Jan Ketil Arnulf is an associate professor at BI Norwegian Business School and the associate dean of the BI-Fudan MBA program, where he has been teaching since 2006.

Dr. Arnulf’s key teaching and research interest is in leadership, global leadership and leadership development. His research on management team has been awarded a prize, and he is on the editorial board of the scientific journal The Leadership Quarterly.

Dr. Arnulf has extensive practical experience as a consultant to companies in both private business and public administration, and has taught at several universities, repeatedly receiving awards as “best faculty”.

Dr. Arnulf received his Bachelors degree from Freie Universität Berlin, Germany and has a PhD in Psychology from the University of Oslo.

Martin BinksDean and Professor of Entrepreneurial Development, Nottingham University Business School

Martin Binks is the Dean and Professor of Entrepreneurial Development at Nottingham University Business School. He is also the Chairman of the Haydn Green Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

His research interests include areas such as radical innovation thinking; finance for small and medium enterprises (SMEs); banks and their relationship with SMEs; entrepreneurial skills development, entrepreneurship education, knowledge and technology transfer and regional economic development including the establishment of electronic on-line surveys.

Prof Binks is the Associate Editor of Technology Analysis and Strategic Management. He is also the co-developer of Ingenuity – A Guide for Clear Thinking and co-author of the book Ingenuity published by the Haydn Green Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (2013). He is also co-developer of the forthcoming radical innovation web facility, “Ingenuity Online”.

In addition, Prof Binks has designed and delivered high level programs including “Creative Problem Solving and Effective Decision Making”, “Pre-Concept Innovation Strategies” and “Innovation from Theory to Practice.” He also has long and established experience working with organizations in the private and public sector of all sizes from groups of SMEs to government ministries and the Bank of England.

He has a BA from Durham University and a PhD from Nottingham University.

Eric ChangDean, Quoin Professor in Finance and Chair Professor of Finance, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Hong Kong

Eric Chang is currently the Dean, Quoin Professor in Finance and Chair Professor of Finance at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Hong Kong. He was the founding director of the Centre of Financial Innovation and Risk Management of the Faculty.

He began his academic career at the University of Iowa, moved to the University of Maryland in 1986 and became a full professor in 1994. He joined the DuPree College of Management of Georgia Institute of Technology as Invesco Endowed Chair Professor of International Finance in 1995 and then The University of Hong Kong as Chair of Finance in 1998.

Professor Chang’s research is in international finance, capital asset pricing, derivative securities, risk management, behavior finance, and mutual fund management. He has published articles in many leading finance journals and his work is recognized by many scholarly honors and awards. Professor Chang also serves on the editorial boards of several top academic journals. In 2009, he was ranked among the top 100 most frequently appearing authors worldwide in seven leading finance journals over the period of 1959-2008.

Originally trained as a civil engineer, Professor Chang received his B.S. degree from National Cheng Kung University and his PhD in finance from Purdue University.

Rabikar ChatterjeeAssociate Dean for Masters and Executive Programs, Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburg

Rabikar Chatterjee is the Associate Dean for Masters and Executive Programs and the Gulf Oil Foundation Professor of Business at the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business.

He has served on the faculties of the University of Michigan’s Business School and Purdue University’s Krannert Graduate School of Management. He has also been a visiting professor at various universities in Australia, India, and Korea. Prior to his career in academia, he had eight years of industry experience in engineering, project management, sales management, marketing, and strategic planning positions.

Dr. Chatterjee’s research, teaching, and consulting interests lie in the area of customer-focused development and management of products and services, particularly those with a technology orientation. His research has focused on models of market response to new products, with applications in forecasting, product design, and pricing. His articles have appeared in journals such as Management Science, the Journal of Marketing Research, and Psychometrika. He has served as an associate editor in the marketing department of Management Science and a member of the Editorial Board of Marketing Science. He has received numerous awards for his teaching and research, and consulted with or conducted executive workshops in such companies as Alcoa, DBT, Fiserve, PNC Bank, US West (now Qwest), and Westinghouse.

