Potchefstroom – Witrand hospital recently bid farewell to the longest serving member of its ex-ecutive management team. The Nursing Services Manager, Mrs Annetjie De Bruin has accepted a position in the private health care sector. Klerksdorp – Men who wish to be circumcised should bypass the illegal traditional male circumcision schools, and rather go to the male medical circumcision clinic at Tshepong hospital.Since Dr. Magome Masike, MEC for Health in North West launched “Gola Monna”- a Medical Male Circumcision Clinic at the Tshepong hospital grounds in 2013, about 13 000 men have been successfully circumcised. The clinic was made possible through a partnership between the Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU) under the auspices of USAID global fund and North West Department of Health, to enable the District to handle a high volume of circumcision.
So far the MMC Clinic is capable of doing over 250 circumci-sions per week free of charge.GolaMonna provide an excellent male medical procedure which takes less than 15 minutes. “This is indeed a safe and quick operation, with very little pain. We encourage all males in the communities from 13 years old and above to come to Gol-aMonna, Male Medical Circumcision (MMC) Clinic at Tshepong
for hygienic health reasons and it also minimises the chances of males contracting HIV/Aids as well as cancer of the cervical for females and other sexual transmitted infections (STI’s).
Prof. Ebrahim Variava, head of Internal Medicine in Klerks-dorp/ Tshepong Hospital Complex, concurs with Dr. Limakatso Lebina, facility manager and co-founder of GolaMonna MMC Clinic, who said, “This clinic will circumcise men and will ensure that they have lifelong partial protection against HIV”. She explained that, “Removal of the foreskin clearly can’t stop all HIV infections, but it certainly prevents most. We tell all the men that we circumcise, that they must continue to condomise”.The clinic will run seven days a week. For bookings and/or enquiries on circumcision, people can visit the clinic at Tshepong hospital or phone 018 406 3160.

Klerksdorp – The MEC for Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development, Manketsi Tlhape has requested farmers in the province to employ new ways of running their business enterprises. She encouraged the farmers to ensure that they operate in way that creates sustainable growth. Tlhape was addressing the farmers in Dr Kenneth Kaunda District as part of the farmers road-shows. The roadshows are part of the department plan to engage farmers and brief them about the departmental key plans on agriculture. These include the updates about the recently pronounced
much anticipated agricultural show as well as farmers support in general. The roadshows follow the tabled departmental budget vote speech presented recently. The
agriculture, environment and rural development programmes. Four roadshows have been planned to run through the district of the province. When addressing
-ince’s commitment towards placing agriculture as key economic contributor in the province. She said the pronouncements by both Premier Supra Mahumapelo and President Jacob Zuma placed a huge responsibility on the department. She said that however directly relates to the contribution by farmers. “As a province, we are not doing well in food security as a province. The commitment to have agriculture at the apex of the economy in our province means we need to survive on our own. If we are going to close the borders to other provinces, we will not survive and we should survive on our own.”The department is planning to do a major policy shift on agriculture. This, she said, would include spreading focus to all farmers so that support can reach many other farmers. It will also include emphasising the 80%retention of produce and 20%retention by the department. Ngaka Modiri Molema will focus on grain, Bojanala one livestock and grain, Dr
Kenneth Kaunda on small stock like poultry and pig-gery while Dr Ruth Sego-motsi Mompati remains the Texas of South Africa with livestock. In addition, Dr Mokaila said the drought relief programme is still receiving attention. With
assessment forms having being received, the depart-
