Willowvale - A man who allegedly murdered his wife because she did not cook him chicken livers was granted R1 500 bail by the Willowvale Magistrate's Court, Eastern Cape police said.
Mabifu Mbundwana, 69, was arrested after he allegedly beat his 67-year - old wife Nofinish Mbundwana to death with a stick in Mente village, Willowvale, Captain Jackson Manatha said. Mbundwana allegedly wanted her to serve him chicken livers she had cooked earlier.
She however told him they were not ready yet. He went to bed, got up around 01:25, took his stick and allegedly assaulted her. She died on the scene. He faces a charge of murder.

Husband allegedly kills 67 year old wife over chicken livers
The accident on the dangerous N2 happened near the Ngxakaxha village in Dutywa. Three men and one woman in the silver Toyota Tazz that was travelling from Dutywa towards Butterworth were killed on the scene, police spokesman Captain Jackson Manatha confirmed.The passenger in the white Ford SUV travelling from the Butterworth direction was critically injured while its driver escaped with minor injuries.This is the fourth accident on the N2 since the Easter weekend with the recent one being on Sunday night near Mthatha.
Manatha said police were investigating a case of culpable homicide.“The two people who were injured were rushed to the Butterworth Hospital. The cause of the accident was unknown at the time,” he said.The identities and ages of the killed and injured had not been established at the time of the accident.Manatha urged concerned residents who had relatives travelling in a silver Toyota Tazz from Dutywa and a white Ford SUV from the Butterworth direction to contact the Dutywa police station to enquire about their relatives. Dutywa – AmaXhosa royal houses and the Eastern Cape traditional leaders are mourning the death of one of their own. Chief Mthetho Ngubesizwe Sigcawu – the uncle of AmaXhosa King Mpendulo Sigcawu - died in a car accident near Dutywa recently.Police said that Chief Sigcawu, who was one of the senior members of the AmaXhosa royal house and the king’s council, died after his car collided with a truck on the N2 near Dutywa at. ”He was travelling Dutywa to his home in Ngxakaxha when he got involved in the accident. He died instantly on impact. The driver
of the truck was not injured. Chief Ngubesizwe was alone at the time of the accident,” said Butterworth police spokesman Captain Jackson Manatha. The death of Chief Sigcawu, 54, comes weeks after he was officially enrobed by his nephew King Sigcawu as the senior traditional leader of AmaGcaleka AseGwadana Traditional Council, overseeing five administrative areas.
