Talk about the musical forms of Jazz

The form is the rune "blueprint", that is "what gets (has to be) played, and

when". All azz musicians must know the form of a tune before they begin

playing, otherwise they could "get lost" and not know where they are in the

music. !ost azz tunes utilize a recurring chord progression that seres as thestructure of the tune# the way in which the di$erent sections of the

progression are grouped determines the form of the tune. %ach di$erent

section of a chord progression is assigned a di$erent letter. &or e'ample, if a

tune is measures long and is diided into three eight*measure sections

with the +rst two sections containing a set of identical chords and the last

section containing a set of di$erent chords, the form is AA.-f a tune is

measures long and is diided into four eight* measure sections with the +rst

two sections containing a set of identical chords, the third section a di$erent

set of chords, and the last section the same as the +rst, the form is AAA. -n

Jazz performance, the form of a tune (all the chords in a prederminated

se/uence (AA*AAA*AA0)) will be repeated oer and oer, each time

trough is called "a chorus".
