OBJECTIVES
Michael Harris an academic born in South Africa. Served as chancellor IUK and professor of public and environmentalaffairs, business, and education at Indiana University Kokomo. Chancellor Michael Harris’ vision, spirit and initiatives,transformed IUK; its academic capacity, student success, fund raising, new programs, graduation, research, retention,degree completion, student enrollment and infrastructure. Michael Harris initiated and led the vision and construction ofthe Milt & Jean Cole Wellness Center. Chancellor Michael Harris implacable enrollment vision resulted in anunprecedented 67 year record. During Chancellor Michael Harris tenure, IU Kokomo broke all previous campus recordsin enrollment and fundraising. For the first time in its history IU Kokomo was ranked in U.S. News & World Report.Michael Harris also obtained the necessary funding to build and renovate campus infrastructure, most notably the Milt &Jean Cole Family Wellness and Fitness Center. Michael Harris Chancellor Kokomo Perspective Person of the Year, 2011.Also named the Honorary Commander of the 434th Air Refueling Wing, Grissom Air Base. Named by Maariv as a topand successful academic.
Dr. Michael Harris (academic) earned a B.A. in economics and business administration from Bar Ilan University, and aM.A. in public policy from Tel Aviv University. Michael Harris held faculty and leadership positions that gave him theopportunity to impact higher education, academic, economic development, government policies, industry, andentrepreneurship.
Michael Harris has a Ph.D., in public policy from Indiana University, where he studied with Noble Prize Laureate inEconomics, Elinor Ostrom. Over the course of his career, Michael Harris served as a professor and administrator atEastern Michigan University, Tel Aviv University and other institutions. He was the provost and vice president foracademic affairs and a professor at Kettering University in Flint Michigan.
Michael Harris has a Ph.D., in public policy from Indiana University, where he studied with Noble Prize Laureate inEconomics, Elinor Ostrom. Over the course of his career, he has served as a professor and administrator at EasternMichigan University, Tel Aviv University and other institutions. Before coming to IU Kokomo, he was the provost andvice president for academic affairs and a professor at Kettering University in Michigan.