He earned his PhD in marketing at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Shekhar ChaudhuriDirector, School of Management and Entrepreneurship, Shiv Nadar University

Shekhar Chaudhuri is the Director of the School of Management and Entrepreneurship at Shiv Nadar University (SNU) in India.

Prof Chauduri began his academic career in 1981 when he joined I.I.M. Ahmedabad as an Assistant Professor in Business Policy. In 2002, he joined I.I.M. Calcutta as its Director and led a major transformation process. Professor Chaudhuri has also held faculty and administrative positions in several institutions of higher learning in the US and Europe in his long career.

Professor Chaudhuri’s teaching and research interests are in the areas of strategic management, management of technology and innovation and international management. He has also published a number of research based papers in national and international journals. He co-authored a book titled Entry Strategies and Growth in Foreign Markets published by Oxford University Press. He has also received several awards including the “Bharat Asmita Acharya Shrestha Award 2009” in the field of management education which was conferred by H.E. Vice-President of India.

He has been a consultant to several organizations both in the private and public sectors, including the World Bank. He also sits on the boards and governing councils of several organizations in India.

Prof Chaudhuri obtained his B.Tech (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering from I.I.T. Kharagpur and his PhD in Management from I.I.M. Ahmedabad.

Chen Ya-RuAcademic Dean of China Initiatives and Programs, Johnson Graduate School of Business, Cornell University

Chen Ya-Ru is the Nicholas H. Noyes Professor of Management and Global Business at the Johnson School of Management of Cornell University. Professor Chen co-founded the Emerging Markets Institute and currently serves as Academic Dean of China Initiatives and Programs at the Johnson School.

Prior to joining the Johnson School, she has taught at Columbia Business School, Stern School of Business at New York University and Rutgers Business School. The courses she has taught over the years include Global Manager and Negotiator, Global Leadership, Cross-cultural Management, and Managing and Leading Organizations.

Professor Chen is well known for her research regarding cross-cultural differences and similarities in intergroup relations, and team dynamics. Her recent work examines how employees obtain, maintain, and utilize status and power in their different cultural environments. She also looks at how status and power differential influences business interactions across cultures.

Her publications appear in leading academic journals. Her works have received the Organizational Behavior Best Paper Award from the Academy of Management in 2002, the Best Micro Paper Award from the International Association of Chinese Management Research in 2008, the Johnson Faculty Research Award in 2011, and the National Thousand Talent Award in Management in 2014.

Professor Chen holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from Columbia University.

ABOUT THE PARTICIPATING DEANS

Chen YongDean, College of Economics, Shenzhen University

Chen Yong is the Dean of the College of Economics in Shenzhen University. He joined the university in 1988.

Prof Chen’s current research focus is on outward Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of Chinese firms. He has published 31 papers in important Chinese and foreign journals; undertook 22 academic and consulting projects from different levels of government and businesses in China and edited two books.

He obtained his B.A. (Economics) from The Shanghai University of Trade and Economics in 1985, his MA (Economics) from Fudan University in 1988 and his PhD in Economics from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences in 2005.

Alison Davis-BlakeEdward J. Frey Dean and Stephen M. Ross Professor of Business, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan

Alison Davis-Blake joined the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan on 1 July 2011. She is currently the Edward J. Frey Dean and Stephen M. Ross Professor of Business.

From 2006 to 2011, she was the first female dean of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. While at Carlson, Prof Davis-Blake also held the Investors in Leadership Distinguished Chair in Organizational Behavior. Prior to that, Prof Davis-Blake served on the faculty of the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas (Austin) from 1990 to 2006, and held various administrative positions.

From 1986 to 1990, Prof Davis-Blake served as assistant professor of industrial administration at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to her career in academia, she worked as an auditor at Touche Ross and Co. in New York.

