdabas rododen-dru šķirņu skaits sasniedzis 93. Rododendru ziedēšanas laikā audzētavu apmeklējuši 18 700 interesenti, pārdots vairāk nekā 6000 stādu.

UNIVERSITY OF LATVIA PRESS

In 2014, UL Press has released 128  issues: books, journals, collections of articles, etc. Its turnover in 2014 amounted to EUR 180,518.34. An extensive resonance in the mass media was created by the book “Latvian Language” (“Latviešu valoda”) in edition of Andrejs Veisbergs and the book by Aldonis Vēriņš “Latvian and his peonies” (“Latvietis un viņa peonijas”). 2014 was the UL Press 10th anniversary year, which was marked by a major exhibition at the UL Academic Library: readers could see more than 1000 books published by University of Latvia Press during the 10 years of its work.

UL MUSEUM OF THE HISTORY OFSCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY

� e UL has its own Museum of the History of Sciences and Technology with eight branches. In 2014, it was visited by 9647 people, approximately one third of which participated in the Museum Night event arranged by the UL Museum of History. � e public was admitted to the Museum also during the Scientists’ Night event. On the regular basis the Museum displays “the Object of the Month”. Mini-planetarium worked with continued success, and was attended by 1290  people. � e Collection of Scienti� c Papers “History of Sciences and Museology”, Volume 800, prepared by the museum, has been published.

UL BOTANICAL GARDENS AND THE RHODODENDRON NURSERY“BABĪTE”

With the support of the patrons Boriss and Ināra Teterevs, the expositions of rhododendrons, the alpine garden, wintergreens and the pond were renewed in the total area of 7000 m2 in the central part of the Gardens. Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation has also funded the replacement of the old wooden fence with metal one – 739 m along Slokas, Kandavas and partly Dzirciema iela. � e UL Botanical Gardens in 2014 welcomed 64,764 visitors. � e Rhododendron Nursery “Babīte” in 2014 registered seven new varieties of rhododendron developed under the leadership of Prof. R. Kondratovičs in the International Rhododendron Register of Britain’s Royal Horticultural Society. � e total number of the open-air rhododendron varieties developed at the UL and registered internationally has reached 93. At the blossoming time of rhododendrons, the garden was attended by 18,700 visitors and more than 6000 plants were sold.

ZINĀTNES KOMUNIKĀCIJA

2014. gadā notika astoņi pasākumi “Zinātnes kafejnī-ca”, kurus varēja apmeklēt gan klātienē, gan arī skatīties tiešraidē internetā. Pasākumu temati 2014.  gadā bija veltīti pētījumiem par policiju, maģiskajai domāšanai, zāļu atklāšanai, Marsam, Rīgai, pilsoniskās līdzdalības jautājumiem, LPSR Valsts drošības komitejas mantoju-ma pētniecībai un digitalizācijai, kā arī vie dajām pilsē-tām. 16. un 17. augustā interesenti tika aicināti uz Vērma-nes dārzu apmeklēt brīvdabas zinātnisko laboratori-ju “Zināšanu pagalms”. Zinātnieku nakts 2014 laikā 26.  septembrī LU fakultā-tēs, institūtos un citās struk-tūrvienībās notika plaša un aizraujoša pasākumu pro-gramma par tēmu “Kristā-li”. Tajā pašā dienā uz pa-sākumu Esplanādē aicināja arī Zinātnes festivāls, kuru vadīja un kurā ar eksperi-mentiem piedalījās jaunie LU zinātnieki.LU portālā ir publikāciju cikli “Mēneša pētnieks” un “Pētījums”, kuros stāstīts par aktuāliem LU pētījumiem dažādās zinātnes nozarēs. Interneta balsojumā un žūrijas vērtējumā tika noteikti veiksmīgāko publikāciju autori un pētnieki, un viņiem tika pasniegtas LU Zinātnes komunikācijas balvas. VFF organizēja populārzinātnisko lekciju ciklu par Lat-vijas vēsturi, 2013. gadā izveidotajā iniciatīvā LU Open Minded 2014. gadā notika vairāki lekciju kursi.2014.  gadā LU radio NABA bija iespēja noklausīties astoņus raidījumus “Zinātnes vārdā”. Izskanēja 17 rai-dījumi “Vēstures ķīlis”, piedaloties daudziem LU mācīb-spēkiem un studentiem.LU paspārnē darbojas Astronomiskais tornis, kas gada tumšākajā periodā – no rudens līdz pavasarim – vienu vakaru nedēļā piedāvā vērot zvaigžņotās debesis visiem interesentiem. 2014. gadā Astronomisko torni apmek-lēja 257 cilvēki.

