    THE MONTEGO BAY MARINE PARK TRUST

    On a mission to conserve, restore and manage the marine and costalresources in Montego Bay for the maximum benefit of traditional users,

    the community and the nation.

    Strengthening the local

    commitment to protect

    Montego Bays CoastsRiding on the waves of the excellent prece-

    dence set in 2012 the Montego Bay Marine

    Park Trust has made phenomenal steps

    towards protecting the Marine Park in

    2013.

    The small team of six have been actively

    tackling the numerous issues affecting the

    Marine Park. These include; the Lionfish

    Invasion, Fish Stock Depletion, Confirma-

    tion of the parks boundaries, Coral Reef

    destruction, Zoning of the Marine Park,

    Poaching, Pollution and the protection of

    the remaining marine habitat.With a focus on relationship building and

    strengthening the local commitment to

    protect Montego Bays Coasts the Trust

    was able to consistently engage the wider

    public and successfully implement the vari-

    ous programs, projects and activities organ-

    ized.

    The display of social and corporate respon-

    sibility for the Marine Park by the local

    community and organizations like The

    Rotaract, MBJ Airports LTD, CPJ, Half

    Moon Resort, Rhapsody Cruises, Discov-

    ery Bay Marine Lab, Regal Bakery and The

    Sandal Foundation. Create a beautiful cycle

    of social and corporate environmental

    stewardship that if maintained can lead tothe effective conservation of the Park.

    30 educational presentations in six months

    3 presentations on World Wetlands Day

    Earth Day Beach Clean Up

    198 volunteers

    3018 lbs garbage

    GEF sponsored Lionfish Management Out-

    reach activities in association with DBML

    MBMPT Anniversary celebration

    Fisher Folk Forum

    Initiated the Alternative Livelihoods Pro-

    gram with MBFCS & NEPA

    MBMPT Summer Camp