Prof Davies-Blake is an expert on outsourcing; the use of temporary and contract workers, and the effective management of organizational hiring, salary, and promotion systems. She teaches organizational behavior, fundamentals of management, strategic human resource management, and managing human capital.

She has held editorial positions with the Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, and Journal of Management. She recently concluded her service as a board member of the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the premiere accrediting body for business schools worldwide.

Prof Davis-Blake earned her PhD in organizational behavior from Stanford University in 1986 and her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Brigham Young University.

Sarah DixonDean, International Business School Suzhou, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University

Sarah Dixon has been Dean of International Business School Suzhou since January 2013.

Prof Dixon has both a business and academic background. Her academic career started in 2002 at the Faculty of Business and Law, Kingston University where she became Director of Postgraduate Programs. In 2008 she moved to the School of Management, University of Bath and had a role as Director of MSc Programs. From 2010-2012, she worked as Dean of Bradford University School of Management, which gained triple crown accreditation under her leadership.

Prior to her move into academia, she had 23 years’ international management experience working for Shell International in a variety of roles including business management in expatriate postings in Austria and Russia, strategic planning and mergers & acquisitions. Consultancy activities include investment analysis, strategy development and implementation, and management development for major companies in the UK and Russia.

Prof Dixon’s research interests lie in the strategic management of large international corporations, more specifically dynamic capabilities, management innovation and organizational change. She has conducted research into radical organizational transformation in a transition economy (Russia) and she is currently engaged in studying the dynamic capabilities of Western high tech multinationals facing radical change.

Kiran FernandesProfessor of Operations Management and Head, Department of Management, Durham University Business School

Kiran Fernandes is the Chair of the Operations Management Group and a Fellow of the Wolfson Research Institute, Durham University. He is also a Fellow of the interdisciplinary York Centre for Complex Systems Analysis (YCCSA). Prior to his current role, Professor Fernandes worked as the Pro-Dean for Research and Head of the Operations Management Group at The University of York. He started his academic career as an EPSRC Senior Research Fellow at the University of Warwick. He worked as a sub-systems engineer at the NASA - John C. Stennis Space Centre.

Professor Fernandes works with UK and International companies on modelling complex business domains ranging from operational processes to strategic decisions. Using a complex systems lens he has worked with construction, pharmaceutical, biotech and digital firms. His research has been funded by prestigious and competitive funding bodies.

He has published widely in the area of operations management and sits on the editorial board of a number of top journals in the area. Professor Fernandes is a Chartered Engineer and advises a number of companies both nationally and internationally.

He holds a PhD in Operations Management and Systems from the University of Warwick; a Masters (MS) from the James Worth Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU) and a Bachelors of Engineering (Hons) degree in Production from Waltech.

Ge JianxinAssociate Dean, School of Business, Central University of Finance and Economics, Beijing

Ge Jianxin is a Professor in Management and an Associate Dean of the School of Business, Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), Beijing. She was appointed Associate Dean in 2007 and is responsible for international affairs and undergraduate programs.

She joined CUFE after her Ph.D in 2000. In 2002, she studied in Berlin sponsored by the DSE foundation. In 2005, she was a visiting professor at the Institute of Manufacturing (IfM) at Cambridge University, UK.

Frøystein Gjesdal Rector, NHH Norwegian School of Economics

Frøystein Gjesdal is Rector of NHH Norwegian School of Economics and a professor at the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law. He has previously held a number of positions at NHH, including head of the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law, and member of the NHH Board.

Prof Gjesdal’s research and teaching is within incentive theory and accounting. He has made internationally recognized contributions in the field of principal-agent theory and significant contributions to theoretical clarification and practical applications in the area of profitability measurement and valuation. Prof Gjesdal has also been actively involved in financial regulation and control. He has had significant international involvement, and was for several years a member of the Standing Scientific Committee, European Accounting Association and the Accounting and Auditing Practices Committee of the International Corporate Governance Network on behalf of Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global.

