COMMUNICATION CARDS
If you are not in the habit of filling out the Communication Cards found in the pews, please take the time to do this. The reason for this is we are now tracking the attendance of our
members, not to give you a gold star for perfect attendance or to scold you if you miss a service or two, but it has been shown that if a member misses four weeks in a row the possibility for that member to drop from the church increases greatly. We need all of you to be with Redeemer. So with this tracking
system, we can review it to see if someone has been missing for several weeks in a row and give them a call to say we miss you
and hope to see you next Sunday or Monday. And, maybe there is another issue in the member's life that we can help
them with. So, please fill out those cards and pass them to the end of the pew.

Welcome to Redeemer Lutheran!
We are a diverse community of people always learning what it means to live a life of discipleship. We are
Lutheran (ELCA); we are Republican, Democrat, and Independent; we live across the street, around the
corner, in the Hartford area, and in the nearby countryside. We work in schools, factories, offices,
fields, and hospitals. We are laborers, students, retired, and unemployed. We range in age from the
newly born to seniors. We come from backgrounds of Catholic and Protestant while some are discovering church for the first time. We come together with our
joys and sorrows, our faith, and our doubts. When we worship together, sing together, study the Bible
together, fellowship together – we love and support one another to become one body of Christ.
No matter who you are, no matter where you are on life’s journey…You are Welcome Here!
Seeds of Ministry
The passage in Acts 2: 42-47 describes life amongst the early faithful in Jerusalem. Clearly, it not our life today. How do
our lives, communal and individual, reflect our own experiences of God’s grace and action in and among us. What message do we send to the world about God by our
own attitudes and deeds concerning our possessions? How can our own lives better reflect what God has done for us
and the living presence of Christ in our midst? consider these and mirror then in our lives today and every day.
Food Pantry Sunday - The third Sunday of each month has been designated as Food Pantry Sunday. Please bring non perishable items and place them in the barrel in the Information Area on Sunday, May 21st.
Opportunity to Help an Immigrant Family…
On May 9, 2017, an Albanian family will be arriving at the airport in Milwaukee by way of Athens, Greece (where they had gone to find work). They are in their mid-twenties and have a 4-year-old daughter and 6-month-old son. They are being sponsored by (and will temporarily live with) an Albanian family that came to Milwaukee 12 years ago. My wife works at Aurora Sinai Medical Center with Stela, the daughter of the sponsor family. Stela tells us that the family will arrive with little or nothing but a few suitcases and the clothes on their backs. Stela and her family do not have the luxury of working through the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service and Lutheran Social Services, as Redeemer did when we sponsored 3 refugee families to settle in Hartford over the last 15 years. This means that they need help - and that is where we can step in. The family will be living with Stela’s family to begin with - while they find a job for the husband, an apartment, driver’s licenses, and perhaps a car. However, they will need virtually everything to make their life comfortable.
Here is a list of some things that are important:
Infant car seat and toddler booster seat
Beds and mattresses
Crib and mattress
Sheets, pillowcases, blankets
Living room furniture
Table and chairs
Pots, pans, and cooking utensils
Plates, glassware, silverware
TV
Radio
Microwave
Cleaning supplies
A Car
Gift cards from Walmart or Target - to buy clothes and personal items.
You may bring items to church and place them in the Sunday School wing. The church is open from 8:00-4:30 Monday - Thursday. Enter through the main doors by the office and go through the Fellowship Hall to the Sunday School wing. Look for a sign indicating in which room to place your items. Please give gift cards to Anne in the office. To arrange for pick-up of large items - to arrange for evening or weekend delivery - or if you have questions - call or email me: Rick Ninmann 262-224-2820 [email protected]
Jesus’ words from Matthew 25:
“I Was a stranger and you invited me in...whatever you did for one of the
least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for
me.“
Special Giving for May The Warrior House
Salute the Troops’ Warrior House, located at W462 Highway 67 in Lomira, is now accepting male veterans seeking transitional housing and support. The Warrior House, managed by Salute the Troops, aims to create opportunities to foster positive rental history, collaborate with local employers to initiate employment opportunities, empower veterans to find purpose through supportive programming designed specifically for each veteran, all while supporting the community.
Mark your calendars for Monday, June 5th . Bike your way to church as a family and join us for Blessing of Bikes and Helmets worship at 6:30 p.m. Get ready for a healthy summer!
“Take Home Bible Study” - See the insert in this week’s bulletin.
It’s not too late! We still have plots available, Free water is available from the rain barrel. Or, we have a sprinkling system that you can pay for ($40.00 for the summer.) Reserving a plot without the sprinkler is only
$20.00 for the season. You can select any plot you want. Place a sign or yard ornament to "claim" your spot. We have Countertop height raised beds & standard raised beds (18" tall). We ask that if you are physically able to use the standard beds, please do - but if you need to restrict bending or kneeling, feel free to use a countertop height bed. Stop in the office to pay for your plot. Finally, we encourage everyone to consider donating some of your produce to the Hartford Food Pantry. This is not required.
