The idea with Mingus has been to create a simple, technologically uncomplicated pendant that shields modern low-energy light bulbs, provides good lighting and can be used for many purposes. Mingus is manufactured in aluminium and lacquered in six matt nuances. In addition to pure white, there are five other tones: blue-black, neutral grey, dusty moss green, a light green tone resembling celadon glazen and an off-white nuance a bit reminiscent of limestone. The tones change in different light and take on the colour of their surroundings. If several lamps in different nuances are installed, they interact with each other, eventually producing new tones. The form is organic even if it originates in four straight facets. The lamp’s top is flat and fitted with an acrylic fixture that allows light to seep out. The bright ring therefore sheds some faint light on the cord.

Bulb Fiction is close to the classic incandescent bulb, but the shape has been upscaled and designed as a whole unit, uniting socket and bulb into one iconic shape. The same applies to the cord, which has

been given extra volume using a thick white silicone cover.

Bulb Fiction consists of a hand-blown acid treated opal glass shade and an aluminium suspension with a soft, organic shape. The fixture

creates the allusion of a classic incandescent bulb, hides the low energy light source and ensures a comfortable, soft light.

Bulb Fiction works beautifully as a single lamp, but it also looks fantastic when hung in a cluster, in a straight line or in staggered

formations. The lamp makes it possible to play with the design by means of tying knots in the cord or by gathering several lamps

together to form a modern chandelier.

“Introduced in 2005 and instantly singled out as a future classic”

The Caravaggio range of high-gloss pendants has become known and loved for its distinctive and dramatic figure.

The distinctive red cord and the polished surface clearly highlight one of the most striking pendant designs of the 2000s.

The shade is made of drawn steel/aluminum and coated with smooth, high-gloss paint. The suspension technology is

masculine in construction, creating the right counterbalance to the shade’s feminine lines. The depth of the shade prevents glare. Caravaggio also features an opening at the top, which casts light

upwards and illuminates both the suspension and cord.

The completely matt finish adds a rare depth and tangibility to the well-known and elegant Caravaggio design, imbuing it with a warm, cosy feel. Cecilie Manz’s love of grey tones is clearly expressed in the choice of colours. The delicate whites and greys are finely balanced and interact neatly with each other if you choose to mix the pendants in your interior design solution. The grey tones, which are named after the numbers in the NCS colour scale, are timeless and suit more-or-less all settings. With its modest and unpretentious appearance, the Caravaggio Matt model is a natural extension of the Caravaggio range.

Caravaggio OpalWith Caravaggio Opal it is possible to combine the characteristic design with a completely different lighting effect. The Opal glass shade gives out a soft, dimmed light which is particularly suited for rooms where a more evocative lighting is required. The lamp is suspended by the three well-known shackles which here form a raw and masculine contrast to the feminine opal glass. And again the cord is a part of the whole expression of the lamp, as it has been wrapped in silver textile material in order to bring a nuance of light and shade into the white look.

CALABASH P1 GOLD

Calabash is authentic craftsmanship from the core to the surface. The organic design idiom and the special chromed and slightly

changeable surface provide Calabash with a unique expression. The three pendant sizes – dia. 158, 224 and 340 mm – present the

same easily recognisable shape, although without being identical.

The black, closely woven textile cord creates a neat contrast to the lively chromed surface, which is available in black, silver, gold

and red. The Calabash pendant generates a warm atmosphere and looks excellent in small groups. The pendants are ideal for café

environments, restaurants, shops, etc. and in private homes whose owners wish to make a spectacular and rewarding

Juicy is designed with the ambition of creating the optimum, energy-friendly pendant for the dining table, which provides the table with concentrated, non-dazzling light. The various parts of the lamp; the cord, cone and shade come together seamlessly which makes the pendant seem like an organic whole. Towards the bottom Juicy is finished off with a honey combfilter, which effectively concentrates the light while preventing dazzling at the same time. It softens the light and contributes to the experience of a warm and friendly light – regardless of whether you use traditional low-energy light sources or the latest LED alternatives.