He has also been of great importance to the development of Managerial Economics as a field of research and teaching in Norway, and has helped to give the subject a practical foundation through his contacts with the accounting and auditing profession and Norwegian regulatory authorities. Prof Gjesdal has been key to teaching in the accounting area on several levels at NHH for many years.

He received an MBA from NHH in 1971 and completed his PhD at Stanford University in 1979.

Prof Hai is the Founding Dean and a Professor of Economics at the China Centre for Economic Research and the Peking University HSBC Business School. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Peking University Council. He was previously Vice-President of Peking University.

He lectured at various universities in California and became a leading contributor to the study of China’s economy in the USA, where he served as president of the China Economists Society in 1993. His main areas of research are in the fields of International Economics, Development Economics and Chinese economic development. Prof Hai is also the author and translator of several books, including: International Trade—Theory, Policy, and Empirical Issues (1993), International Economics: Theory and Policy (Translation,1998, 2002, 2005), International Trade (2003), In Defence of Globalization (2008). He has received many honours and awards for his teaching and research.

Professor Hai is also a part-time researcher at, among others, the Research Institute of the Ministry of Commerce and the Research Institute of the National Reform Commission. Michael T. S. Lee Dean, College of Management, Fu Jen Catholic University, Taipei

Michael T.S. Lee is Professor and Dean of the College of Management at Fu Jen Catholic University (FJU), Taipei. He is also the past President of the International Association of Jesuit Business Schools (IAJBS). He was elected as the Dean in 2009 and is the first alumnus of FJU serving as the Dean of the College.

His current efforts focus on broadening the impact of FJU in the Greater China and Asia Pacific Region. Dr. Lee is very active in several academic societies such as the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), (IAJBS) and Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia (ACUCA). He has been the peer review team (PRT) member for many AACSB accreditation visits and constantly mentoring schools in achieving AACSB accreditation. He is also the only facilitator of AACSB business accreditation seminar in the Greater China Region and has been sitting on the initial accreditation committee (IAC) of AACSB since 2012.

He has published more than 60 articles in various journals and several book chapters. He is currently the Chief Editor of Journal of Data Science and has also served on the editorial board for several international renowned journals.

Stefanie LenwayDean, Opus Business School, University of St Thomas

Stefanie Lenway has been the Dean of Opus Business School, University of St Thomas since 1 Aug 2014. She is a worldwide leader in competitive strategy for business education with a proven track record in driving organizational change and strategy implementation based on a robust competitive strategy. In each of her leadership roles as dean of the business school in University of Illinois at Chicago, Michigan State University,and now University of St Thomas, she brings strategic focus, financial discipline, and administrative efficiencies in support of the academic mission thereby freeing up resources for teaching and research.

As a Professor of Corporate Strategy and International Business, Prof Lenway brings 30 years of research in the politics of international trade policy, multinational competitive strategy, and global technology innovation. She co-founded the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation flat panel display research team in 1994 and designed the research protocols for a ten year study of the evolution of the global liquid crystal display (LCD) industry from small screens for watches and calculators to the commercialization of the 42” LCD TV in 2004. She also co-authored the book Managing New Industry Creation by Stanford University Press. This research provides insights into the competitive dynamics of strategic alliances for operational growth, the strategic importance of innovation in the global supply chain, and the need for global knowledge creation in the development and commercialization of new technologies.

Professor Lenway is also active in AACSB as a peer review team member, a mentor and a member of the Board of Directors.

Lu YuanDean, Shantou University Business School

Lu Yuan is the Dean of the Business School at Shantou University. Prior to joining Shantou University, he was a Professor of Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

In the early 1990’s, he spent time in the United Kingdom where he was a Rothmans Research Fellow at the Judge Institute of Management Studies, University of Cambridge, and worked as a Research Officer in the ESRC-China Decision-making Project, Department of Management, University of Lancaster, UK.

