Measuring the value of intangible assets (Employees' skills, IT systems, and organiza>onal cultures) is the biggest mystery of accoun>ng and is worth far more to many companies than their tangible assets because intangible assets are hard for compe>tors to imitate. In order to sustain their compe>>ve advantage, managers need to measure these intangible assets accurately and forecast their future requirements in a similar fashion as their tangible assets.