A clear and unambiguous design

identity and thorough attention

to materials are the hallmarks of

architect Knud Holscher. Nature’s

own themes shine through Knud

Holscher’s designs for Lightyears.

He has taken inspiration from the

simple and harmonious forms

of nature, and the realisation

that nothing is superfluous, or

created solely for the sake of

appearance. According to him,

beautiful scenes in nature are

the result of complex conditions.

Regardless of the project, Knud

Holscher’s goal is to direct design

at the private user, while keeping

in mind the product’s use in

public spaces.

MADS ODGÅRDBORN 1960 DENMARK

DESIGN DIAMOND

Mads Odgård is a designer

who seeks the universal. And

according to him the way to the

universal goes via simplification.

When we simplify, we move

towards the functional nucleus

of the product where all cultural

and taste-related layers are

peeled away - or at least reduced

to a minimum. Thus cleansed

of all superfluity, the product

appears pure, simple and

logical. But accommodating

nevertheless, because the

functional identity of the product

reveals itself to you, no matter

who you are.

MORTEN VOSSBORN 1964 DENMARK

DESIGN ATOMHEART

The autodidact designer,

Morten Voss, is one of the finest

exponents of the new generation

of Danish designers. The ability

to combine forms and materials

in an original and challenging

design is his trademark. Despite

his starting point in the Danish,

functional design inheritance he

has no problem in going his own

way or breaking conventions.

In developing his designs for

JØRN UTZON1918-2008 DENMARK

DESIGN CONCERT

Creating things for people. This

was the primal theme of probably

Denmark’s most famous architect

of all time: Jørn Utzon. He saw a

clear parallel between music and

light. Both are crucial for feeling

emotions. In developing his designs

for Lightyears, he worked to ensure

that light constantly promotes the

atmosphere of a room, whether it

is used for cosy togetherness, for

a particular function or for sheer

inspiration. The designs of his lamp

for Lightyears draw a golden thread

from the Sydney Opera House. It

completes the picture of Jørn Utzon

as a lamp designer and architect of

highest international stature.

The source of Hidenori Kuge’s

designs is everything. Nothing

less. The Japanese designer

Hidenori Kuge graduated from

Hidenori Kuge has specialised

in the design of lighting.

He began his career at the

renowned Shoici Uchiyama

When the lamp is lit, the design of the shade forms contrasts which enhance the impression created by the shape of the glass, where no two angles are alike, but change all the way round. Hence, the lamp appears as a complex and distinctive light source with a life of its own. Equipped with a support wire to stabilize the glass.

BRANCUSI

The Brancusi pendant meets a wide range of technical challenges in a pure, relaxed and rounded form. Brancusi is designed to illuminate rooms with a high ceiling using a large, integrated aluminium reflector. The lamp is available in two versions: The version with the E27 socket is recommended when a soft ambience is required. The G12 socket and metal-halogen light source is recommended for environments in which a high level of light and lower energy consumption is needed. The silk-printed white circles on the glass soften the light emitted, helping to create the unique impression.

Concert gives a pleasant, non-glaring light without compromising the strength of illumination. The chosen shade configuration is visually characteristic of Jørn Utzon and reminds us of his greatest work. Concert is built up of four shades and a parabola of drawn steel, which is mounted on a glass suspension. The suspension unit sends out a pleasant, even light between the shades. At the same time, it illuminates the two upward shades and part of the cord. The bottom shade casts light downward to the parabola, which then diffuses it. The parabola not only softens the light, but prevents glare – regardless of the height of the lamp.

The hand-blown, triple-layered opal Helium glass shade works very gently with the light and sends down a diffuse, warm light where needed, while the surroundings are illuminated by a pleasant room lighting full of atmosphere. The shade is mounted on a silicone ring on top of the armature housing. It protects the glass and balances it. The suspension of the pendant also has a stabilizing effect, as the support wire can be adjusted separately.

