Michle Mouton was the frst emale rally driver

to win a world championship race.

Michle Mouton was simply sensational in 1981, the frst year o

racing or the Audi quattro. Born in Grasse in 1951, she was as

eisty as she was ast. With Fabrizia Pons (Italy) as her co-pilot,she won the San Remo Rally and became the frst woman to win

a world championship race. The ollowing year, she posted three

victories and just missed out on the title. Mouton posted a record-

setting time o 11:25.39 minutes in winning the Pikes Peak

mountain race in the Sport quattro in 1985.