UNIVERSITĀTES ŽURNĀLS ALMA MATER

LU žurnāls Alma Mater iznāk četras reizes gadā, atspoguļojot nozīmīgākos notikumus Universitātē. 2014. gadā kā dāvana LU 95 gadu jubilejā tika izveidots jauns žurnāla dizains. Jubilejas numurs tika veltīts LU vēsturei, uz sarunu tika aicināti vairāki sabiedrībā zināmi absolventi, kā arī bijusī ĶF darbiniece Milda Pūrīte, kas dzimusi LU dibināšanas gadā. Citos žurnāla numuros aplūkoti zinātnes procesi, neparastas personības un viņu paveiktais, jaunie un daudzsološie pētnieki, sporta un kultūras norises, apmaiņas studentu stāsti, sadzīves ainiņas un daudz kas cits. Abonenti žurnālu PDF formātā saņem e-pastā.

SCIENCE COMMUNICATION

In 2014, eight “Science Cafe” events took place, which could be attended or viewed live online. � e topics in 2014 were devoted to research on police, magical thinking, discovery of medicines, Mars, Riga, issues of civic participation, Latvian SSR KGB heritage research and digitalisation, as well as smart cities.� e interested parties were invited to attend an open-air scienti� c laboratory in Vērmanes garden – “Knowledge yard”, which took place in August 16 and 17. Dur-ing the Scientists’ Night 2014 on September 26 UL faculties, institutes and other bodies held an extensive

and exciting program of events devoted to the theme “Crystals”. On the same day the event on the Espla-nade  – the Festival of Sci-ence welcomed the visitors. It was led by the young UL scientists, who also partici-pated in the experiments. UL portal issues publica-tion cycles “Researcher of the month” and “Research”, telling of the current UL re-search in various scienti� c

� elds. Internet vote and the jury determined the au-thors of the most successful publications, and they were awarded the UL Science Communication Awards.FHP organized a cycle of popular lectures devoted to history of Latvia. � e initiative LU Open Minded, which was established in 2013, held a number of lecture courses in 2014.In 2014, the UL radio NABA broadcasted eight pro-grammes “In the name of science” (“Zinātnes vārdā”). � ere were 17 broadcasts “History wedge” (“Vēstures ķīlis”) with participation of many UL faculty teachers and students.Astronomical Tower of UL in the dark period of the year for one evening a week invites the public to watch the starry sky. In 2014, it was attended by 257 visitors.

UL MAGAZINE ALMA MATER

“Alma Mater” is a quarterly magazine of UL re� ecting signi� cant events at the University. In 2014, as a gift for the University’s 95th anniversary, a new magazine design was created. � e anniversary issue was dedicated to the history of the UL, and several alumni of public renown were invited for an interview, as well as a former employee of the FCH Milda Pūrīte, who was born on the founding year of UL. Other issues of the magazine deal with the scienti� c processes, unusual personalities and their achievements, the young and promising researchers, sports and cultural activities, student exchanges stories, scenes of everyday life and much more. � e subscribers can receive the magazine by e-mail in the PDF format.

LU portālā www.lu.lv gan latviešu, gan angļu valodā tiek publicēta aktuālā informācija par studijām, noti-kumiem un paredzētajām aktivitātēm LU. 2014. gadā tika nodrošināti astoņi interneta tiešraides pasākumi “Zinātnes kafejnīca”, 150 video ieraksti un diskusiju, konferenču, semināru, u. c. pasākumu tiešraides. LU portāla publiskās daļas unikālo apmeklētāju skaits mē-nesī sasniedza vidēji 81 000. Pabeigtas vairāk nekā 10 dažādas sarežģītības interne-ta mājaslapas, izmantojot LU satura vadības rīku un vienotu dizainu. 2014. gadā LU pro� la sekotāju skaits sasniedza 9000 sekotājus Facebook portālā, 6515  se-kotājus Twitter portālā, 3383 sekotājus draugiem.lv, 1600  se kotājus LinkedIn portālā uzņē muma lapai un 18 000 se kotājus izglītības lapai. 2014. gadā LU kanālu Youtube  abonentu skaits bija 463 un skatījumu skaits sasniedza 157 926.

FOTOARHĪVS

LU fotoattēlu krājums 2014. gadā papildināts par ap-mēram 8900 attēliem, no kuriem ap 7600 attēlu pie-ejami publiskajā fotoarhīvā foto.lu.lv. Kopējais attēlu skaits ir vairāk nekā 72 000. Mēnesī LU publiskajam fotoarhīvam ir vidēji 3440 apmeklējumu. Par 59% pie-audzis augstas izšķirtspējas attēlu skatīšanas un lejupie-lādes biežums, no 110 000 reizēm mēnesī 2013. gadā palielinoties līdz 175 000 reizēm 2014.  gadā. Fotoat-tēli izmantoti dažādos LU, preses un citos drukātajos izdevumos, kā arī interneta portālos. Mēnesī ir aptuve-ni 4900  meklēšanas pieprasījumu. Biežāk meklētie ir MMPF, Botāniskā dārza, SZF, kā arī FMF un HZF at-tēli.

