Nancy L. KnowltonPresident and Co­Chief Executive OfficerCo­Founder Nancy is responsible for the day­to­day direction of SMART. Nancy has a diploma of collegial studies and a business administration degree with honors, and an MBA in marketing and finance. She completed her chartered accountant accreditation in Alberta. Prior to founding SMART, Nancy taught accounting and computer science for a year at a Canadian university before taking a position with an international accounting firm in Calgary. At the time of her departure, she was a senior audit manager. Recognized as one of Canada's top businesswomen, Nancy was the 1999 Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in the Export category, awarded by the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and the Bank of Montreal. She and SMART co­founder David Martin were awarded the 1999 Prairies Region Technology Entrepreneur of the Year Award, sponsored by Ernst and Young and a Manning Innovation Award in 2002. In 2002­2003 Nancy was one of the nine members of the independent commission that reviewed Alberta's basic education system and produced Every Child Learns, Every Child Succeeds. Additionally, Nancy has spoken around the world on the topic of the 21st­century classroom today, sharing her perspectives on the successful integration strategies for interactive whiteboards in everyday teaching and learning. In 2003 Nancy was awarded an honorary Doctor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University in recognition of her many business accomplishments.For detailed biographical information and a photograph, please contact PR@smarttech.com, indicating your specific needs.

Good Morning. First, thanks so much for your  blog and videos. The district installed Smart boards  in all our rooms this fall, without any training. Needless to say everyone on staff is playing catch up.

Hi to both of you, I have been recommending your podcasts to our Fremont City Schools eLearning team all year.  They are practical and easy to mashup for any of our classroom teachers to use.  We are all new to SMARTboard and this eLearning team, comprised of 12 classroom teachers and 6 Teachers On Special Assignment are the first to get to have this fabulous tool for teaching.  The team is presenting to the entire district this Friday, February 26 after only having SMARTboards since Dec. 1.  Many of them watch you all of the time­­thank you! Laurie Godfrey

Hi Scott & Dave,

Though I’m not a math teacher, I love listening to your podcasts.  In preparing to present to math teachers, I created a number sorting lesson.  I thought I would share it with you.  In the lesson, you drag the numbers to the most appropriate category.  It will be cool to discuss why some numbers can be seen in more than one category and why other numbers don’t belong to any category.

I hope you like it (and it is mathematically correct).

I want to thank you both for the great podcasts. I got a SMARTBoard the day that school started last year (yep, it was hooked up about 10 minutes before the kids got in the room) and I spent the year trying to figure it out. I love my SMARTBoard, but what most people don't realize is that it takes quite a bit of training to really be effective with its use. The training that I got was rather laughable, so when a fellow teacher told me about your podcasts this year . . . well, I watched all of them in 2 1/2 weeks! I now know so much more and am more comfortable in helping other teachers.
