1. Network boot (PXE Boot) the computer(s) in the provisioning task. When the

computer(s) are PXE booted, they will automatically start running the

provisioning template. Refer to the computers documentation if you need help withhow to do a Network Boot on the computer.2. Wait for the provisioning task to complete. The computer(s) will reboot at

least 3 times during the provisioning process. Following are screenshots showingvarious stages during the process:

WINPE has successfully loaded and is starting to run the provisioning template. The VBOOT action will always fail if you PXE Boot computers to run the template.

The VBOOT action is used when the template is scheduled to a computer that isrunning the LANDESK agent. The VBOOT action copies WINPE to the computer andreboots it into WINPE to run the template.

Sysprep has completed and it is now starting to process the actions in the SystemConfiguration section of the template. When the LANDesk Provisioning Agent windowcloses, the template is complete.

This will not work for UEFI booted computers. For this method, skip the following

sections in this document: “Add Devices to be provisioned”, “Schedule theprovisioning template and start the task” and “Network boot the computers andwait for the task to complete”.

1. Network boot (PXE Boot) the computer(s) to be imaged. Refer to the computersdocumentation if you need help with how to do a Network Boot on the computer.

Simple IT environments are a thing of the past. IT departments juggle too many

tools from too many vendors while facing pressure to cut costs, reduce risk and

boost productivity. Workers are adding smart phones and tablets to PC or notebook

use, dramatically increasing the number of endpoints and operating systems that

must be managed. Organizations need intelligent, integrated control over diverse

systems and devices.

Customers worldwide use LANDesk® systems lifecycle management, endpoint security

and IT service management (ITSM) solutions to simplify IT complexity and manage

mobility “mayhem;” discover, track and safeguard assets and endpoints; and enable

IT staff to improve service levels—all while reducing costs and requiring less

infrastructure.

An IDC study found that on average, LANDesk customers realized a three-year

return on investment of 698% for their deployed LANDesk® solutions—a nearly

sevenfold return. The average payback period to recover the initial investment

averaged a short 5.1 months.
