The Meiji Group will continue working to widen the world of

“Tastiness, Enjoyment, Health and Reassurance” and endeavor to always be there to brighten its customers’ daily lives.

We provide customers of all ages—from infants to the elderly—with a diverse lineup of products, including infant formula, milk, dairy prod-ucts, confectioneries, sports nutrition products, and food and enteral formula for the elderly. We have products in the shelf-stable food, chilled food, and frozen prepared food temperature ranges and deliver them through a wide range of distribution channels.

We are always seeking high product quality to provide customers with safe, reliable products. Further, our persistent and extensive research on lactobacilli and cocoa beans keeps producing innovative products. Such research along with our various other innovative efforts develop products that contribute to customers’ healthy diets.

Food SegmentWe operate an ethical pharmaceuticals business to protect people’s health and lives and an agricultural chemicals and veterinary drugs busi-

ness. The ethical pharmaceuticals business focuses on three core fields: drugs for infectious diseases, drugs for central nervous system disorders, and generic drugs. Our goal is to become a leading company in these fields in Japan and to become a company with a global presence as a “Speciality & Generic Pharmaceuticals Company.” Our agricultural chemicals business contributes safe and reliable food production, while the veterinary drugs business helps protect the health of animals.

In these businesses, we earn the trust of patients, medical institutions, and users and benefit society.

Pharmaceuticals Segment

We have a varied lineup of products that include the wonderful ingredient “cocoa”. We will capitalize on ideas and marketing capabilities to develop these products further and continue making choosing and eating them fun for customers.

Using the wonderful ingredient “milk”, we deliver high-quality tasty products. Our extensive lineup of innovative products contributes to customers’ healthy diets.

Values and lifestyles are diversifying, and health consciousness is increasing. We will utilize our accumulated expertise to offer a variety of products and support the health and wellness of customers of all ages—from infants to the elderly.

We deliver Food and Health worldwide, with a focus on China, Asia, and the United States. The meiji brand is becoming a brand customers around the world love and trust.

Ethical Pharmaceuticals Agricultural Chemicals and Veterinary Drugs International

We are expanding its business worldwide on a licensing basis. We manufacture and market pharmaceuticals through subsidiaries establi-shed in such countries as Thailand, Indonesia, China, and India—because we expect growth in the Asian market—and in Spain. These bases play an important role in the low-cost operations of our global production system. We will expand international operations to spread and establish the meiji brand world wide.

In the agricultural chemicals business, we market a rice blast preventative, which is the best-selling product of its kind in Japan, and new foliage herbicides. In the veterinary drugs business, we apply technology and knowl-edge accumulated through R&D for human ethical pharmaceuticals to provide a diverse range of products and contribute to safe, stable food supplies. Our veterinary drugs business enhances the health of small animals by providing pharmaceuticals and nutrition supplements in the companion animal field.

Since beginning production of penicillin in 1946, we have become a leading maker of antibacterial drugs. Through the years, we have been accumulating a wealth of propri-etary technologies in R&D, and manufactu-ring and providing pharmaceutical products of excellent quality to customers in Japan and overseas. Drawing on our accumulated know-how in the speciality drug business, we have recently begun supplying generic drugs that are comparable to speciality drugs in terms of quality, thereby serving as a “Speciality & Generic Pharmaceuticals Company” to accommodate customers’ diverse medical requirements.

Founded on October 9, 1916Centenary year: April 1, 2016–March 31, 2017

By utilizing international networks, we are working to develop, manufacture and distribute high-quality products which bring joy to our customers. We are also actively developing international businesses in growth markets, such as China and other Asian countries.
