It is a great honor forus to be your hosts in this symposium in whichour primary goals are sharing scientific andprofessional experiences and recent advancesin our engineering discipline and encouraging aresearch network of geotechnical researchers inAsian countries.

ObjectiveIn order to promote international exchange ofthe information on the current research andtechnology in the field of geotechnicalengineering, the Kyushu Branch of JapaneseGeotechnical Society has successfullyorganized a series of joint symposiums togetherwith Asian countries: the 1st in Shanghai(1997),the 2nd in Hong Kong(1999), the 3rd inHanoi(2004), the 4th in Dalian(2006), the 5th inFukuoka(2009), the 6th in Seoul(2012).The 7th international joint symposium will beheld in Okinawa, Japan with the followingpurposes:(1) To promote the skills researchers and

engineers in the field of geotechnicalengineering;

(2) To exchange the mutual understanding ofthe research and practice about problematicsoils and geoenvironment among Asiancountries;

(3) To have warm and informal discussion;(4) To extend our knowledge of information to

the research and practice toward the wholeAsian regions; and

(5) To create a sound research network ofgeotechnical researchers and engineers inAsian countries.

regional soils and so on.)(2) Geoenvironment (groundwater pollutions,

第7回 特殊土と地盤環境に関するアジアジョイントシンポジウム JS-Okinawa 2013 開催のお知らせ

はじめに

地盤工学会九州支部では、1997年よりアジア地域の地盤工学グループと数年おきにジョイントシンポジ

ウムを開催してきました（上海：1997年、香港：1999年、ベトナム、2004年、大連：2006年、福岡：

2009、ソウル：2012）。このジョイントシンポジウムでは、アジア地域が抱える地盤工学的課題に関して

の意見交換や問題解決に向けた相互協力を推進することで，東アジアネットワークを構築してきました。

2015年に福岡で開催されるアジア会議を控え、本活動の意義はさらに高まっています。このたび2013年11月に沖縄県那覇市において第7回目となるジョイントシンポジウムが以下の内容で開催される運びとなり

ました。 本シンポジウムの目的は、以下の通りです。

(1) 地盤工学分野の研究者と技術者のスキル向上 (2) アジア地域の特殊土と地盤環境問題に関する意見交換 (3) アジア地域の研究と実務の相互理解 (4) アジア地域を拠点とした地盤工学ネットワークの構築
