    BACKGROUND

New government legislation introduced the phasing-out the energy intensive

incandescent lightbulbs in 2012, and as of January 2014, 60-watt and 40 watt

bulbs will cease to be made the lighting industry is undergoing a majoroverhaul. The halogen bulb remains, but is gradually being outperformed by

new LED technologythat is providing an increased lifespan of use, greater

energy efficiency and an overall reduction in cost.

Like the incandescent bulb, the halogen bulb is likely to become obsolete

    within the next 5-10 years.

But what is going to happen to the light bulb production industry?

    STATEMENT & OPPORTUNITY

Current market and policy demands better efficiency lighting, which

effectively slowly phasing out existing old light emission technology.

So there are opportunity to look at the redevelopment of current

manufacturing process and final form of the products that producing

    incandescent light bulbs.

We see there could be a market for utilising the existing light sockets that

have been installed in many houses and offices. We think we can implement a

new function into the current existing components of the light bulbs.

This idea could provide solution for current manufacturing factory would

otherwise gone out of business. By implementing new technology into the

light bulb bases manufacture, the factory could be upgraded to new high

tech manufacturing industry, making them able to continue to compete in

    the market.

    OBJECTIVES AND GOALS

How could this process and its existing infrastructure be utilised and evolved

to meet the emergence of new technologies?

Help existing halogen bulb manufacturers to transition into a manufacturing

a different type of product, while utilising the existing manufacturing

infrastructure and help them to survive and thrive in the new technological

    age.WHAT COULD WE DESIGN?

Could we design small electrical appliances that plug into existing light bulbsockets?

Adaptors that allow existing appliances to be powered using light bulb sockets

We assume these could be identified as wifi node, speakers, projector and

    radio
