改革开放 20 多年来，广东的对外贸易得到了长足的发展，进出口总值平均每年递增 24.6% 。 1998年广东外贸出口总值达到了 757.2亿美元，占全国出口总值的 41.2% 。广东省本年度的进出口总额达 1300亿美元，占全国净出口总额的 40.1% 。

Over the past two decades since the reform and opening-up of China, the foreign trade of Guangdong Province has made great strides and rapid development.

The annual average total value of imports and exports was increased by 24.6%, and in 1998, the total value of foreign trade and exports in Guangdong Province reached $75.72 billion, accounting for 41.2% of the total for China, and the total value of imports and exports in Guangdong was $130 billion, equivalent to 40.1% of China’s total.

到目前为止，广东已和世界上 180 多个国家和地区建立了经济贸易合作关系，出口商品不断优化，工业制成品和机电产品的出口已分别占全国总值的 39.44% 和 43.22% 。农副产品和土特产品更是异彩纷呈。

Our export commodities are being constantly optimized. The export volume of industrial manufactured goods, and mechanical and electronic products from Guangdong amounts for 39.44 and 43.22 percent respectively of the whole country.

The Fair is right at the end of this century, and this is also the last grand meeting of the China Export Commodity Fair of the century. The Fair will be reformed on the orientation of “two optimizations and one strengthening “, that is, optimizing the structure of the enterprises participating in the Fair and structure of the export commodities, and strengthening the function of information services.

By optimizing the Fair’s participant structure, we can increase the participating proportion of production enterprises with self-managed imports and export rights, “Sanzi” enterprises (Chinese-foreign equity or contractual joint ventures, or wholly-foreign-owned companies), as well as private enterprises.

By optimizing the structure of export commodities, we can increase the number of product booths in such sectors as the mechanical, electronics , high-tech, information and photo electric industries.By strengthening the function of information services, we can help the traditional Fair to play a greater role.

The Guangdong Trade Delegation will implement vigorously the outward-oriented driving strategy as stipulated by the CPC Guangdong Committee and the Provincial Government to face squarely and overcome the various difficulties in foreign trade and exports. Furthermore, we should make full preparations to seize the opportunities ahead, take vigorous action to increase external transactions, and strive to fulfill the export growth target.