He received his BSc in Engineering from Beijing University of Technology and his MBA from the China-Europe Management Institute (CEMI) in Beijing. He obtained his PhD in 1993 from the Business School of Aston University in Birmingham, UK.

Mao Ji-yeDean and Professor of Management Information Systems, School of Business, Renmin University of China

Boettner Professorship in Risk Management & Insurance. In addition, he is the former Chairman of the Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science department.

Dr. Porat has authored several monographs and numerous articles on captives and their use in risk management, self-insurance and other financial topics. He is also a Board Member of The Pennsylvania Economy League and Mastery High Charter School. Bruno van Pottelsberghe Dean, Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management

Bruno van Pottelsberghe is the Dean of the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (SBS-EM), at Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). He is also a full professor and, as holder of the Solvay S.A. Chair of Innovation, he teaches courses on the economics and management of innovation and intellectual property.

Prof van Pottelsbeghe is also advisor to the President and Rector of ULB for technology transfer issues since 2004 and is non-resident Research Fellow at Bruegel, a Brussels-based think-tank, since 2007. He was Chief Economist at the European Patent Office (EPO), from 2005 to 2007.

His research focuses on patent systems, the valuation of patents, and on the role of IPRs. His recent articles have been published in well-known scientific journals, including Research Policy, Journal of Public Economics, and Industrial and Corporate Change.

He has a Bachelors’ degree in Economics, a Masters in International Relations and a PhD in Economics from ULB.

Loïck RocheDean and Director, Grenoble École de Management

Loïck Roche was named Director and Dean of Grenoble École de Management (accredited by AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA) in July 2012. Since May 2014, he is also President of the group of French business schools.

He joined Grenoble in 1995 and has held various leading positions such as pedagogical and research director, director of the Doctoral School, associate director and vice-dean (since 2004). Prior to joining Grenoble, he was director of a consulting company in France and Switzerland.

With his research focus on leadership and management, and as a specialist in individual performance and well being, Prof Roche has co-authored over thirty books.

Prof Roche has a MSc in management from Essec Business School; a PhD in Psychology (Paris); PhD in Philosophy (Grenoble); and a post-doctorate degree in management sciences (Lyon). He also completed the Harvard Advanced Management Program.

Michael RoosResearch Dean and Professor, Faculty of Management and Economics, Ruhr-University Bochum

Michael Roos is a full professor of macroeconomics at the Faculty of Management and Economics of the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. Currently, he also serves as the research dean of the faculty.

His main fields of research are behavioral and experimental economics and complexity economics.

Before joining the Ruhr-University Bochum in 2009, Prof Roos was a lecturer in economics at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.

In 2002, Prof Roos received his doctorate at the University of Dortmund, Germany, where he also did his habilitation.

Hellmut SchütteDean and Vice-President, China Europe International Business School

Hellmut Schütte became Dean and Vice-President of China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) after having served as Distinguished Professor of Management and holding the European Chair for Global Governance and Sino-European Business Relations.

Prof Schutte is particularly interested in the competition and cooperation between emerging market corporations and established Western/Japanese multinationals.

He is also Emeritus Professor of International Management at INSEAD which he joined in Fontainebleau, France, in 1981 after a career in the areas of marketing and investment banking. He was visiting professor at the University of Tokyo, visiting professor at Boston University, and visiting scholar at Harvard University. Up to the fall of 2006, Professor Schütte was the Dean of INSEAD’s fast growing Asia Campus located in Singapore.

China is Professor Schütte’s tenth country in which he lives and works. He has taught in seminars in another 40 countries all over the world. He is a well-known speaker in conferences, forums and business meetings and is actively involved in various board and advisory roles and consulting assignments. Among others, he is an Executive Director and Partner of BAF Spectrum, a business angel firm that invests in young enterprises.

He is author of many articles and nine books, among them the best-seller ‘Strategies for Asia Pacific’.

Professor Schütte studied economics and business administration in Germany and obtained his doctorate from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland.

