ella mia memoria, sono da sempre depositati i fantasmi della inconfondibile identit della Venini. Quando lavoro per questa nobile azienda cerco sempre di collegarmi al mistero degli archetipi che hanno condotto a un cos preciso stile, lungo una cos lunga storia, e cerco di provarne una interpretazione. Mi sembra che il gusto Venini sia frutto di un magico dosaggio creatosi nel tempo, fra alcune tecniche esclusive, alcuni eccezionali artisti inventori di forme, e la scelta di certi colori. Questa tradizione e questi confini sono la magica formula di Venini. L'hortus conclusus Venini fa parte delle meraviglie dell'umanit. Calma e saggezza di un chiaro artigianato, puro e intatto nel tempo, incorruttibile dalla violenza delle mode, un esempio e una testimonianza di perfezione.

he spirits of Veninis unmistakable identity have always been imprinted upon my memory. When I work for this noble company, I always try to connect to the mystery of archetypes that led to such a precise style with such a long history, and I seek to interpret that. I believe that the Venini taste is the fruit of an enchanted mix, created over time, of a few exclusive techniques, a handful of exceptional artists who were inventors of forms, and a predilection for certain colors. This tradition and these boundaries are Veninis magic formula. Its hortus conclusus (enclosed garden) is one of humanitys wonders. It contains the calmness and skill of clear craftsmanship that has remained pure and intact throughout time, incorruptible by the violence of fashion, an example and proof of perfection.

LAZIENDALe OriginiCappellin Venini & C.: cos il nome Venini compare per la prima volta a Murano. E il 1921 quando due personaggi straordinari entrano nel mondo delle vetrerie muranesi. Sono lantiquario veneziano Giacomo Cappellin e Paolo VENINI, un avvocato milanese con una lontana tradizione familiare nella lavorazione del vetro. Sotto la direzione artistica del pittore Vittorio Zecchin, la Cappellin Venini & C. pone le basi di quellidentit stilistica che ancora oggi la contraddistingue: evasione dagli schemi tradizionali, apertura verso le avanguardie artistiche, padronanza delle tecniche di lavorazione, grazie allapporto dei migliori maestri vetrai dellisola.Negli anni successivi la societ espone con successo presso mostre ed esposizioni di arti decorative, in Italia e allestero. Nel 1925, dalla separazione di Paolo Venini da Giacomo Cappellin, nasce la V.S.M. Venini & C. che, sotto la direzione artistica dello scultore Napoleone Martinuzzi, gran conoscitore del vetro darte, introduce e sperimenta nuove idee e nuove tecniche.A partire dal 1932 Paolo Venini assume un ruolo sempre pi importante nella direzione artistica dellazienda. Stringe innovative collaborazioni con artisti, architetti e designer dellepoca come Tomaso Buzzi, Carlo Scarpa, Lancia, Pulitzer e, nel dopoguerra, Gio Ponti e Fulvio Bianconi. Accanto alloriginale produzione artistica nascono nuove categorie merceologiche: i famosi lampadari, spesso destinati a grandi opere pubbliche e private.

La CrescitaNel 1959, con la scomparsa dellavvocato Paolo Venini, la direzione dellazienda passa allarchitetto Ludovico Diaz de Santillana, che riprende lo spirito di ricerca del fondatore. Un tratto caratterizzante della storia aziendale la collaborazione con protagonisti del mondo dellarte e del design, fatto innovativo per la storia del vetro di Murano. Ci porta un elevato livello di sperimentazione non solo nello stile dei prodotti, ma anche nellapplicazione delle diverse tecniche produttive. Nel 1985 la Venini viene rilevata dalle famiglie Gardini e Ferruzzi. Venini riprende con nuovo vigore la collaborazione con gli artisti e gli architetti contemporanei.A partire da gennaio 1998 la Societ Venini S.p.A. viene acquistata dal gruppo Royal Scandinavia, che gi detiene altri marchi prestigiosi quali : Royal Copenhagen, Georg Jensen, Orrefors - Kosta Boda e Boda Nova.Nel dicembre 2001 Venini entra a far parte del gruppo Italian Luxury Industries, societ che fa capo agli imprenditori Giancarlo e Gabriella Chimento, Giuliano e Guglielmo Tabacchi. La nuova propriet riprende lideale testimone dellidentit aziendale, costituito da progettualit, innovazione, sperimentazione, ricerca e passione.

