Complicación rara pero devastadora
1 en 3000- 6000 eventos anestésicos.
1 en 600 para la anestesia en situación de urgencia.
Mortalidad media 5%.
Mortalidad en 1 de cada 72.000 pacientes anestesiados.
Representa un 1 –20% de todas las muertes anestésicas.
