We primarily use this resource to provide our students with answers to problems after they have attempted to work out their own solutions. However, we recognize that the availability of a complete answer key can be a great help, particularly to students studying inorganic chemistry independently. Many problems in the text provide literature references. In addition to making use of information from these sources, these solutions often provide additional references. Readers are encouraged to explore these sources for information beyond the scope of this manual. The fifth edition of Inorganic Chemistry has numerous new end-of-chapter  problems. Careful readers will likely find places to offer suggestions for improvements. We welcome such suggestions, either for the  Inorganic Chemistry text or for this manual, to improve future printings and editions. Special appreciation is due to Coleen Morrison of Pearson Education, Inc. for all she has done in her role as editor to shepherd this project through to its conclusion, and to Amanda Reig at Ursinus College for her careful checking of the manuscript and valuable suggestions. Best wishes as you embark on your journey of learning inorganic chemistry. Gary L. Miessler St. Olaf College Paul J. Preface

This manual was prepared for both students and instructors. We primarily use this

resource to provide our students with answers to problems after they have attempted to

work out their own solutions. However, we recognize that the availability of a complete

answer key can be a great help, particularly to students studying inorganic chemistry

    independently.

Many problems in the text provide literature references. In addition to making

use of information from these sources, these solutions often provide additional

references. Readers are encouraged to explore these sources for information beyond the

    scope of this manual.

The fifth edition of Inorganic Chemistry has numerous new end-of-chapter

problems. Careful readers will likely find places to offer suggestions for improvements.

We welcome such suggestions, either for the Inorganic Chemistry text or for this manual,

to improve future printings and editions.

Special appreciation is due to Coleen Morrison of Pearson Education, Inc. for all

she has done in her role as editor to shepherd this project through to its conclusion, and to

Amanda Reig at Ursinus College for her careful checking of the manuscript and valuable

    suggestions.

Best wishes as you embark on your journey of learning inorganic chemistry.