LU RADIO NABA (FM 95,8)

2014. gadā LU radio NABA (www.naba.lv) īstenota LU radio programmas atjaunošana pilnā apjomā jaunajā frekvencē FM 95,8  – izveidoti jauni raidījumi par mūziku, mākslu un sportu, lai 2015. gadā radio NABA kļūtu par Latvijas Radio 6 programmu, raidot 24 stundas diennaktī. 2014. gadā radio bija 40 regulāri raidījumi, kuru veidošanā bija iesaistīti 85 cilvēki, no tiem 45 – LU studenti vai absolventi. Vērtējot pēc jauno studentu iesaistīšanās programmas veidošanā, vadošās pozīcijas saglabā SZF, EVF, PPMF un VFF studenti.  gada nogalē ar daudzveidīgu kultūras un izklaides pasākumu programmu radio atzīmēja 12.  dzimšanas dienu. LU radio NABA 2014.  gadā klausītāju skaits palielinājies līdz 32 000.

PORTAL

� e UL portal www.lu.lv both in Latvian and English provides the information on studies, events and scheduled activities in the UL. � e Russian version of the portal has been created. In 2014, there were eight live broadcasts of the events at � e Science Cafe, 104 video recordings and live broadcasts of discussions, conferences, seminars and other events. � e number of unique viewers of the UL portal’s public part on average reached 81,000 per month. More than 10 Internet homepages of various complex-ity have been developed using the UL content manage-ment tool and uniform design. In 2014, the UL pro� le reached 9000 followers on Facebook, 6515 followers on Twitter, 3383 followers on Draugiem.lv, and 1600 fol-lowers of LinkedIn company page and 18,000 followers of education page. In 2014, the number of UL channel subscribers in Youtube amounted to 463, and the num-ber of views reached 157,926.

PHOTO ARCHIVE

� e UL photo archive in 2014 was enlarged by approximately 8900 photographs, of which around 7600 pictures were available at the public photo archive foto.lu.lv. � e total number of photographs exceeds 72,000. Every month the UL public photo archive has 3440 views on average. � e high-de� nition photographs are downloaded/viewed by 59% more often  – from 110,000 times per month in 2013 to 175,000 times per month in 2014. � e photographs are displayed in various UL, press and other printed editions, and Internet portals. Every month, around 4900 search requests are received. � e pictures of FEPA, the Botanical Gardens, FSS, as well as FPM and FH are searched most frequently.

THE UL RADIO NABA (FM 95.8)

In 2014, the UL Radio NABA (www.naba.lv) renewed broadcasting of the UL radio programme in the new frequency FM 95.8 – new programmes on the music, arts and sports were created, in order to transform radio NABA into the national radio channel Latvijas Radio 6, broadcasting 24 hours a day. In 2014, 40  regular programmes were realised by 85 sta� members, of which 45 were UL students or graduates. In terms of the young students’ involvement in the development of radio programmes, the leading positions were retained by FSS, FEM, FEPA and FHP students. At the end of the year the radio celebrated its 12th anniversary with a versatile programme of culture and entertainment. � e number of UL Radio NABA listeners in 2014 had grown to 32 000.

LU STRUKTŪRA STRUCTURE OF THE UL

LU ir vienota pārvalde ar decentralizētu lēmumu pieņemšanas un atbildības sadalījumu, ko nosaka LU Satversme, LU Senāta lēmumi, LU rektora izdoti LU rīkojumi un LU vadības lēmumi. Galvenās LU lēmējinstitūcijas ir Satversmes sapulce, Senāts un LU vadība, kuru veido rektors, prorektori, kanclers, administratīvais direktors un citas LU rektora ieceltas personas. Ierosināt lēmuma pieņemšanu var ikviens LU personāla pārstāvis. Galvenie LU vadības padomdevēji ir Latvijas Dekānu padome, LU Studiju padome un Zinātnes padome, kā arī LU administrācija. Konkrētu uzdevumu izpildei rektors var izveidot dažādas darba grupas, komisijas un projektus.

� e University has a central administration with decentralised division between the decision-making and responsibilities stipulated by the Constitution of the University of Latvia, the decisions of the UL Senate, orders of the Rector of the University and decisions of the UL Leadership. � e main decision-making authorities of the University are the Constitutional Assembly, Senate and the University Leadership, which is comprised of the Rector, Vice Rectors, Chancellor, Administrative Director and other members appointed by the Rector. Each of the UL employees may initiate a decision-making process. � e main advisors of the UL Leadership are the UL Council of Deans, the UL Council of Studies, and the UL Council of Science, as well as the administration of the UL. For implementation of speci� c tasks the Rector may appoint a variety of working groups, commissions and projects.