THE COMPANYThe originsCappellin Venini & C.: thats the original starting name. We are in 1921 when two extraordinary persons enter the glass-factory world in Murano. They are the Venetian antiquarian (antiques dealer) Giacomo Cappelin and Paolo VENINI, a Milanese lawyer with an old family tradition in glass. Under the artistic direction of the painter Vittorio Zecchin, Cappellin Venini & C. lays the foundations of that identity style that still distinguish it: evade the traditional patterns, opening to the avan-garde art, mastery in techniques due to the best glass-masters of the island.In the following years, the company exhibited with success in many decorative art exhibitions in Italy and abroad. In 1925 it broke up and a new company was founded: VSM Venini & C; that, under the artistic direction of Napoleone Martinuzzi, with a great knowledge of glass art, that introduced and tested new ideas and new techniques.Since 1932 Paolo Venini plays an increasingly importance in the artistic direction and forges important collaborations artists, architecs and designers as Tomaso Buzzi, Carlo Scarpa, Lancia, Pulitzer, and after the second World War, with Gio Ponti and Fulvio Bianconi.Original artistic production alongside new categories of products such as the famous chandelier, often set in public and private locations.

The growthIn 1959, after the death of the lawyer Paolo Venini, the direction of the Company goes to the architect Ludovico Diaz de Santillana, who reflected the spirit of innovation and research of its founder.A feature of companys history is the collaboration with the protagonists of art and design world, initially unconnected to the art of glass. Il lampadario a bracci lelemento darredo che pi nel tempo ha avuto una forte connotazione storica.Il loro brillare, le loro trasparenze, le decorazioni hanno trovato nel vetro di Murano e nelle sue lavorazioni un partner insostituibile.VENINI fin dalla sua nascita non stata immune da questo fascino. Dai primi disegni di Vittorio Zecchin, Napoleone Martinuzzi a Carlo Scarpa, per poi proseguire con Gio Ponti. Nulla di superfluo, nessuna decorazione effimera o sovrapposizione di paste in diversi colori. Solo il vetro e la luce.

The classical chandelier with arms is one of the furniture elements that, in times, most had a strong historical connotation.Their brilliance, transparences and decorations, found in the manufacturing of Murano Glass an irreplaceable partner.Since its establishment VENINI hasnt been immune from this charm. The first drawings were by Vittorio Zecchin, Napoleone Martinuzzi and Carlo Scarpa, then continued by Gio Ponti. Nothing superfluous, no ephemeral decorations or overlapping of vitreous masses in different colours.Just glass and light.

A luminous lighting system that employs the Canna Rigadin in hand-made blown glass. The light source which is hidden inside the metal structure, sends the light upwards. In this way the glass is enlightened and light can be diffused also downwards through an opalescent disc.

Il felice incontro fra lartigianalit italiana e la creativit dei Fratelli Campana, ha portato alla crezione di opere uniche assemblando in modo singolare frammenti di vasi e pezzi storici della fornace muranese. Progettare seguendo i principi della sostenibilit limperativo dei designer brasiliani. Essi si pongono con una particolare attenzione al recupero e al riutilizzo di prodotti preesistenti dando loro nuova vita.

The successfull match between the italian high mastery and the fertile creativity of the Campana brothers, who assembled in a unique way, with their recognizing talent, some fragments of historical pieces blown in the furnace of Venini, in order to create some unique works.To design following tenability principles is the main feature of the brazilian brothers, who give particular focus on recycling and re-using existing products, giving them a new life.

THE DOLLS ESPERANAThe Esperana dolls represent a form of positive folk art, realized in the countryside of the Brazilian region of Paraiba. La collezione prende il nome dalla storica sex symbol Mae West e si riferisce alla installazione di Dal riguardante la stessa.Le sei lampade combinano la creazione di un trompe loeil tridimensionale, che si completa con le tipiche icone utilizzate da Studio Job come il portacandele, la caffettiera e il vaso, accompagnate da nuove surreali forme quali una testa, un cappello e ovviamente lo squisito seno femminile che abbellisce anche la Job Lounge al Groninger Museum in Olanda. Una scena ottimista e coloratissima!

MAE WESTStudio Job has designed a group of light fixtures for Venini. The collection is named after prehistoric sex symbol Mae West and refers to Dalis famous installation of the same name. The six lamps combined to create a three dimensional trompe loeil complete with typical Studio Job icons such as the candleholder, coffee pot, and vase, supplemented with new, somewhat surreal shapes, such as a head, a hat, and of course, the exquisite female breast that also adorns the Job Lounge of the Groninger Museum. A colorful and upbeat scene!