Lars Strannegard President, Stockholm School of Economics

Lars Strannegard is President of the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden. He is also Professor and holder of the Bo Rydin and SCA Chair in Leadership.

His research interests focus on aspects of leadership, aesthetics, branding and organization. Dr Strannegard has carried out research on organizing and management practice in multinational organizations. His work has been published in leading journals like Organization, Journal of Organization Change Management, European Journal of Marketing, Leadership, Annals of Tourism Research and Marketing Theory.

He is also vice-chairman of the Board of the Swedish Arts Council and a member of the jury for the August Prize (nonfiction category), the Scientific Council and Board of Trustees of the Centre for Business and Policy Studies (SNS), the board of the Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (SCANCOR) at Stanford University, the jury for Michael Treschow’s scholarship for design students, and the board of the Ingmar Bergman Estate on Faro Foundation.

He was visiting professor at the University of Tokyo, visiting professor at Boston University, and visiting scholar at Harvard University. Up to the fall of 2006, Professor Schütte was the Dean of INSEAD’s fast growing Asia Campus located in Singapore.

China is Professor Schütte’s tenth country in which he lives and works. He has taught in seminars in another 40 countries all over the world. He is a well-known speaker in conferences, forums and business meetings and is actively involved in various board and advisory roles and consulting assignments. Among others, he is an Executive Director and Partner of BAF Spectrum, a business angel firm that invests in young enterprises.

He is author of many articles and nine books, among them the best-seller ‘Strategies for Asia Pacific’.

Professor Schütte studied economics and business administration in Germany and obtained his doctorate from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland.

Lars Strannegard President, Stockholm School of Economics

Lars Strannegard is President of the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden. He is also Professor and holder of the Bo Rydin and SCA Chair in Leadership.

His research interests focus on aspects of leadership, aesthetics, branding and organization. Dr Strannegard has carried out research on organizing and management practice in multinational organizations. His work has been published in leading journals like Organization, Journal of Organization Change Management, European Journal of Marketing, Leadership, Annals of Tourism Research and Marketing Theory.

He is also vice-chairman of the Board of the Swedish Arts Council and a member of the jury for the August Prize (nonfiction category), the Scientific Council and Board of Trustees of the Centre for Business and Policy Studies (SNS), the board of the Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (SCANCOR) at Stanford University, the jury for Michael Treschow’s scholarship for design students, and the board of the Ingmar Bergman Estate on Faro Foundation.

He has also been a visiting scholar at Stanford University and Professor at Uppsala University.

Chris StylesDean, UNSW Business School, UNSW Australia

Chris Styles became Dean of UNSW Australia Business School on 1 July 2014. Prior to his appointment, he was Deputy Dean, and Director of the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM). Before joining UNSW Business School, he taught at the University of Sydney Business School and UNSW School of Marketing at the Faculty of Economics and Commerce, UNSW.

His research focuses on international marketing and strategy, and in particular issues relating to the internationalization process, international alliances and international entrepreneurship. He has taught Strategic Marketing, Corporate Strategy, Entrepreneurship and International Marketing on undergraduate, postgraduate and executive programs. In addition to his academic activities, Prof Styles has carried out consulting and executive teaching assignments in Asia, Australia and Europe, for various clients. He has been a member of various professional bodies in Australia. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

He has published in a range of leading academic journals, management texts, and government reports. He is also co-author of the book The SILK Road to International Marketing which has been used in Masters programs in Australia, Europe and the US.

Prior to entering academia, Chris worked as a Marketing Manager for Procter & Gamble in Europe and the Middle East and a market consultant with Donovan Research (now TNS) in Perth, Western Australia.

Tan Kok HuiAssociate Dean (Globalisation and International Studies), Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University

Tan Kok Hui is the Associate Dean (Globalisation and International Studies) and Associate Professor of Banking and Finance at Nanyang Business School (NBS), Nanyang Technological University.