Pallas is a contemporary large room pendant with a unique character inspired by historic chandeliers. With its substantial size, Pallas is made to illuminate grand architectural projects like lobbies, airports, theaters and museums. The vertical lasercut slits in the shade creates openings for the light and creates a sophisticated interplay of light and shadow. Another positive contribution is the decorative effect of light and shadow Pallas casts upon walls and ceiling. Pallas has a remarkable airiness created by the light openings of the pendant. Pallas is manufactured of lasercut sheet metal lacquered with a smooth, high-gloss paint finish. Pallas is, manufactured in Denmark, and delivered four weeks after order.

Both the Caravaggio table lamp and floor lamp are made of metal with a lacquer finish. The characteristic shade is high-gloss lacquered, while the foot and standard have been given a dull lacquer finish. A flexible tube, which is hidden by the shade, has been mounted on the standard which makes it possible to tilt the shade, and with it the light cone, up to 40 degrees. This function makes the lamps more flexible and functional as light sources. At the same time an exciting asymmetrical look can be achieved when the shade is tilted. The charming little string close to the light functions as a switch. The Caravaggio table lamp is available in two versions – either on a base, or for plugging in.

The fundamental geometric forms – the circle and the triangle – are key elements in the design of the Radon series. The light from Radon is direct and adjustable. The shade is multi-directional and furnished with an asymmetrical reflector, ensuring that light spreads out precisely to the surface where it is needed. The switch is placed at the top of the lamp, while the cord leads discreetly out of the back leg to help preserve the lamp’s clean lines.

Minimalist design was the driving force for Cecilie Manz in her development of the lamp series, Mondrian. Mondrian appears as a line in the air, and break the conventional assumption of how a lamp should look. The translucent ring in moulded acrylic insulates the heat from the outermost section of the lamp head. The ring lights up when the lamp is on, and indicates how to adjust the light. Mondrian’s light can be directed 180 degrees horizontally and 335 degrees vertically.

Adjustable lighting is central to the design and construction of Takeru. The idea was to design a series of lamps with flexible adjustment of light to the illuminated surface. Thus, Takeru is created around a pointed light source and a reflector that ensures maximum illumination. Takeru’s base is die-cast, which gives the slender lamp extra ballast. The armature consists of a shade, a handle, a ball joint and two bushings. The specially-designed bushings allow smooth and flexible adjustment of the light. A reflector is also mounted in the shade that directs and diffuses the light.

Diamond wall needs no maintenance at any time during the lifetime of the lamp. The light diodes burn for 50,000 hours which, with a normal utility pattern, gives Diamond a life span of 15 to 20 years. Diamond is an IP 65 wall luminarie which utilizes all the best properties of the LED light source. Diamond is built up around equilateral aluminium cross mounted on a square frame which is also made of aluminium. In each of the four squares formed by the cross is a 1,1 W light diode behind a diffuser of shock-resistant polycarbonate. A built-in lattice directs the light downwards and thus ensures pleasant lighting with a minimum of glare.

Thanks to the low energy consumption of only 8,7 W it’s an ideal economical and environmental solution.

INSTALLATION Bollard: The luminaire consists of three parts: Fixture head, base and spike. The base is to be fastened to an adjustable installation hardware, which is to be fastened to the spike. The Primula series is based on effective, nonglaring illumination that optimises the light from its source. Primula does this through a combination of optical elements that also utilises stray light. The basis component is a symmetrical reflector that transmits light from the source directly to the top reflector, which ensures an effective distribution. The other optical element is white reflecting rings which utilise the light that does not hit the reflector. The stray light is collected and used by the white rings without affecting the post’s efficiency. In addition, a third optical element is included in the post top. Two bottom reflectors send a minor luminous flux through the bottom of the armature housing and illuminate the pole and its base. Primula is available in two basic models: one with a low voltage lamp for consumers and one with a metal halide lamp for professionals.

HL provides a diffuse light. The HL lamp is constructed warm-galvanized steel, untreated copper and clear/opal acryl. In time the untreated copper shade gain the characteristic dark look and eventually it gains the classic verdigris colour. Thus the lamp grows more beautiful year after year.
