PRICE GUIDE FOR PORTRAITS
9” X 12” - $125
12” X 15” - $240 15” X 20” - $360 20” X 30” - $700
All portraits in
watercolour or ink
are presented in an acid-free mat and acrylics
are created on professionally stretched canvas.
This is only a
guide. Ask about
special sizes or
projects. I’ve done
everything from
miniatures to de-
signs for cards to
a wall mural 6
feet by 20 feet. I
love a challenge!
I can work from
your photographs (which you can send as an
Pen & Ink
Watercolour
email attachment) or come and take photos
and sketches if you live within a reasonable
distance.
Although it
takes more
time to
personally
meet the
subject of my
artwork, it is
well spent
because I get
a more
accurate un-
derstanding of personality and can reveal
that in the portrait.
Payment for commissions is due after the work
is approved.

Annual Spring Show
2010
May 15, 16, 22, 23, 24
For 2 consecutive weekends, May 15, 16 and 22, 23, 24, Linda McLaren
welcomes visitors to Cliff Swallow Studio at her farm in Amaranth
Township. This is the fifth opportunity to view and buy her artwork in
the rural setting that inspires it.
This year, her continuing love of nature and rural life will be depicted
almost entirely in black and white, the simplified search for meaning
through shapes, textures and composition. The usual media of pen and
pencil will be extended with works in acrylic, watercolour, scratchboard
– all in shades of gray!
The studio will be open each day from 9am to 6pm. Free draw, door
prizes, refreshments, nature trails. Just follow the map on the back page.

Headwaters Sketchbook
Since 1996, I have been a regular contributor to the popular quarterly
magazine “In the Hills”. The page, entitled “Headwaters Sketchbook”,
combines art and nature with quick, spontaneous sketches and more
detailed „arty‟ sections originating in the parks, trails and conservation
areas of Headwaters country. Prints of some of the columns can be
purchased from Cliff Swallow Studio.

Thank you for visiting
HEADWATERS COUNTRY has been my home for over 40
years and I’m still exploring and learning about the
plants and animals-even the rocks—that share this place.
Just as migrating birds return, if they can, to the very
same woodlot, year after year, a sense of location is im-
portant to humans. The subjects of my drawings, however,
are familiar things that can be in many North American
spots from public parks to quiet country lanes to city ra-
vines.
Stop and watch and listen for a while to these other in-
habitants of the earth. Just like you, they have appoint-
ments to keep, family relationships to maintain—but
their calendar is internal, triggered by wind and rain
and the slant of the sun.