Prof Tan has been the Associate Dean for NBS’ China Programs since 2008. He has extensive experience in building scholarly and business networks in China. As the main driver for NBS’ China initiatives (including degree and non-degree programs), he launched many executive training programs targeting Chinese executives, making NBS’ presence in China felt.

Apart from his academic duties, Prof Tan was appointed member of the Singapore Commercial Affairs Department Panel of Experts on Securities Offences from 2004 to 2006, and is an independent director for a listed company in Singapore, and instructor for numerous executive programs.

Joyce TeoDean, UBD School of Business and EconomicsVice-President, Global Affairs, Universiti Brunei Darussalam

Joyce Teo is the Vice-President of Global Affairs at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). She is also currently Dean of UBD School of Business and Economics, as well as Director of the Institute of Policy Studies.

Her main research interests are in applied economics and economics policy. Much of her publications have been on labour economics and her recent research extends to issues pertinent to international trade relations including Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

In UBD, her previous administrative appointments include Coordinator of Brunei APEC Study Centre, Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Research Office, Deputy Director of the Language Centre and Director of the International Office.

Her other professional appointments include Member of APEC HRD Working Group (Capacity Building Network), and also Country Representative for projects such as Asean Economic Community (AEC), East Asia Free Trade Area (EAFTA), Comprehensive Economic Partnership for East Asia (CEPEA) and NEAT (Network of East Asian Think Tanks).

She received her PhD (Economics) from the University of Queensland where she majored in Labour Economics and Econometrics.

Tu Teng-TsaiAssistant Professor, Graduate Institute of International Business, National Taipei UniversityPresident, International Financial Planning Education Association

Tu Teng-Tsai is an Assistant Professor at the Graduate Institute of International Business, National Taipei University where he teaches economics, international competition policy, regional economic integration, international financial theory and the theory of international trade. He is also President of the International Financial Planning Education Association (IFPEA).

His main research interests include pricing models of derivatives, portfolio management, and behavioral finance involving the trading and hedging strategies of investors, international finance and trade.

Dr. Tu played a key role in organizing various forums and conferences to promote international academic exchange and industry-academia co-operation such as the 1st International Financial Planning Conference and CEO Forum in 2007 and the 22nd World Business Congress of the International Management Development Association(IMDA) in 2013.

For the period from 2011 to 2013, he assisted in the establishment of the “Cross-Strait Financial Academics Platform” via the “Central Taiwan Financial Academic Federation and Financial Market Development Research Forum.” This platform provided opportunities for academic exchanges, industry-university alliance, cultural, economic, and social exchanges.

He received his Ph.D. degree in Economics from the Iowa State University in 1998.

Wang QingshiDean, School of International Business, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics

Wang Qingshi is currently the Dean of the School of International Business, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics.

He is also a Professor of Quantitative Economics and teaches business statistics, portfolio theory and risk management and econometrical analysis for stock markets.

His research interests are in statistical and econometric analysis of the economy and financial markets and the internationalization of higher education.

Prof Wang was a visiting professor at the School of Management, the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1999.

He obtained his BA, MA and Ph.D in Applied Economic Statistics from the Department of Statistics, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics Dalian City in China.

Djoko WintoroDean and Professor of Business Finance, Prasetiya Mulya Business School

Djoko Wintoro is currently the Dean of Prasetiya Mulya Business School in Indonesia. He is also Professor of Business Finance and teaches courses such as Corporate Finance, Bank Management, Building Corporate Growth and Managing in Uncertainty.

Since joining the school in 1983, Prof Wintoro has also served in various capacities including Research Director, Head of Finance, CBM Program Director and as the Assistant Director for Administration and Finance.

His research interests include finance, banking and trade. He has conducted various policy studies for the Indonesian government and has published widely in various renowned journals.

Prof Wintoro obtained his Master of Commerce in 1991 and his PhD in Finance in 2000 from the University of Wollongong, Australia. He is also an honorary member of the Indonesian Technical Analyst Association.

