Take place from November-March Alphabetical Order Every 8th graders must have an IGP

meeting before high school Parents will be notified in writing of their

ATTENDANCE AND TRUANCY When your child must be absent, please send either a

medical excuse or a parent excuse which contains the following: Childs name Date of absence Reason of absence Parent signature

Speaking with the school’s Attendance Clerk does not excuse an absence. A written note must be received. Only 10 parent notes will be accepted each year.

A student is considered Truant when one of the following occurs: A student has 3 consecutive unexcused absences (absent without a

note) A student has 5 total unexcused absences

When a student is truant the parent will be contacted to attend an intervention conference. Failure to attend this conference can result in a district level hearing or a Spartanburg County Truancy Court hearing.

STUDY ISLAND MMS Summer Island Bash is an incentive program that

will be used for Study Island this summer.  This program will allow students who receive a designated number of “Blue Ribbons” during the summer to attend a MMS Summer Island Bash at the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.

knee—even with patches or clothing underneath

No halter tops, tank tops, tube tops No hats in the building No see-through garments or visible undergarments No offensive, suggestive, or vulgar language on

clothing

At no time during the school day should a student use a cell phone.

First Offense- The cell phone is taken until the end of the day.

Second Offense- The cell phone it is taken and you do not get it back until a parent comes in for a conference to pick it up.

Third Offense- The cell phone is kept by the school for the remainder of the school year.

Cell phones should not:-be used as a watch-turned on during the school day-in your hands during school

At 3:10 we encourage you to

use your cell phone to call for your ride home!

THINK ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES of taking, sending, or forwarding an inappropriate picture of yourself or someone else!

NEVER take images of yourself that you wouldn’t want EVERYONE to see!

BEFORE HITTING SEND, remember you cannot control where this image may travel!

WHAT CAN PARENTS DO Parents must educate their kids about appropriate

online behaviors.

Talk to them about legal ramifications.

They should also monitor their child’s activities while online (informal or formal).

Specifically, know which sites your child uses and have their passwords for EACH one!!!
