Welcome!

Welcome to St. Paul Catholic Community! We’re grateful you have chosen to travel down the road of faith with us. Please visit ccstpaul.com to learn about our ministries and upcoming events.

Thank you for choosing St. Paul as your family of faith.

FR. MARTIN’S CORNER

I have to admit I cannot help but feel a little sad about the indifference I often encounter when people come up to receive Holy Communion (not here!). I once heard a priest say if we really knew whom we were receiving, we would approach the altar on our knees. The Son of God –the Almighty, a God whom the universe, as vast as it is, cannot contain –chooses to become a tiny and insignificant piece of bread for us to take, to consume. In appearance, after the Consecration, it still retains the look of bread and wine. In substance, it has been transformed into the body and blood, the soul and divinity of the Lord Jesus. A mystery beyond the capacity of the mind to comprehend! A reality that we cannot see with our physical eyes, but only with those of faith! This isn’t easy for many to accept. Remember, after the Bread of Life discourse in the Gospel of John (Chapter 6), a lot of people left Jesus because they found his teaching on the Eucharist difficult, even outright disturbing. Hence, it isn’t surprising when a study reported that about 60 percent of Catholics do not believe in the Real Presence. I hope they were just exaggerating (as most studies tend to do…). Regardless, the Eucharist is the greatest gift that the Lord has given us. Because it is a gift, it isn’t something to which we are entitled. God doesn’t owe us anything! As receivers of such a sublime gift, there has to be a proper disposition. There has to be a proper preparation. And there has to be a proper demeanor when we accept this privilege.

Flowers placed in front of the altar are

in loving memory of Mary Ann Dufresne.

Donated by Doug and Mary Wymer.