Jilnaught WongDeputy Dean, University of Auckland Business School

Jilnaught Wong is the Deputy Dean and Director of the Graduate School of Management at the University of Auckland Business School. He has also been the Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance.

Professor Wong’s research interests are in accounting policy choice, the interaction between tax and accounting, and governance mechanisms. He has published in leading international journals, including the Journal of Accounting and Economics, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Accounting & Finance, and a number of other journals. He is a past editor of Accounting & Finance, the official journal of the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand.

He teaches Accounting and Financial Reporting and Financial Statement Analysis in the MBA and postgraduate Masters programs. Professor Wong has also supervised a number of PhDs, some of whom are full and associate professors at the University of Auckland, Monash University (Australia) and Deakin University (Australia).

Prof Wong has also worked in public accounting and investment banking. He is a FCA of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand and a FCPA of CPA Australia.

He earned his PhD in Accounting from the University of Auckland.

Xiang BingFounding Dean and Professor of China Business and Globalization, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business

Xiang Bing is the Founding Dean and a Professor of Chinese Business and Globalization at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), a leading business school in China. Established in November 2002, CKGSB is China’s first privately funded and faculty-governed business school.

Dr. Xiang’s research interests include the relationship between state and business, the reform of state-owned enterprises, innovation and the role of the private sector in China. He is a leading authority on Chinese business, innovations in China, the globalization of Chinese companies and the global implications of the transformation of China. His writings and cases on these subjects are considered among the most influential in China.

He is an independent board member of a number of companies listed in Hong Kong, mainland China and the US. He also serves as a member of the boards of trustees for The United Way Worldwide (US) and for Asia House (UK), as well as a member of the International Advisory Council of FDC business school in Brazil. He has worked with many leading companies to offer consulting and training in China and globally.

Bernard Yeung Dean and Stephen Riady Distinguished Professor in Finance and Strategic Management, National University of Singapore Business School

Bernard Yeung is the Dean and Stephen Riady Distinguished Professor in Finance and Strategic Management at the NUS Business School. Prior to joining NUS in June 2008, he was the Abraham Krasnoff Professor in Global Business, Economics, and Management at New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business.

His research focuses on finance, strategic and international macroeconomics, and has been featured in more than 100 research publications. His articles have appeared in leading journals as well as in media publications such as The Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal. Professor Yeung has also won several scholarly honours and awards for academic excellence, including the Irwin Outstanding Educator Award (2013) from the Business Policy and Strategy (BPS) division of the Academy of Management, and the Moskowitz Prize for outstanding research in socially responsible investing.

Professor Yeung has served on various committees and international advisory boards and is an elected Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB). He currently serves as President of the Executive Committee of the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (ABFER), an independent network connecting global academic researchers, practitioners and public policy decision-makers.

Zhu NingDeputy Dean and Professor of Finance, Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance

Zhu Ning is the Deputy Dean and Professor of Finance at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF). He is also a faculty fellow at the Yale University International Center for Finance, and a Special Term Professor of Finance at University of California, Davis and Guanghua School of Management at Peking University.

Prior to his return to Asia, Prof Zhu was a tenured professor of finance at the University of California. He is an expert on behavioral finance, investments, corporate finance, and the Asian financial markets. He has published numerous articles in leading journals in the finance, economics, management and legal fields.

In addition to his academic research, Professor Zhu assists asset management companies in a wide range of capacities. During his leave from the University of California from 2008-2010, he led the quantitative strategies and portfolio advisory teams at Lehman Brothers and Nomura International in Hong Kong. He also has extensive consulting experience advising government agencies, the World Bank and IMF, market regulators, stock and futures exchanges, and some of the largest institutional money managers and investment banks in the world.

Professor Zhu is frequently featured in leading media columns, TV programs, and as a conference keynote speaker.

Professor Zhu has a Bachelors of Economics degree from Peking University, a Masters of Science degree from Cornell University, and a PhD in Finance from Yale University. He is also the author of the best seller The Investors’ Enemy.
