Middle School Textbook Themes Prompts in MY Access!® are aligned to the “themes” that are used to describe and organize textbook units. When you know what theme is associated with a MY Access!® writing prompt, then you can also identify the textbooks and units to which the prompt is aligned. Currently, all middle school pilot and IntelliMetric™ writing prompts are aligned to the following textbook series:
1. Glencoe, Reading With Purpose, Courses 1, 2 & 3 2. Harcourt Trophies, Grade 6, Timeless Treasures 3. High Point, Levels A, B & C 4. Holt, Elements of Literature, Introductory Course, First Course & Second Course 5. McDougal Littell, Bridges to Literature, Levels 1, 2 & 3 6. McDougal Littell, The Language of Literature, Grades 6, 7 & 8 7. McGraw‐Hill/SRA, Imagine It!, Grade 6 8. MacMillan/McGraw‐Hill, Treasures, Grade 6 9. Prentice Hall, Timeless Voices, Timeless Themes, Bronze, Copper & Silver Levels 10. READ 180, Stage B & C 11. Write Source, CA, Grades 6, 7 & 8
The following two tables will help you identify themes and textbook series in order to guide your prompt search in MY Access!®. Table 1: In Table 1, each Theme at the middle school level is listed along with the Textbook Units and Unit Titles to which it is aligned. Use this table if you have organized your instruction around important themes. If you know what theme you’d like to use in the classroom, you can search for appropriate prompts in MY Access!® as well as identify the textbooks and units to which they align. Jump to Table 1
