lll. Purposes of lco Breakers

1. Brings everyone in the cell to a common focus. Every member watks into the cellmeeting with different emotion, purpose, attitude etc.

2. lt is NOT a game per s, but an activity that helps people to take the focus offthemselves in order to feel at ease with each other. lt may require each person tosay something on a pre-determined topic, or for small groups of two or three toaccomplish a simple iask in a limited time.

3. lt helps bind peopte to peopte, usually on a supemcial level but thats what it'ssupposed to achieve.

4. lt helps break the ice! Especially so for people who are new, or shy. An ice-breakeris non-threatening, which everyone, young or old in faith and age, introvert orextrovert, easy{oing or serious in charactr, children or adults, can participate.Therefore you get everyone involved right from the beginning of a cell meeting!

5. lt enables you as a cell leader to understand something about your members whichyou can later emphasize as a need during worship or edification time.

POINTERS

1. Some cell leaders feel that ice-breakers are a waste of time. Nolt They areextemdy valuable for cells that are beginning to know each other or cells that havebeen together for a long time.

2. lt is a TOOL to help you take the first step into each otheds lives.

3. Pray and ask God to give you wisdom in choosing an ice-breakef that would beappropriate for the occasion. We have found out that an ice.breaker chosen withcare allows God to minister to some people during the cell meeting.

4. Do not tty to think of an ice-breaker jusi prior to a cell meeting. Treat it as seriouslyas l'ou would prepare for edification or worship.

5. Use a resource list of ice-breakers. Keep notes of new ice-breakers that you rnayhave discovered in seminars, crnventions etc.

Another variation of this game is using Scissors, paper & Stone. All symbds exceptbird and scissors are the same. Scissors is symbotised by wo fingdrc (index andmjddle) outstretched and thg rest clenched, like showing the numbr two. Scissorswrn paper, paper win stone and stone win scissors.

Jumping Up and Down

Get into pairs. Count the number of abhabets in your name. Add your partne/scount to yours. Holding each otheis hand (botl hands), jump up and dor.n together,the numberoftimes according the total score counted iust now.

Memory game

Write about 40 to 50 v,ords on a big piece of paper or transparency. Show it forabo_rrt 30 seconds. People are to write down on their own piece of paper as manyas they can remembr. The winner will be the one with the most nuhGr of words.
