What is a Membrane?

Membranes are engineered thin barriers or films of material that allow certain substances to pass by a size exclusion mechanism related to the size of the pores on the membrane surface

Marathon Oil, Kentucky- 50,000 gpd

Initial system: equalization + dissolved air floatation (DAF)

Difficult wastewater - contains solids, oil and grease, aromatic hydrocarbons (including the “BTEX” compounds), metals, BOD and occasionally arsenic.

• Early 2002: pilot study performed using ZeeWeed Pilot proved to be very successful

• Removed COD, BOD, TSS

• Also removed “BTEX” compounds and heavy metals to acceptable levels.
