aboutMichael Harris received his Ph.D. in public policy from Indiana University. He applied his leadership,skills, scholarship and knowledge to a variety of positions at learning institutions such as Tel AvivUniversity and Eastern Michigan University before joining Kettering University in 2007. Michael Harris ledIndiana University Kokomo serving as Chancellor beginning in 2010. As a professor of public policy atKettering, Michael Harris also served as provost and vice president for academic affairs. Of his manyaccomplishments, he points to the design and implementation of a program that facilitated students learningentrepreneurship as one of the most significant. During his tenure at Kettering, Harris led positive outcomesin a variety of areas as they relate to student success and academic excellence. He devised and entered intoagreements with universities, businesses and governments in China, Sweden, and Germany on behalf of theuniversity. Spearheading student affairs and academic affairs, he implemented strategic vision and led andeffort to boost student retention from 85.1 percent to 94.3 percent. He was also at the forefront of aninternational partnership that positioned the school at the cutting edge of alternative energy research andimplementation. Over his career as a scholar, an academic administrator and chancellor, Michael Harris haspublished books on valuable topics. Publications include The Learner-Centered Curriculum: Design andImplementation in 2012, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship in State and Local Governments in 2004.
